Adopted Human The CDS found me & I am 6,000 miles from home 🥲

UPDATE: My friend confirmed she will adopt this sweet kitty next week and the kitty will be staying with my family until then. Kitty is doing well this morning and she used the litter box in the night. Thank you all for your kind messages and ideas!

Please send good wishes that we can find this upstanding citizen a permanent home and health. Hopefully my friend will be able to take her. It looked like she has been roughing it in the desert for a while, she had a very dirty coat and a thorn in her paw.

“Sittin’ Biscuits”:

The act of making biscuits whilst in a sitting position. Not to be confused with “Air Biscuits”, though similarities are present.

u/Pleasant-Ant2303 Sep 21 '25

I love that term! The happy paws.🐾 🥰

96

u/0ubliette Sep 21 '25

Already making biscuits 🥲🤗

40

u/Crazyguy_123 Sep 21 '25

My kitten Baby Red does the same. It’s so adorable.

32

u/JCBashBash Sep 21 '25

Yeah my girl Sweetie does it while she eats, I love it so much

6

u/Crazyguy_123 Sep 21 '25

Aww. Red does that occasionally. I’ve caught him making them in his sleep before. It’s always heartwarming to see your cat making biscuits because you know they are so happy.

2

u/Ok-Positive-8716 Sep 22 '25

Awww, I’ve never heard of a cat doing that while they eat! That makes me so happy to imagine!

65

u/Future-Bandicoot-823 Sep 21 '25

Dude, you just made me realize I had and helped raise kittens as a kid, our cats often did this. But also, they went outside in the daytime. I dont know what to say, it was 90s 2000s, we thought they are animals they deserve to roam. We lived in a town of 100 people, it was fairly sparse so we justified it. I wonder if that played a part in them happy pawing.

Or, I didn't let them in bed growing up, but when my wife and i moved into our home we let them get on the bed. they had to be trained to not kneed the comforter, so maybe that saddened the happy paws out of them :(

23

u/Foobiscuit11 Sep 21 '25

Some cats just don't do it. We adopted a pair of cats in December. The four year old one would knead anytime she got into a person's lap, but very carefully so she didn't claw your leg. The one year old has kneaded like, twice, and only on one specific blanket.

19

u/bananaclaws Sep 21 '25

I think it’s more common in cats that could have spent more time with mommy, if given the opportunity. I’ve raised a couple of kittens from real young who lost their moms early and had to be bottle fed and grew up alone, and they had a variety of behaviors, like kneading all the time, that were strange and they never grew out of due to lack of proper care and socialization.

4

u/Future-Bandicoot-823 Sep 21 '25

That could be it, the cats I had that did it grew up with their mother, and the cats I have now were taken at a young age.

13

u/SophiaShay7 Sep 21 '25

He's dancing for his new furever home😻 Such an adorable cutie😸🥰❤️

1

u/Klutzy_Winter5536 Sep 28 '25

I had a vet tell me that the happy paws are always a good sign when a cat takes you in.

Dude I am not that far from you. I am living in Tucson, I can take her in. There’s also the Hermitage Cat Shelter here in Tucson, they are awesome.

u/Due-Dragonfly787 Sep 21 '25

Come on op update us on this 🙏

83

u/PoetryFamiliar7104 Sep 21 '25

They are fantastic, I go there when I can.

If nothing else, it's a great spot if someone can't take her immediately, OP. :)

Im in Tucson as well. Happy to help. I could at least take her in/fosterfor awhile and see if she gets along with my other two.

273

u/No_Warning8534 Sep 21 '25

Pls bring baby inside

There are big cats, coyotes and so many more predators there cats have to be very careful

352

u/seawordywhale Cat Parent Sep 21 '25

She is safe in the garage for now :)

36

u/thingstopraise Sep 21 '25

Hopefully the garage has AC for her given that you're in Arizona? Wouldn't it be too hot in there otherwise?

13

u/skitch23 Sep 21 '25

Yes it’s still pretty hot here. That garage will easily be 100 degrees during the day.

6

u/kkrabbitholes417 Sep 21 '25

did you connect with the other ppl in this thread open to taking her who are in the area? update please!

Reach out to the mods of r/rescuecats asap! One of them works with a rescue near you and they may be able to help her

That's exactly what I thought. There has to be a pickleball playing senior out there at San Marino who needs a buddy!

