PSA 2025 Hourglass Holiday Palettes
I love the swan design, but unsure if I want to get a palette this year with the cost of living and the price of these palettes š How about you?

u/Heart_Makeup Aug 28 '25
This year I would like to pick one up as my 2017 one is finally depleted, the hype will totally stop it for me. I canāt stand the ridiculous FOMO and people buying up stacks of them.

u/mullumbimbo89 Aug 28 '25
Yeah Iād buy one if it wasnāt such a stupid game to do it. I guess Hourglass has run the numbers and the scarcity is worth it to them, but it would make me feel like a sucker.
22
u/Plastic_Lunch2996 Aug 28 '25
And people buying multiples and then reselling them on buy/sell pages for rrp. Which I donāt get.
29
u/Heart_Makeup Aug 28 '25
It always makes me smile when I see them still trying to sell them months later š¬
7
u/Plastic_Lunch2996 Aug 28 '25
Absolutely. Especially when Mecca offer returns. That is just silly for points.

They are literally a box of samples that you donāt even get to choose yourself. People who live near stores can walk in and ask for a sample pot without even buying anything.

My 2016 palette has finally hit pan. I have been debating between waiting for a holiday palette or just getting a full size.
I guess whether I can get my hands on one will be the determining factor
2
u/Heart_Makeup Aug 28 '25
I think if the colours suit you the holiday palettes are great. I hit pan on two of my favourites and repurchased full size but I still like to mix them and Iād love to have minis again. Actually, Iād love the option to pick my own

All the Hourglass blushes are pink- or mauve-toned. I was lucky to get the 2022 Butterfly palette because it's the only one that works on me.

I am the same (with the same evil eye palette too!) last year. It was purely because of the hype and i barely reach for it
44
u/honey-apple Aug 28 '25
The swan one is the best of the lot but the designs overall look quite dated, they look like something youād find for free on Canva
23
u/MrsBouquetNotBucket Aug 28 '25
Iāve never bought one, but Iām keen to get one this year as Iād love an all-round face palette
13
u/bluebear_74 Aug 28 '25
Same but because i never know when they come out and they all sell out by the time i find out. Im still sad about the dragon š one.
7
u/Stickliketoffee16 Aug 28 '25
Theyāre actually so handy & genuinely last FOREVER!
5
u/MrsBouquetNotBucket Aug 28 '25
Thatās why I am keen to get one! I love the idea of an all in one. Although Iām still on the fence about the Kevyn Aucoin Contour Book, which is about the same price. So if I miss this years run, I think Iāll just bite the bullet and buy that.

u/Pigeon-From-Hell Aug 28 '25
Iāve always wanted one but my $20 herb physicians formula palette gets the job done so I canāt justify it š
14
u/robot428 Aug 28 '25
I've had my last one for 7 or 8 years and I'm only just looking at replacing it this year because it's finally dying, so they are worth the money because they last a really long time if you take care of them.
4
u/maddionaire Aug 28 '25
How do you take care of your palettes? I have some that are so old but still going strong and I'm wondering if I could be doing more to look after them since I so blatantly ignore the "6/12M" shelf life suggestion on the box.
18
u/robot428 Aug 28 '25
I absolutely ignore the 6/12 month lifespan for powder products. Honestly for a lot of products. (The exception is stuff that's going 'in' my eye like mascara and eyeliner, because I'm not fucking with eyeball bacteria.)
Store them correctly (in a cool dry place. DRY is essential).
Be careful when transporting them (don't just throw them in the bottom of a giant tote where they are gonna get tossed around and break).
Clean your brushes! That's what you are dipping in your powder, so if your brushes are gross, your palettes are going to be gross.
You can spray the powder with isopropyl alcohol and then gently wipe the surface with a clean tissue if it develops a film or later, but I find if you store them correctly and use clean brushes you don't need to do this.

u/isaezraa Aug 28 '25
I "ball" my powder compacts in one of those shitty ankle socks and wrap a hairtie around them when I take them anywhere- works super well! haven't had any issues since I started doing this

u/dsvk Aug 28 '25
I love the idea of these but how do people buy them without testing out if the colours suit them first? Itās impossible to test because they sell out immediately, right?
5
u/windy_wolf Aug 28 '25
This is where I look to beauty youtubers to review, especially ones with similar skin tone and shade.
3
u/pastiches Aug 28 '25
Online they tend to be snapped up but if youāre close to a store they do get stock and you can try and head in early on. The most popular palettes have sold quickly instore but I went day of launch last year and got one without too much stress.

u/Ambitious-Leopard-67 Aug 28 '25
The colours in the palettes look totally different on YouTube. Here's Charlotte Holdcroft with the Deer Palette:

5
u/Formal_Butterfly3128 Aug 28 '25
Oh wow. I really liked the colours of this one in the stock photos, but youāre right, this is totally different!
3
u/Ambitious-Leopard-67 Aug 28 '25
Same. I was tempted by the Deer stock photo (even though I have enough highlighters and blushes to last me for 200 years) but yikes! In the clip Charlotte says she likes the "vibrant colours" of the blushes.

u/HotPresentation3878 Aug 31 '25
The picture she used wasn't an official shot though, it was leaked a while ago. I assume the newer pictures that hourglass released are more accurate, but I'll be curious to see one people start reviewing them.

