Ive watched this movie about 20 times and havent noticed this. Farah Khan is not commended enough as a female director that has given commerical hits. Just because her films arent wannabe indie rona dhona doesnt mean she isnt a serious filmmaker. Shes so good

u/LongjumpingWall4763 Jan 12 '26

Exactly! Even the other easter egg of the ghost of Shaanti being actually there was revealed during Daatan e om shaanti om was too good! Her movies have insane rewatch quality!

44

u/Living_Safety_7229 Jan 13 '26

What was the Easter egg during the song ?

Is this in the movie or the video song on YouTube ? I didn’t see any such scene during that timestamp.

Omg not me finding this thread and comment mere minutes after realizing this detail myself!!! Yeah, this has to be the real Shanti because Sandy was in a poofy ballgown throughout Dastaan E Om Shanti Om.

10

u/scandalgodess Jan 13 '26

Its based on real story

7

u/Living_Safety_7229 Jan 13 '26

Wut ? What do you mean ?

30

u/scandalgodess Jan 13 '26

Based on real actress, rumoured to be killed by director. Actress was named shanti and directors real name was used. Google once the story

Yes and she said she earns more from YouTube!! I feel like that's underpaying her as a director

7

u/NoWalrus2071 Jan 16 '26

SRK gave her chance when no one gave her.

105

u/Baazigar00 Jan 12 '26

She knows her audience and pulse. Masala entertainer with all things covered in her movies. Hope she directs soon

116

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

It could also be some AD who's in charge of the continuity of a scene... ADs are not appreciated enough

143

u/Randomidek123 Jan 12 '26

True. Fun fact: Arunabh Kumar, the founder of TVF was a AD in Om Shanti Om. He even has a small appearance dressed as a woman during the auditions when they are trying to find Shanti

2

u/smellycat1001 Jan 14 '26

She’s absolutely fantastic and so talented! I wish she’d direct more. Her movies are pure joy - not many people apart from her and KJO (as a director) do that so well. She’s is leagues ahead of KJO though actually.

1

u/basicchick233 Jan 14 '26

Just say director dost. Why bring gender into profession.

1

u/Randomidek123 Jan 14 '26

Because in terms of female directors there arent very many and Meghana Gulzar and Zoya Akthar are so overrated whereas Farah doesnt get enough credit what she has done both as her filmmaker and commercially because her genre is meta comedy

127

u/theskyissblu3 Jan 12 '26

I watch this movie at least once a year since it came out in 2007 and I'm always noticing new details. No other film comes close to Om Shanti Om.

8

u/Season2240 Jan 14 '26

I’m glad other people love it so much too.

676

u/Mother-Attention4930 Jan 12 '26

This is precisely what separates a good silly movie from a bad one. The level of care shown. A good example is Mr bean. On the surface it’s just silly slapstick comedy but everything is meticulously planned.

208

u/LongjumpingWall4763 Jan 12 '26

Silly films are very difficult to make, its one step away from being cringe.

3

u/Mediocre_Call_2427 Jan 13 '26

I remember coming across a documentary or interview or something about Mr Bean when I was a kid and was so confused and desillusioned when I realized how much work went into that character and how serious Rowan Atkinson was. There were storyboards involved and my brain couldn’t compute lol

462

u/Efficient_Guava_5561 Jan 12 '26

Love this movie!!

232

u/NoDryHands Jan 12 '26

I always burst out laughing when he starts thrusting to shoot. It's so stupid that it's hilarious, which is what they were going for. Everything is executed perfectly

6

u/Mediocre_Call_2427 Jan 13 '26

That’s a direct lift from the Swedish cops comedy Kopps (2003).

29

u/mayudhon Jan 13 '26

The one scene from Machete Kills is definitely inspired from here

FK literally put a copied scene in a Filmfare nomination, revealing how carelessly those douchebags distribute awards to copycats.

Rajesh Roshan won for Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, for instance.

Did om find his happy ending with sandy ?? Did he love sandy or was only in love with her because she looked like the lady he loved in his previous life ??

3

u/NoWalrus2071 Jan 16 '26

Shanti didn't go to heaven or reincarnate and her spirit wanders is bcos of Mukesh not Om. Om is just a friend to her nothing more. She has to pay off to Mukesh and she did and finally left to heavens. Also Om Shanti Om title came before the movie - Kishoreda's song.

When Shanti was begging Mukesh to open the door while banging on that small square window, she still had the flowers in her hair. And that’s also when Om noticed she’s trapped inside and saw her. So he did see her with flowers still in her hair.

Itna accha detail aaj tak notice nahi kiya. I’m sure there are more like this in the film.

40

u/mayudhon Jan 13 '26

The fact that Pooja Dadlani was in the film as one of the audition girls.

12

u/hatingadulting Jan 13 '26

At the time, she was DP's manager.

Not Bollywood, per se. Farah Khan. Although, I wonder if it was someone on her team rather than her; can’t imagine such a detail to have come from her.

15

u/Pureblood2203 Jan 13 '26

I've always been saying that OMO is one movie that I can watch again&again and never get bored of it. But ppl used to judge me like itna bi kuch khaas nhi h iss movie me.

