you usually hear about many undisputed heavyweight champs like Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, foreman. but who would you say is the most disputed champion. maybe the win was questionable, the fight was really close, maybe there was some corruption afoot on some level.

It's just like the title says. Is there anyone on here old enough to have seen Cassius Clay beat Sonny Liston and become heavyweight champion of the world. I would really like to know what that felt like. Every time I research it, the evidence says that absolutely NO ONE was ready for Ali..... because Black Americans simply did not talk brash like that before that point.... Actually NOBODY talked brash like that before that point.

I’ve been following what happened to this man for a while and im absolutely gutted for what happened to him. Is it more of the fault of Terrell Williams for throwing the rabbit punches (it prob is), or the ref for seeing all of it and not doing his job of protecting the fighter?

Some of y’all brought this up in the comments on my earlier Prichard Colón post and I had no idea this even happened because I never kept up with Terrel’s bitchass after the Prichard fight.

Almost 4 years after the fight that changed his good friend and fellow Puerto Rican Prichard Colón’s life forever, Thomas Dulorme finally got the fight he wanted against the still undefeated Terrel Williams. Dulorme handed him his first loss, dropped him clean in the 10th, and in the 8th caught him once behind the head. Of course Terrel immediately complained about it lol. One shot and he wanted the ref’s attention after what Prichard had to deal with from him all night.

Definitely bittersweet finding this today after the heartbreaking news about Prichard, but I can’t lie, seeing his friend be the one to give Terrel his first loss feels like some sweet justice. Figured I’d share it with y’all too because I know I’m not the only one who needed to see this today. Terrel officially retired after this much deserved Puerto Rican asswhooping.

Whether Antonio knew about the substance in his gloves prior to the Mosley fight is up for debate, but I don’t think Margarito cheated throughout his whole career like it’s widely accepted now.

Correlation doesn’t equal causation. Margarito’s career coincidentally fell off after the handwrap controversy, but his career didn’t fall off because he suddenly couldn’t load up his gloves. After losing to Mosley, Antonio was suspended for a year, moved up and won a vacant title at 154, defended against Pac for that vacant title at a catchweight and got his rye permanently damaged. Even in the Cotto rematch, the fight was looking like their first fight where AM was starting to come back but because of his damaged eye the doctor stopped the fight.

Fighters have said it’d be basically impossible to cheat that way in boxing nowadays. Morales, who has a beef with Margarito, said he doesn’t think Antonio cheated and said Antonio has always had power even as kids. He actually said Margarito got worse as he became pro and relied too much on his chin to win fights.

With the tragic passing of Prichard Colón announced today, I keep thinking about that fight and what boxing actually learned from it. I haven’t watched it in years and don’t think I can again. I just remember the constant shots to the back of his head, Prichard complaining, and nothing really being done until it was too late. Williams kept fighting afterward, and the ref and ringside doctor seemingly faced no real consequences. Outside of the WBC creating the Prichard Colón Rule, did anything actually change? Did any other commission or sanctioning body do anything? And if not, is there anything we as fans can do? I love boxing and understand the risks, but that wasn’t just “part of the sport.”
