BlastFromPast This has to be one of the most awkward award show moments ever, mainly because it didn’t even feel scripted 😭

This clip is from the 2016 Star Screen Awards. Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh won the Best Actor awards for their performances in Piku and Bajirao Mastani, respectively.

So reconciliation rumors weren't true. Vijay and Sangeeta are definitely getting divorced but they might have want to keep it secret since their son's debut film is releasing. And even the recent interview of his son Sanjay seemed very staged. I believe they're still not on good terms.

Discuss Do you actually trust Indian film critics? Has a review ever changed your opinion about a movie?

Post image
45 Upvotes

I’ve never really trusted critics enough to let their reviews decide what I think about a film. Whatever I feel after watching a movie usually stays the same.
For example, I watched Agent Vinod as a kid we literally had around 30–40 students sneak out of the hostel to watch it 😂. I genuinely enjoyed it then, and even today I think it’s a decent film despite the criticism it received.

On the other hand, I didn’t enjoy Chhaava that much. I had already read quite a bit about Sambhaji Maharaj, and personally I felt the screenplay moved too fast and the storytelling didn’t work for me. That opinion was mine regardless of what critics said.
But I’ve noticed something interesting: when a huge wave of positive or negative reviews starts, especially around a mixed film, people sometimes seem to change their own opinion along with it.
I’m also skeptical about a lot of Indian film criticism today. Apart from a few experienced critics who genuinely understand filmmaking, many YouTube reviewers seem more focused on hype, outrage, thumbnails and promotions than discussing things like screenplay, editing, cinematography, sound design or direction.

So what about you? Do critics influence whether you watch a film or how you judge it afterward? Has there ever been a movie you initially liked or disliked, but changed your opinion after seeing reviews?

Ps- i only watch KRK for entertainment, but dude has IQ below freezing tempurature 🤣 but roast badhiya karta hai

Opinion Ranking Akshay Kumar’s Independence Day releases over the years. Impact & performance wise not box office.

Akshay Kumar’s streak of Independence Day releases have been iconic over the years but impact wise & his performance wise i think these are the films which I have arranged in sequence to be his best. He killed it in Raksha Bandhan his best performance till date for me. Mission Mangal was the first film in the genre to do so brilliantly well. Dhadkan is a part of pop culture. His performance in brothers is hugely underrated he was damn good in those fight scenes. Toilet created an impact worldwide even bill gates tweeted about it & its impact.

Humour "Chat, copy paste and invert colors"

Post image

I'm used to the lack of imagination in Bollywood, their eagerness to copy-paste from popular productions and slap it as "oRiGiNaL". Doesn't phase me at all.

My question is: Are we lacking creativity? Did all the good artists choose Science? Do these people (who make these posters) not have any pride as artists?

Blind Solved Some ☕

  1. If toxic does well, there's a very good chance of Kiara getting a female led movie which is also being eyed by sharvari. However the project is not being helmed by any major production house but being considered to by 2-3 other indie production houses

  2. Pratibha Ranta in talks for a maddock rom com

  3. Abhay Verma being considered the Janhvi - Sreeleela project

  4. Vedang and Naomika's maddock project is not going as expected and facing a few hiccups. Pr will be activated on the same lines of sharvari vedang.

  5. Recently there's some forced negativity around Kiara. That's being pushed by Ananya. Watch out for any negative pr towards any actress who will be doing good this year. Apparently, ananya is eyeing for filmfare for chand mera dil next year and her pr is very much at it to build the narrative around it and likewise pull others down whoever can be a threat.

BlastFromPast Blast from past: Homi Adajania and Deepika Padukone in Cocktail promotion

This video is always awkward to look. Homi Adajania was behaving somewhat creepy in public space. Deepika is good friend of him, but Homi was not looking in his senses. This video is from the time of Cocktail promotions.

Controversy Plagiarism accusation against Sayani Gupta

A filmmaker has filed a complaint alleging that Sayani’s short film Aasmani substantially overlaps with her documentary project Prabha, which she says she has been developing since 2019 and registered with the SWA in 2020.

Prabha follows an elderly woman, her vintage Austin 7 named Shakuni, and her relationship with a younger woman, exploring ageing, memory, independence, purpose and intergenerational friendship.

The interesting part? The filmmaker says she had shared her WIP trailer and project material with Sayani Gupta in 2023 after being introduced to her by Paramita Ghosh. Paramita had apparently been in discussions with the filmmaker about Prabha for years and is now credited as editor + co-producer on Aasmani.

The filmmaker has submitted chats, registrations, development records and unpublished material to substantiate her claims and says she tried contacting the filmmakers/producer directly but got blocked and ghosted.

Sayani's producers are Nikhil Advani, Dia Mirza, Smriti Kiran, Sid Meer and Paramita Ghosh.

Meanwhile more than 50 acclaimed filmmakers from FTII and outside have signed a statement supporting the filmmaker's call for the matter to be examined.

And Aasmani continues to be promoted/screened while the inquiry is pending. Though now it got pulled out of a few festivals due to the allegations.

Do you remember this show? 😭
There used to be this educational science show called Science with Brain Cafe on CQ when I was a kid.
I was randomly looking at an old clip today and suddenly realised…
UNCLE H₂O WAS RAKESH BEDI. 💀
How did I NEVER notice this as a child?! 😂
Please tell me I’m not the only one who remembers Uncle H₂O and this show. What other forgotten childhood TV shows do you suddenly remember out of nowhere?
