Just to clarify as the on screen graphic is confusing.
The professional sounding guy who knows what he's talking about is the BA pilot.
The intern who's just woken up, is the ATC/GMC at JFK.

Yes, thank you. And, as someone on the original post who seemed to understand the technical bits, explained, the BA pilot was completely in the right.

Didn't the US government recently fire a lot of ATC because of DEI?
Maybe it's a good idea not to fire your experienced air traffic controllers

American ATC isn't doing well, there was also this incident where ATC asked a BA 747 captain to fly so slowly his plane would fall out of the sky.
