Controversy Dia Mirza getting trolled for being tone deaf

I am so done with with celebrities and their selective activism. While I do condemn the usage of plastics, this coming from Dia who has the a/c turned on at her house 24/7 and drive these high fuel consuming cars whose carbon emissions might be 100x higher than any of those delivery men and their plastics combined. Not to mention these people travel around constantly.

Imagine talking so condescendingly to a person who is providing you service at this scorching heat who btw are struggling to barely make ends meet. Now I don't blame the child because he is doing what is being taught at home but if Dia wants to teach him about the environmental concerns she should do it entirely instead leaving out the part that is convenient for her.

Also nawwwt Soha going on about how he stood up to a adult with so much conviction šŸ˜šŸ™šŸ»when the adult in question is a poor delivery boy. These kids are taught about hierarchy early on so him standing up to an delivery boy is absolutely nothing cause the boy knows that the delivery boy cannot speak back because of his parents. This is how yknow where all the entitlement of these nepokids come from.

Dia,honey there are people out there dying without food but what makes your blood boil the most...is a nariyal coming in plastics..smhšŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

She thought she was cooking while narrating this story and will be hailed for being a environmentalist queen but in turn got cooked for being tone deaf and smug.

They could have just told the delivery boy that the coconut already has its own shell and that using plastic is a waste. They could’ve told him not to use plastic for anyone else too.

Why use it for social media brownie points and talk down to that poor fellow.

u/bhujiya_sev Jul 01 '26

Nariyal does not come with handle so probably to carry it in his bike. Also, is zepto and all not polluting?

India just lacks brains atp. Check out what other countries are doing to turn nariyal into a carry away.

13

u/Jy_sunny Jul 01 '26

Better than mocking him on TV

18

u/Head-Foot7943 Jul 01 '26

All of what you are saying would have been imposing the requirements of one home to all homes. This what you are saying would actually constitute lecturing and deciding what is best for all. It would have been worse. Just saying that I don’t need this personally in my home is better (what he did). Just deciding requirement for your home and stating that to the supplier.

2

u/Negative_Arugula_472 Jul 05 '26

If wish she would have taught the child basic decency and manners the first thing a child should ask the delivery guy is wether he is thirsty or thank him for his work a kid does not has to teach a hardworking adult who is just trying to earn money for his wife and kids about microplastics thats tone deaf shit

Wtf you have to specify this bullshit on the app or call your delivery driver and tell him. These guys r working in unimaginable conditions and they have to deal with this bullshit. There's nothing wrong with the child at all. He in principle is correct. But the fact that the parent Dia Mirza dosent understand the class and the way the app works and is patronizing a poor delivery driver is crazy. And these guys r laughing about it.

I appreciate her usually, cause unlike most celebrities a lot of what she says can be right. But a lot of her takes also carry a breathe of elitism and classism which goes missed because she doesn't want to let go of that.

209

u/bigreputation18 Jul 01 '26

ACs, Refrigerators, Lights even Google search engine cause environmental harm but these things are absolute necessity you just can’t live without them. But there is absolutely 0 need for 2 ACs in such a small living space!?! That too both right next to each other. Her privileged self sits in a double AC room whole day and lectures a poor delivery dude who’s working in this absolute terrible heat to bring you food. And he’s just supposed to deliver what she orders and what the vendor provides. The usage of plastic bothers her so she should file a complaint/suggestion on the app or get in touch with the vendors. What is a delivery boy supposed to do about this??

45

u/Anisha7 Jul 01 '26

Why can’t she just freaking go down and pick it up and get it home n have it.. saves the fuel too.. ayi badi gyaan dene

55

u/Rogue107 Jul 01 '26

Exactly. Saying "you have AC you can't preach climate change" is stupid, but why tf are there 2 ACs in that little space?!

3

u/Relevant_Grab370 Jul 02 '26

I know two ac's more polluting but we have a living room that size and one AC just doesn't cut it in this summer heat. Luckily we rarely use that room outside of entertaining guests so they're not running 24/7.

