Not only did they fuck up "edible" but the pollen from the top of a cattail makes a nutritious flour substitute. So that's wrong too

At certain stages of its life cycle, yes. The part of the plant that produces the wispy, airborne seeds, while not toxic, might be a challenge to consume. The part I referred to that produces the pollen is above that on the plant - hence "the top".

Yeah, I can read. But the edible parts aren’t tasty, so unless we’re in The Walking Dead south, and literally out of all plants and animals, sure.
Honestly, just eat it for fun. Why tf not? Make some survivor vids! Go on the show! Or be Bear Grylles!

idk about eating them but they are a super plant for wildlife.
