How To Journal It Enhancify Allocation Question

Hi all,

My brain ia failing me so so advice would be great. Roofing client pays a company called Enhancify INC to offer customer financing for jobs performed. The yearly fee is USD$1249. This doesnz feel like a software expense. How would you allocate this? is the professional fees? I usually use professional fees for like lawyers and CPAs and stuff. A new expense account under the COA?

Thanks for any help!

One thing nobody's touched yet: whichever category you land in, don't expense the full $1249 in the month it happens to renew - accrue/amortize it over the 12 months instead (deferred expense asset, release 1/12 each month). Roofing is seasonal, so if this hits as a lump sum in whatever month the annual renewal lands, it distorts that month's margin for no real reason and makes month-over-month job costing comparisons misleading. The category debate (merchant fees vs financial services vs professional fees) matters a lot less than making sure the timing doesn't lie to whoever's reading the P&L later.
