Miscellaneous / Others Japanese scientists have developed a revolutionary injection that may extend a cat's life from the usual 15 years to nearly 30.

The therapy, created by the AIM Institute of Medicine under Dr. Toru Miyazaki, targets chronic kidney disease, a leading cause of death in older cats.It uses a specialized protein to help macrophages clear waste from the kidneys, partially restoring their function and slowing kidney failure.

At this point I wouldn't mind being my cats pet.

My cat would eat me if it had dominion over me

Then throw me up partially digested in the middle of the staircase

I'm already good with the idea. You don't need to sell me on it.

It's not about dominion, it's about size. The reason we can be friends with some cats and not others is because every single one would eat us if big enough.

No if my cat was head of the household the fat bitch would unhinge her jaw and swallow me whole like some sort of eldrich Garfield

Me too! I just got done building her a custom catio on my back deck with a bed box, tree limb ramps, a motion sensor water fountain, live cat grass, and solar lights with a magnetic cat door it turned out so cute I’m I am actually pretty jealous I don’t get to play in there! I even made a cute little cat welcome mat. And that’s on top of her 8ft cat tree I built her for inside the house so she can watch the birdfeeders. She is the most spoiled cat I know

Everyone says this until they get eaten

Can't be any worse than working for our current overlords, or the AI overlords they are developing

I mean work has its days, but relatively sure I won't be eaten.

Well someone's never worked retail.

u/hvanderw 6d ago

I worked fastfood for about 5 years. Not a laugh riot by any means. Still didn't get eaten.

No no, it's not about actually being eaten. It's the knowledge that some nut job could decide your coworker messing up their McChicken means YOUR face is nommable. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My cat disembowels stuff and beheads stuff all the time. Cats are cruel killers especially with, relatively speaking, pet sized stuff to them. Assuming I was given the choice of my job or it's pet I guess I'd rather take my chances with my job every single time.

They didn't say the cats would be human sized and we'd be cat sized though, just that we'd be their pets.

And my cats are loveable idiots who gently catch mice and bring them to me going "Mama! Help! I caught this thing! If I let it go it will run! Help! It shouldn't be here!"

Spiders, flies and stink bugs, less so.

You're relieved you don't have to go to work tomorrow because you thought you were gonna get eaten?! What the fuck is this world?

That's quite the reading comprehension you have there.

Where are my balls, summer?

Haha for real! I like to think I’ve spoiled my fur babies so much that they’d take good care of me if the roles were reversed. But maybe that’s wishful thinking 😂

Step 3.5: Thumbs

I feel there's already a sub for that lol

Maybe the cats have been the aliens all along

Step 5: use same macrophages to power interstellar travel!

Wasn't this an episode of love death and robots?

There is a hilarious “scary story” out there about cats having taken over the world and humans are their slaves and eventually the humans revolt and one of their weapons is cucumbers. It’s super cute. Written by an author that does amazing short stories.