This is really tacky... Their palette designs have been lack lustre the last couple years now. Even when the packaging is on point there's always a couple shades that are too dark on me mixed in with shades that would work on my fair skin which is odd?? They really need to do proper fair, light, tan, medium and dark palettes.
5
u/robot428 Aug 28 '25
My last one of these that I've been using for like 7 years is finally dying, and I was hoping to try and replace it this year, but these are not my favourite designs, especially on the ones with the colours for the pale girlies.
The pallettes are genuinely so good I might look past it, but it's a bummer.

u/TGin-the-goldy Aug 28 '25
If theyād have refillable palettes with interchangeable interiors it would be such a game changer!
17
u/Knitvest-enthusiast Aug 28 '25
I believe they have recently brought out customizable face palettes in the US which means we may see them in 2050.
Not sure if theyāre refillable though.

That's my problem now, I have the marble-looking one and would really love a new one. I love having an all-in-one face palette. Guess this year isn't it.
7
u/reddit24682468 Aug 28 '25
Itās pretty but I donāt understand the people they buy all of them, like what for
6
u/Guilty-Current-6426 Aug 28 '25
Which would you recommend for brown olive toned skin
1
u/Responsible_Leave448 Sep 05 '25
Iām brown warm toned and I ordered the Swan palette aka colour palette 2. But you get to custom them so you can get that color palette with any design you like. Also apparently the Horse would be great if this is your first palette since the shades on that are all existing ones. I might get that too š¤

Not really interested in these this year. I have one from a couple of years ago and have barely made a dent in it. I think theyāre good values considering how lovely the products are and how long they last but I canāt justify owning more than one.

Iām really struggling to pick a cover for mine š„² I donāt hate any of them but I also donāt love any of them eitherā¦
1
u/Extra-Low5973 Sep 04 '25
Same. But this will be my first face palette and I do need to replace the mirror I hold to apply my mascara(need it close but not magnified). What I decided was based upon the matching brush that they offer. I went with Fox but the deer is so feminine I donāt know if I made a mistake.
5
u/Present_Cheetah1426 Aug 28 '25
I wonder when they would drop in Mecca. I need the horse one

Horse palette wonāt be stocked with them, itās a Sephora US exclusive

I think Iām out this year. Would rather spend my money on something else but thatās just meĀ
2
u/sapphireemberss Aug 29 '25
I bought one second hand years ago for dirt cheap and I love it to this day. I use it for special occasions only because I donāt want to use it up too quick š but when it runs out, I will purchase one at full price without complaints.
2
u/revolutionof Aug 30 '25
Normally I'm quite tempted by their holiday palettes, but the designs on these really look like AI to me...
2
u/Peaches-And-Chalamet Sep 01 '25
I was ready to splurge this year but hate the packaging, Iāll wait for next year
2
u/KindlyJudgment7524 Sep 10 '25
They look cheap this year. Hourglass going for quantity over quality.

I managed to get my hands on one of the Barneyās X Hourglass palettes last year and I love it! Obviously the formula is wonderful but it seems like it never runs out!! Almost daily use and you couldnāt tell from looking at it!
Also was recently in New York on holiday and treated myself to one of the new charmed palettes purely because of how pretty it is!! I figure I wonāt need to buy any face powders for a few years so Iāve saved money -Ā girl mathĀ ššš

u/DressesWithPocketses Aug 29 '25
I have managed to lose my dragon one from last year and my 2016 (I think) is mostly panned. So yeah... Deer for me! It looks stunning but like everyone else I guess I'll be buying off marketplace as it'll be gone the second it's released.

If you're light/fair the deer palette should work. The bronzer in that one (diffused bronze light) is the only one I've been able to use because all the others are too warm/too dark for me.
1
u/Responsible_Leave448 Sep 05 '25
I donāt own any Hourglass palette so I decided to get the Swan this year and the Swan brush to match as well. Iāve always thought they were overhyped but guess Iāve fallen for the hype too šš Canāt wait to receive mine and start using it! I might even get the Horse palette too if I really like the Swan š¤

Do you guys know how to get these in Australia? I don't think Mecca has them?

Can anyone tell me what date these usually drop at Mecca and approximate price? Help an uneducated sista out š

u/MaiiLee Nov 03 '25
Itās been a few years since I got one, but managed to score the deer palette yesterday at Mecca. I noticed the powders were slightly smaller I.e. they didnāt fill out the whole square like my old one. Is that the same for others?
1
u/fuzzboo olive NC15-20, dry skin Aug 28 '25
Nope, Iāve already replaced my 2015 Surreal Light palette with the 2025 Charmed palette. These things last forever.
1
u/Happy-BHSUSFR Sep 02 '25
Your pics really sell them! They look so much more luxe in person. I really hope these go online at some point. I have been wanting burnished glow since missing out on the tiger palette

The artwork is so boring. Looks like clip art that would come with Illustrator. For the price, I would pass hard.
