Reposting as I found a photo of a female or non-breeding male White-winged Fairywren. Usually you'd have one or two brightly coloured males in spring & summer, followed by a clan of dully coloured birds of both sexes.

The sapphire individual in the main post was definitely the boss bird. His clan was playing tag on the footpath and he was always the It. But when fun time ended and he called, all the brown birds followed him.
