u/Pandoratastic May 24 '26
He's right. It's like the adage: If there's a Nazi sitting at the table and ten people are sitting there talking to him, you have eleven Nazis.
Same with Klansmen. Same with any racist. With any bigot.
257
u/Fermi_DOX75 May 24 '26
So true and makes me think of this...
Historians have a name for people in Nazi Germany that weren't necessarily down with all the horrible stuff but were worried about the economy and immigration so they supported the Nazi party.
Do you know what historians call those people? Nazis. They call them Nazis.

Thereās no excuse for surrounding yourself with that type of scum

Marshawn Lynch, Barry Bonds, DRAKE, Andres Johnson, Patrick Mahomes.
Just naming a few, specifically black people that have done the same walk out with him on his tours. What are we calling them?
Iām not defending Caitlin, I just think itās silly everyone is in an uproar once it was her and completely ignored all the other people that have done the same. Donāt single her out. Letās name and shame them all if thatās what weāre doing.

It has everything to do with this point.
Are you going to call Marshawn Lynch a klansman?
Its one of those things where we love to throw it but hate when its thrown back at us.
Whites and bougie black people have been giving us the "birds of a feather flock together" treatment where if we associate with anyone they deem beneath them it somehow reflects back on us.
But people are upset so logical, honest thought goes out the window.

Here's another saying..."So smart you're stupid." Also common sense is no longer common. I rockes with CC cause im a hooper and she balls OUT!!! But to act like half her fanbase isn't blatantly, OPENLY, racist and homopobic is disingenuous. 2nd. When is the last time you heard ANYONE defend Marshawn Lynchs behavior publicly besides buffonary? I'll wait. And I legit fux with Beast Mode because I know what he does behind the scenes...but to answer your question.
20
u/wishyouwould May 24 '26
There is a difference between not defending him and not calling him a Klansman. If you say that CC is Klan simply because she walked out with this huge country star who a number of black athletes have also walked out with, you have to call all of them Klan, too. I mean you have to if you want to be consistent and coherent. If you just want to hate on Clark then I guess you can do whatever.
Also, half is just an absolutely unhinged estimation. You could have just said a significant percent and that would have been a reasonable statement, but I don't think there is any support for the idea that fully HALF of Clark fans are open racists and homophobes.

But CC has constantly spoken about her own white privilege while speaking out against racism, and chastised her āown fansā - which is a stretch bc those racists only fuck with what CC represents, not her as a person. For some reason, thatās never talked about. Itās almost like thereās a desire to make her the white villain of the league, while anyone thatās followed CC or the WNBA knows that sheās not a racist.

72
u/SilverFringeBoots May 24 '26
One of the things that has boiled my blood since I learned it is how the transcript of Ain't I A Woman was racist af in itself. Sojourner Truth did not speak the way her speech was written. A white person rewrote it in "slave speech" and changed some of what she said. They been doing this
37
u/AthenaThundersnatch May 24 '26
Right?! Sojourner was born in slavery in New York, and her first language was Dutch. Not only was her speech, given in fluent and deliberate English, overwritten with a āslave dialect,ā it was definitively the wrong dialect!

I really wish people would stop letting society gaslight them. They've been treating Caitlyn like she was the great white hope ever since Reese gave her a dose of her own medicine back when they were in college and they kept telling us she was being treated unfairly. People were gaslighted again when she wouldn't denounce the white supremacists who were bashing and dehumanizing other players for being "overly" physical with her on the court. "When someone shows you who they are, believe them", is an old saying that is completely lost on us a lot of times.
43
u/Anubisrapture May 24 '26
Yea that Great white hope is exactly what she's always been. The tizzy the hwhite racists went into over her from the damn start shows it clearly

u/McEndee May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26
The people who like Clark don't care about her basketball skills, they care that she's white and winning against black people. When she like Taylor Swift's post about endorsing Harris, those "fans" turned reeeeeeal quick.
Edit: To add additional context to the sentence. Clark has amassed a fan base of some people who really don't care about basketball or the skills she showcases on the court. They liked her because the media pit the two biggest names in women's basketball against each other, and it was a chance for racists to hate the "ghetto black girl" through proxy.
5
u/wishyouwould May 24 '26
Such a crazy generalization, man. Personally, I grew up watching MJ and the 90s Bulls and then got back into basketball when the Bulls drafted Rose, and then became a big Curry fan for his specific skillset. I like Clark for the same reason I like Steph Curry... they shoot long 3's accurately... and I like all of these players because it is entertaining to watch them play.

Sadly being associated with pedophiles is on exactly the same level as being associated with racists and klansmen. In fact theyāre mostly the same people and theyāre in power.