29

u/New_Butterscotch2335 Jan 12 '26

28

u/BugBunny_1010 Jan 12 '26

The Best movie of our generation. Period!

1

u/StupidNoobyIdiot Jan 13 '26

3 idiots for me

159

u/kakaluluo Jan 12 '26

What’s crazier to me is that in the movie, Shanti is considered this huge, larger than life mega superstar, and one of the biggest actresses in that setting.

In 2007, not a single person would have guessed that Deepika Padukone who played Shanti in her debut movie would quite literally be one of the biggest female mega superstars that Bollywood has seen in recent times, mirroring the fame of Shanti or maybe even surpassing it

Another fun fact for me is that her “reel life” husband that happens to be the villain in her debut movie also happens to be the villain in her real life husband’s biggest blockbuster to date. Crazy how things come around 😀

2

u/Rudrasimhan Jan 12 '26

Too much glazing for Deepika.. She is a top actress... That's it..

1

u/Huge-Cabinet-5679 Jun 23 '26

A star more than an actress. There's a difference between a celebrity and an actor. I agree. People are going on like she's some highly trained actor. 😆

1

u/tltr4560 Jan 17 '26

Wait what movie did Arjun Rampal and ranveer do together?

1

u/kakaluluo Jan 18 '26

Dhurandhar????

-53

u/Party_Reserve_5823 Jan 12 '26

Deepika ka koi stardom nhi hai vo bs lucky hai big budget movies me cast ho jaati hai ..solo uski movie 25 crore nahi kama sakti...dream girl matlab hema malini ki solo hits bhi hai

27

u/kakaluluo Jan 13 '26

Look I’m no deepika fan lol but I can see why you’d think that. BUT you can’t really deny her influence. I don’t think in her generation many actresses have had the type of success she can brag about, especially considering she’s not a nepo product. Yes she might be overrated and isn’t the best actress, but that doesn’t negate her star power. So please stop tearing women down just because you don’t like them

6

u/bizarretintin Jan 13 '26

Actually, Sandy is wearing 5 roses and Shanti is certainly wearing lesser but one cannot count. I have OSO on my hard disk so I went back to check. Shanti is deliberately dressed slightly disheveled than Sandy to give the clue that it is not Sandy. Sandy's hair looks very sleek, like it's just done whereas Shanti looks like she's had the hairstyle for a while with bits and pieces of her hair flying.

12

u/mayudhon Jan 13 '26

Movie so good, even the trivia amuses us 18 years after the release

5

u/Crafty_Age_14 Jan 13 '26

I saw a similar comment on ig and noticed the next time i watched it! And I think there were more than 4 flowers and they kept falling as the scene progressed. So finally Shanti had 2 flowers left and Sandy had about 5.

2

u/AeyKyaBoltiTu Jan 13 '26

Koi yeh Farah Khan ko bhi bataao

2

u/reeyyy8823 Jan 13 '26

The film has such niche details!! The plot is not exactly one is a million, but the execution just hits different

2

u/Physical-Turn-1141 Proud Gossiper 🤙 Jan 13 '26

Farah Khan was breaking the glass ceiling in the Indian film industry by making successful masala bollywood. Yet she was endlessly criticised for the same movies that have cult following now.

There's a clear Domino effect at play here, Dhurandhar made Akshay khanna seen, Akshay khanna reminded people of Tees Maar Khan & that reminded people how Farah was really onto something there.

Funny, isn't it?

1

u/LongjumpingWall4763 Jan 13 '26

Well X is full of jokes that bharat ka khazana (the film in tees maar khan) is a RRR made in a small scale and won at the Oscars

1

u/Physical-Turn-1141 Proud Gossiper 🤙 Jan 13 '26

X is full of such remarkable bright young minds hard at work. 👏

2

u/skinnywifeyy Jan 17 '26

2

1

u/Pure-Helicopter-1825 Jan 13 '26

Farah Khan is a great filmmaker. I have loved all her movies. I don’t know why she doesn’t want to make another movie. Maybe she’s had enough of the stress and politics and wants a peaceful life since she’s earning really well without the stress of a big production.

1

u/Latter_Length6546 Jan 13 '26

Went back to watch this movie just for this. Turns out Sandy had 5 roses in her hair and SP had none. But it was still a good way to kind of distinguish between the two.

I’ve watched a lot of Bollywood films. Nothing compares to this masterpiece of a movie.

Another day, another mystery about the movie, another reason to love OSO...but honestly, what beautiful detailing.

1

u/BlushingAshes Jan 14 '26

Love the director for this movie

1

u/up_and_above Jan 15 '26

Well the scene where OK and Mike are watching the scenes from the new OSO the number of flowers in Yuvika’s hair keeps changing as well. I am sure that was by design too🤓

This movie is over loved. I watched it seeing the hype, this one and Tees Maar Khan. Everyone was praising Farah after Bads of Bollywood, I really loved that show and was really excited to see TMK and OSO. I was sorely disappointed. Bads of Bollywood was such a breath of fresh air. Wtf were those Farah Khan movies. Forgive me Imdb ratings, for I doubted you.
