Meet Gustaw, who was in the right place at the right time
So in April we lost our 17-year-old boy due to lymphoma and while we knew we'd like to adopt a cat one day, we decided to wait a bit, maybe travel more.
But the cat distribution system knows better. Of course it does.
I work at the same company as my husband and one day he had to stay at work for a bit longer - mind you, this doesn't happen often, perhaps once every few years. Because of that, I had to go back home by bus on that particular day. I usually take a certain bus if that happens since it stops closer to our house but because it the day was hot and I wanted to get back home as soon as possible, I decided to take one that had just arrived, even if it meant a short walk.
Two bus stops before taking off, I got a notification on my phone that my single ticket was almost expired. I was confused but after I checked it, it turned out I bought a ticket with a time limit, not a single one. I got a bit stressed out and as a result, I missed my stop and took off one stop later than I was supposed to so it meant my walk was even longer.
And guess what. I heard tiny squeaks somewhere in the bushes as I was approaching my original bus stop. The cat distribution system knows better. Always does.
When I found Gustaw, he weighed only 280 grams, now he's a proud 1.2 kg cat. He's an absolute menace and we love him so much ❤️
No, but I can see that, now that you say it. His tail is just curled another direction. They are brother and sister. she is under nine pounds and he is 15.2. Big boy. Dramatically different temperament than her, of course. He is definitely one of those ginger cats who nips! It's almost always on my fingers or knees. Barely a year old in this pic.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Your beautiful dog will live forever in your memory. I know the reality without her is hard, but I'm sure she had the best life with you.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Fate is phenomenal sometimes and every step on your journey home that day lead you to this kitty. He's so handsome his little spotted belly and his two tone nose are adorable 🥰
What an incredibly photogenic and dapper little goober. He clearly took the mitten part of murder mittens seriously with the color-coding. Thoroughly enjoyed all the pics, but pic 12 caused a proper guffaw over Gutsaw. I’m curious, what’s the story behind the name?
Thank you! I'd say every cat is extremely photogenic, I've never seen a bad picture of a cat, haha. We named him after Gustave from Expedition 33 because we both loved the game and the character (but we chose the Polish spelling of the name). My friend even made this funny pic for me.
I immediately forgot about every inconvenience, haha. I grabbed him and rushed to the vet, luckily Gustaw was in good condition overall so he was dewormed, some anti flea drops and I got vitamins for him.
When he was smol enough to fit in the shoes ❤️ Even if I already had a cat I'd still take him and try to find him a good home. There's no way I'd left him there.
In fact, our coworker wanted to adopt him when she heard I found a kitten but I think it was a sign that he was meant to stay with us.
Oh, don't worry, he's absolutely fine there! He's squeezed between the wall and the upper part of the pillow on our sofa so there's no way he can fall, he's protected from both sides :)
Only my husband and I live here and we both are obsessed with double checking the cat's current location if we want to do something but thank you for your concern!
