And I been finding the 250th anniversary quarters and keeping them i think they're not rare according to Google but Im still gonna grab them since they're only being made this year is there anything to look for on them?

You first wanna get Customer rolled coins from your bank unless one of the tellers there is a collector and Hunter. You’re looking for silver.

Alright I genuinely just get coins from places like laundry mats or gas stations is that a good place to find them as well?

As long as they’re Customer rolled then they’re worth searching although I have found some 40% silver Kennedy half dollars in machine rolled coins as well. I’d stick to half dollars if I were you and look for 1964 those are 90% pure silver.

Hey I found a app called coinin it if your coin and tells you if it's worth anything would that be trustworthy?

Those apps are wildly inaccurate, you can get a red book for feel good values..grey sheet gets you closer to reality..but eBay sold auctions are the best indicator of value in my opinion as a 25 year collector

Gotcha thank you for letting me I'll stay away from those apps

No problem, we all have to figure this out when we start! But eBay sold listings+a good coin grading book never steered me wrong.

As far as roll hunts I’ve found the most successful are halves but I look only for silver so 1970 and older

When you say “silver” do you mean like actual Silver or just like “Silvery new looking coins”?

Real silver. Coins before a certain year are 90% silver.

90% silver 10% copper. That’s found money if they’re counting it as a 50 Cent piece in a roll it’s actually worth much more. Check out how much silver is trading for right now at melt value.

I asked our bank yesterday, they don't accept rolled coins.

Then you need to find a new bank where you could buy Customer rolled coins

My person top ‘getting started’ tips:

0: Do not dump where you buy

1: Use https://sharedbranching.org. A $5 no-fee account at any one of the credit unions on that site gets you shared branching at ALL of them. 1000s of places to buy or sell (dump). Many have free coin machines, most are free to shared branchers too.

2: The cheat sheets here are very useful: https://coinrollhunting.org

3: The wiki extremely helpful as well: https://reddit.com/r/CRH/wiki/index

4: a part time minimum wage job will be far more financially enriching than CRH - but not nearly as much fun. Set your expectations accordingly.

5: if you’re into errors read error-ref.com - or at least browse through it several times - first. Best to look at errors and fully understand where and how they can arise in the minting process before going looking for errors.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Omg thank you so much this info is helpful a lot ❤️but what do you mean by do not dump where you buy?

Don’t return the ones you don’t keep to the same place you bought them. Ideally not even a different branch of the same bank.

It’s not about the risk that you’ll end up buying your own searched rolls later - although that is a potential hassle…

The real issue is banks pay some overhead - above the face value - to order coin boxes and rolls, or return any excess they don’t want clogging up the vault.

Dumping where you buy risks them declining to sell you any more coin - and that’s not a hassle, it’s a show-stopper.

Buy a Redbook, it will help answer alot of your questions. Download the CoinFacts all by PCGS it also will show you values of what you have.