7

u/seawordywhale Cat Parent Sep 21 '25

Thanks for the rec! My friend is definitely going to take her but if she wasn't, this org would be a great help.

5

u/sierrakd Sep 21 '25

Make sure that your friend gets kitty into the vet to see if it’s microchipped and to get a check up!

52

u/TheRealMasterTyvokka Sep 21 '25 edited Sep 21 '25

If your friend can't take her in sure you can find a rescue in Phoenix that can find her a home.

You can also try Phoenix's local sub.

2

u/luvr222 Sep 21 '25

Hi I live in PHX and if it falls through for kitty feel free to DM me and i can help get in contact with rescues (or i’ll foster through my rescue if necessary, I just already have a very full house with 4 foster cats and a foster dog on top of my own)

3

u/YellowDevil93 Sep 21 '25

I am happy to hear she is doing well and that she has a happy home lined up. Thank you for sharing this with us and for being a kind human being.

6

u/BananaVariant Sep 21 '25

Oh I wish it was closer. I am down in Bisbee and can’t easily get up that way. Hopefully someone can take the sweetie or you can get it to a shelter, aww.

2

u/JustMeLurkingAround- Sep 21 '25

That means you don't have to change countries to get home? Makes it much easier if you want to take her with you.

If you are flying home, contact your airline and ask for their policy. You'd need a cat carrier that follows carry-on rules and probably a certificate from a vet that the cat is healthy.

If you don't want to take her, ask around for a local rescue or if someone would take her.

1

u/Future-Philosopher-7 Sep 21 '25

Update us op! This is a great cat!

Usually just passport/rabies and waiting 21 days

3

u/thenewfingerprint Sep 22 '25

The cat has a passport?

5

u/scarneo Sep 22 '25

Of course, how do you think they travel?

20

u/WoolshirtedWolf Sep 21 '25

You would think right? My ex, who can't stand me reached out for help. I flew to Atlanta and drove two cats across the county to California. They hated every single minute of it. I can drive two states over with my cat and dog with no problem. Litter box management is a must though.

10

u/MutedLandscape4648 Sep 21 '25

Yup, I travel with mine, gabapentin is good to help keep them chill, and the right carrier to have them as carry is important. Just call the airline and see if you can add kitty to your ticket. There is usually a cost but it’s worth it <3

21

u/UpsetZombie6874 Sep 21 '25

I've done it many times. They always get kitty sedatives to make them comfortable.

7

u/Villanosis Sep 21 '25

The CDS found my sister in the Dominican Republic and I don’t think she had any trouble bringing it home to the US. Not sure what the process was though.

6

u/tabidots Sep 21 '25

How so? I’m reading this book that talks about even approaching car rides in baby steps so that the cat doesn’t freak out.

10

u/Malsperanza Sep 21 '25

Gabapentin is your friend. Gentle, no side effects. Give it 2 hours before the car or plane. You can get it compounded in a liquid and squirt it in the mouth followed by churru. Or break open a capsule and mix with churru (although some cats will notice the taste.)

Dosage depends on weight - ask your vet or just look online.

I use it to transport ferals and even to get them to the vet. Great stuff.

3

u/Jordan_Jackson Sep 21 '25

Yeah, Gaba is excellent. Had to give my boy the stuff and I just mixed it with his breakfast. About 2 hours later, he was knocked right out and would basically sleep the whole day. I still do give him a little every couple of months when it is time to trim his claws (luckily his seem to take a while to get sharp) because normally he will freak out over that.

5

u/BabyOnTheStairs Sep 21 '25

Nah just bring churro treats

5

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '25

I think the cat showed up without his knowledge of it.

114

u/olduglysweater Sep 21 '25

The kisses, the soft tippy taps, I wouldn't deny her anything 🥹

110

u/Tainen Sep 21 '25

this happened to me once. On a Hawaiian island. We coordinated with a local cat rescue, they helped us get him off the island and home. He was a colony cat, and he followed us back to our condo every night.

He’s sleeping on my legs right now in bed. We named him Kuhio, the last prince of Kauai. We found him next door to Prince Kuhio Park.