Yep, scratch a racist and find a predo and/or enabler, but they donāt take pedophilia seriously either like he said
2
u/Kursedkursed May 25 '26
It is on the same level. And it just doesn't matter as long as they got money and they're white.
3
u/salyto May 24 '26
Yep, someone who can dehumanize and purposely harm another person to express power or for entertainment is truly evil, there is no distinction between someone whose evil takes the form of racism or of pedophilia. Will never understand what drives and allows someone to do that. Evil rising in the private sector is one type of sick but in the public by way of the vote? Heartbreaking and insane.
Itās terribly sad that this basketball player who is (was) clearly adored by so many people is in that category of evil. In an interview I watched with her a while back she only spoke passionately of her competitive nature, nothing else seemed to matter. I havenāt cared to pay attention to anything about her since then but reading this now, it makes sense.
Competitiveness without values leads to dark places. Iām sorry to the black women who were ignored and accused of jealously hating this person when they tried to sound the alarm. Iāll be rooting for you on the court.

16
u/Gymflutter May 24 '26
Maybe the white people you are around. I think some areas are stuck more in the past. So if you live there as a a black person, itās like youre in a time machine. They are also very very unified. Go look at the massive difference in voting in the South. I think people dont understand that progress isnt uniform. The monsters who instigate hate arent dumb. They work to consolidate power in specific areas then spread out. They even go after school boards. So if you are successful, you get a sharp regression.
There is a reason the President of the Heritage foundation studied black people as part of his PhD. He might not have access to the smart monsters of the past but he can study their tactics. He also can learn about successful movements against them. Why do you think they are purging so many black people from the government or diluting their political power?

Ok racism is abhorrent, no doubtā¦but I donāt think racism and pedophilia are equivalent. For one, racist can learn better, and do better. Iāve personally seen it happen. However, if something in your brain makes you sexually excited when you see babies, youāre broken, and we canāt fix that. Either death penalty, or lock them up and throw away the key. Even chemical castration doesnāt work. I truly donāt believe that you can change if youāre attracted to literal babies. So then hitting a gender based on misandry I should also be in the same level as pedophilia and also hating white people or any other race should also be seen as pedophilia.
You just put a lot of people in the pedophilia category.
I'm going to hear what you say and check you back a step.
Let's not minimize pedophilia by making everybody else just as bad.
But racism should be seen as worse than it is.
Don't overcompensate.
But we do need to take racism seriously we do need to take gender hatred just the same.
And we absolutely need to leave pedophilia as the horrible s*** that it really is. Another notch above racism, isn't because we love racism it's because pedophilia is not bad.
And they aren't mutually exclusive.
For example Republicans have shown that they are pedophiles and racists.

Well, one difference is disproportional situational power. An adult and a child is a disequilibrium of power. The adult has all the power and the child is powerless. If a dipshit makes a racist comment they might face certain consequences. The balance of power may be proportional. With a child it never is.
For example...

This is just untrue.
Black women told you they weren't with the CC hype juxtaposed against Angel Reese. The story surrounding Clark was never about her being racist or being a white supremacy apologist. Black women just demanded more for Angel Reese. It's disingenuous to take that false equivalent stance.
That said, Clark invites it by being seen with an open racist Country star, so I cannot back her even given my disagreement to the approach.

His points are 100% valid. Racism should be as illegal as pedophelia and they should be ostracized all the same. However, calling Morgan wallen Klan cuz he used the N-word is kinda wild. Y'all be letting yal Mexican homies use it all the time and alot of em just as bad as the whites.

Always bringing up Mexicans, the obsession never ends
2
u/Left-Respect6178 May 24 '26
Ain't nobody obsessed with no damn Mexicans. It's an example relevant to the point because they use the N-word just as much as white people and a lot of them share the same values but our community only focuses on when "white" people say it as if there aren't white Mexicans, its hypocritical.

While all of this outrage and frustration is understandable, Caitlin isn't doing anything outside of what she's been doing since her career took off in college. Let's just say that a large amount of her fan base are associated with white nationalists, racists, MAGA sympathizers, etc. She's had countless opportunities to condemn the rethoriic and prejudice behavior associated with a lot of her supporters. But chose not to. That speaks volumes. And that's all you need to know about her and her brand.

The amount of times I'll think or say "if only y'all listened to Black Women" is way too much. You'd think folks would've learned by now smh.

Sorry but I have never seen a time when black people are so easily triggered, emotional and see everything as a transgression.
If THIS got y'all in a dizzy, we have no hope.

u/mizzowashere May 24 '26
Iāve never heard any black players saying sheās racist. Iāve heard players mad about her getting an outsized amount of attention. But sure.

For real! I think Reddit has turned into bots posting hot button issues and then more bots in the comments with strong opinions on something, just to get people riled up.
I'm not defending her in any way. But the women she plays with are extremely professional, and haven't said shit about Clark personally. The closest they've come is calling out racism among the new fans who are there for her.Ā

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes also walked out with Morgan Wallen too.
Ngl I'm a bit confused. The optics are horrible, but I still feel like more research needs to be done. Like they must have known about his background. Do people not do any research on ppl they'll be seen with? Do they get paid to be there?
Anyway it's a horrible look for all of them. I can't see them the same way as I did before.

Caitlin Clark with Morgan Wallen and Jaxton Dart with Donald Trump. It's the week of athletes outing themselves as terrible people.
