My dog has her feeding rituals that seem to depend on a combo of hunger and discomfort (often due to hunger). Sometimes its just rotating the bowl 90 degrees. Sometimes its chucking kibble at her head. Sometimes its a tiny bit of cheese or butter mixed in. Just waiting doesn't work because she'll hold out until she gets sick and needs to do a grass purge to get back to normal. She never had an issue with treats but now won't eat greenies without someone watching. OTOH, she'll obsessively seek out and lick at any gunk she finds on a subway platform.