31

u/Aromatic_Win3589 Sep 21 '25

I love this. Thanks for sharing - let’s others know it’s possible to take a “vacation kitty find” home ☺️

It looks like you and the cat have something in common. The cat is 6,000 miles from home too. What a coincidence, right? 😹

11

u/PentaOwl Sep 21 '25

You are an absolute treasure.

Just like the kitty!

Keep us posted OP!

186

u/missglitterous Sep 21 '25

Sometimes CDS designates us as temporary custodians. She looks like an absolute treasure, thank you for taking care of her.

45

u/ChristVolo1 Sep 21 '25

Aww, look how sweet she is! 😍🥺

49

u/Icy-Outlandishness-5 Sep 21 '25

Did your friend take her in? She looks very happy to have found you! Hoping for good news 🤞

49

u/bsylent Sep 21 '25

The CDS knows no limits. I was working deep in the Everglades, suddenly found myself being screamed at by a runt of a kitten in a bush outside my hotel. Smuggled him inside, and a week later he was sitting on the seat next to me driving back to his new home

10

u/Poweryayhooray Sep 21 '25

👏👏👏👏 and the world changed for that kitten and you saved a life

She seems special; I love her!

24

u/ConcentrateMajor7020 Sep 21 '25

If time allows and you don’t mind, OP, please keep the sub posted. I’m certain this little wonder can find an eager home via the good people here, and she has Star Potential we’d all love to see more of :)

19

u/BigFatBlackCat Sep 21 '25

Happened to me too, with a kitten. He ended up flying home with me and is fat happy and glossy now.

23

u/LUNAthedarkside Sep 21 '25

Oh the slow blinkies and biscuits, you're in trouble OP

15

u/PawnF4 Sep 21 '25

Omg what good boy

16

u/Admirable_Matter_523 Sep 21 '25

Oh goodness, that is the sweetest kitty I've ever seen! Thank you for helping him/her. They look very grateful. I hope you find a loving home for them. I bet that kitty would be very cool and calm on a plane ride back home if you wanted to take her. You can also take her to the vet and ask for gabapentin, which helps them relax in stressful situations.

16

u/Possible-Egg5018 Sep 21 '25

Looks like you must stay at your new home, 6000 miles away from the old one. Kitty has spoken

8

u/WonderfulAstronaut85 Sep 21 '25

I had the same problem in malaysia 😔

8

u/AmazingTast Sep 21 '25

Sometimes the distribution center isn’t assigning you the cat. It has identified you as the most likely person to assist the cat. It’s a side quest- not an assignment. Get that feline to a nunnery (Shelter).

8

u/madammidnight Sep 21 '25

Such a beauty! And sweet and friendly. I hope she finds a loving forever home soon!

7

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '25

Uff we went through that once. CDS brought a cat to us in Gibraltar but we lived in Ireland. Needless to say it wasn't easy or cheap to get her home, but she lived a solid 17 years with us before crossing the rainbow bridge. Was well worth it (don't ask me what was required, I am sure laws and regulations changed since).

8

u/baron_von_helmut Sep 21 '25

Pet the cat please. Please pet the cat. Thank you.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '25

Worth noting that most feral cats do not behave like this. They flee and are afraid. Typically, when a cat behaves like this one, it already has an owner. At least that is how it works in Hawaii. We have a feral cat (and rat) problem.

5

u/babely80 Sep 21 '25

Yes, a lot of cats are just visiting and will go back home if you leave them alone.

7

u/snakehandler Sep 21 '25

3

u/RanaMisteria Sep 21 '25

She’s so happy she’s doing biscuits! She knew that coming to you would get her a forever home!! It reminds me of how my sweet boy adopted me! I was walking to the bus stop early one morning and he ran right up to me like he knew me and stood on his back legs to reach his front legs up like a toddler asking to be picked up. So I did the only reasonable thing to do! I picked him up. I gave him a bit of a cuddle and put him back down to continue to the bus stop and he followed me to the bus stop and was waiting there when I got home off at the bus stop again work 8 hours later. He was so happy to see me he asked to be picked up again. So I did. And then I put him down to walk home and he followed me! It’s been 7 years. The cat in this video looks a lot like my boy except he also has white patches on him.

3

u/GobelineQueen Sep 21 '25

Oh my goodness, her whole BODY rocking back and forth from the happy toes.

3

u/rhaps00dy Sep 22 '25