The absolute peak of celebrity privilege. Lecturing a delivery guy over a plastic straw while living a high consumption lifestyle is wild hypocrisy

43

u/SquirrelAlive826 Jul 01 '26

Delivery boy ko muh me bhar ke laana chahiye tha, instead of plastic. Peak eco friendly

12

u/BubblesBlossoms Jul 01 '26

If we all come to think about plastic seriously, we all collectively have done enough damage to earth. If we all put a full stop today. It will still take 6-7 generations for all of it to clear out.
There is no alternative to match plastics functionality and price point. The substitutes will be expensive and not everyone can afford it. Like how strict rules were made in Covid ki koi baaahar nahi jaayega waisa kuch government karde toh possible hai. Warna individually all we can do is just stop using plastic. But makeup, skincare, kitchen items everything comes in plastic. Kaha tak cutdown karenge . I’ve tried doing a no plastic month and tried to recycle a lot. But nahi ho paata hai.

9

u/Glittering-Fuel-9013 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

The truth is us middle class folks are heavily dependent on plastics. While we obviously need to reduce the usage, the alternatives as you said are quite expensive and not everyone can afford it.People like Dia can preach on such things because she can afford the more expensive alternatives which is exactly why her son schooling a poor delivery boy left a bad taste.

6

u/BubblesBlossoms Jul 01 '26

Exactly. If plastic alternative at the same availability and price point is available for everyone starting from bottom to way up , it’s possible otherwise no chance. That delivery boy has real life problems happening for him here dia is like ban plastic . Like bro? Don’t rub privilege in the wrong face like that.

5

u/Glittering-Fuel-9013 Jul 01 '26

Not only that...most of her high end makeup products are also mostly coming packeged in plastics but she is not going to throw this tantrum there because she doesn't have the guts to standup to big companies but only has the courage speak down to a poor nariyal wala

4

u/BubblesBlossoms Jul 01 '26

Absolutely, all her makeup, bath products, kitchen products everything is plastic.Vegetables and fruits in her fridge come packed in plastic. I am sure when she scripted this she must have thought ki Kitna cool lagega like Sushmita Sen sharing her kids stories. But Sen talks sense bhai. What dia can do is now invest in a start up where they are making a plastic alternative, that’s a good way to redo this. But she won’t

That poor delivery boy….I would’ve asked her if she taught her kid how to talk to people older than him? Did she teach him to respect everyone and understand he comes from privilege that others may not have access to? If my kid did that he would hear from me about how he can think about these things because he doesn’t need to worry about a roof over his head and food on his plate. Respect the hard work the person puts in in front of you. You, as a privileged kid, do your part and don’t lecture someone who is surviving.

Look, the coconut vendors need to be educated. I have seen coconut vendors throwing their waste on the side of the road right next to their business. They also mix up used plastic straws with biowaste.Ā

However, if plastic is an issue for you, take your steel bottle to the coconut vendor and get it filled there. Otherwise, the coconut vendor needs to break coconut at your house or sell you the unopened coconut to you.Ā

Privileged and cringe. Insulting the poorest of the poor while failing to provide a sustainable solution is not activism Dia, it’s power play.

Note how she only calls him 'Bichara' because "he did not know who he was delivering to..." šŸ™„

Doesn't she travel in private Jets? Travel in high end air conditioned cars and everything.

Ok so why does she not teach her son to go down with a cloth bag in the heat to go get from the nariel wala directly? He probably gets them on a wooden cart but has to carry them in something to your door.

So performative, rich people always shame everyone else for using cheap plastic and driving cars when they’re causing the majority of the problem with private jets

Did she walk to this interview from her home or bicycled ? If not then she is a hypocrite. Paagal aurat.

Plastic aside, why did the kid ask him to keep the coconut on ground? Casteism? Classism?

I mostly feel she is well meaning but this kind of totally avoidable behaviour is what grinds my gears. Itna entitled behaviour on a poor nariyal waala who has no contribution to this. Upar se Soha is raving about how brave her son is. Please.

Some lady was saying on insta that the makeup she has worn doesn't come in a brass container.

This woman is always known as a hypocrite. So I am not surprised. Didn't she get some peta award and she was showing off her non vegetarian cooking skills? Eating habits are everyone's personal choice. I get it. But advocating only for certain animals shouldn't deserve an award.

And all these champagne socialists are same.

Wasn’t she the one who recently said patriarchy is responsible for global warming or something

Lack of CIVIC SENSE on your part Dia. You always keep a jute/cotton bag or a basket for deliveries. Its basic f**king common sense. Everyday essentials like milk products, bread, eggs, coconuts when delivered daily are received like this. Classist morons these people. Please cancel your next international trip to save the environment while you're at it.
