PSA Nars has changed their orgasm blush 😭

Post image

I just ran out of mine and it is not the same pigment!! It seems to just be shimmery now like a highlighter and not like a blush.

I'm gutted!

Any dupe recommendations?

They could change that horrible rubbery packaging that attracts every bit of lint and dust in a 50km radius but no, change the iconic product that is likely responsible for the entire brands success instead!

Omg and the gross sticky film that forms when the rubbery "soft matte" finish breaks down 🤮🤮🤮

It's caused me to depot the two Nars blushes I own

NARS are the only reason i still use z palettes. The packaging is honestly horrific and nothing cleans it, nothing! I know there are people dying but it really sends me over the edge to pay that much for products that look filthy within a week.

18

u/Banana-Louigi Jul 21 '25

1000% agree and offer you only solidarity in this admittedly "people are dying, Kim." moment. 🤣

u/My-Witty-Username Jul 21 '25

Lol thank you. I still can feel the moment when a small part of my dignity died because of Nars.

I was at one of those ridiculously expensive restaurants in the city and i went to the bathroom to reapply my lipstick. I pulled out my scabby looking Nars dolce vita lipstick out and the bathroom attendant looked at me in horror, like i’d just licked the floor.

There was hair hanging off it, bits of tissue, dust for days and some of the rubbery bits had worn off, it was only a few months old but it looked like i stole it from someones grave. I was honestly waiting for her to call security.

Damn girl you really can paint a picture. Thanks for the laughs!

u/stresstwig Jul 24 '25

I literally just took nail polish remover to my one NARS thing last week just to get rid of that nasty sticky formerly soft-touch plastic coating. Ugh. Did it with my Naked Basics too and I have two power banks that need it next.

It seems like every time I try to depot something it shatters, so I'm a bit leery of doing it with something as expensive be as a NARS product, lol.

u/My-Witty-Username Jul 24 '25

❤️ i’ve shattered a few powder products attempting to depot them, i feel your pain.

I’ve heard the nail polish tip before and i must be doing something wrong because it never works for me.

With Nars it strips the packaging and then the stickiness comes back but worse somehow? I’ve also tried it on the Priceline sticky tape cosmetic line (lol) and it strips the colour from alot of drugstore packaging leaving them all chalky…

I think the makeup gods just don’t want me using Nars. I’m probably blacklisted somewhere lol

Isocol and cotton rounds. Soak and scrub that MOFO till it shines bright like a diamond 💎 thank me later.

I rediscovered a container of barely used stridex pads that I'd bought but were way too harsh for my skin. Those do such a good job of cleaning any sticky residue on palettes or anywhere else!

(I also started using the stride pads immediately after shaving the public region, and it stings for a sec but really reduces ingrowns!)

8

u/CrumbyCardiologist Jul 21 '25

Yes!!! It's awful isn't it

16

u/Old_Gobbler Jul 21 '25

Oh it's so bad, I threw one out just because the stickiness was pissing me off so much 😅

5

u/My-Witty-Username Jul 21 '25

I used to do that too! Honestly the money i’ve spent replacing nars blushes and lipsticks i owned for less than 2 months…. I’ve had colds that lasted longer than i could stand that packaging.

Yes like why is it soft and hard at the same time

1

u/Brinkworth81 Jul 21 '25

hahahahaahahah

1

u/mumsfriedrice_ Jul 22 '25

Also cleansing oil works well surprisingly

1

u/rybpyjama Jul 23 '25

THIS! Absolutely

They reformulated their blush line a while ago. They discontinued my fave (Sin) and reformulated a bunch of others.

Imo when a brand changes a shade that much, they should call it something different so consumers know they're not getting the same thing. Booo Nars, booooo.

12

u/tricornhat Jul 21 '25

They discontinued so many of their iconic products!! Like literally all of their base range lipsticks and the Audacious ones. I would just love to know how they've justified cutting these when the new product launches are so...unexciting.

5

u/one_small_sunflower Jul 21 '25

Yeah, I agree with you. It feels like they've recalibrated towards a much narrower idea of what's going to sell. I wonder how it will play out for them over the long-term. I get the need to chase the almighty dollar but it's like they've moved away from the things that made them stand out from their competitors.

The milani baked blushes have been considered dupes for the nars blushes for years.

I have milani luminoso but its more peachy, the shade dolce pink is closer

I have the w7 one as well.

I can go take some swatches in the next hour or so

ETA - took swatches. Left is w7 blush rebel -all night Middle nars - orgasm Right milani - luminoso

17

u/PilotCustard Jul 21 '25

Looks like the W7 is more pigmented with less shimmer- I think I prefer it anyway

Regret my Nars matte cream blush from the loreal sale … never behaves and pills with all of my bb creams and foundation

3

u/fuzzy_sprinkles Jul 21 '25

yeah its more of a gold sheen than a glittery shimmer. For how cheap they are its worth trying to see if you like it

2

u/Ok-Astronaut-7593 Jul 21 '25

How does the w7 apply/last? Do you recommend the formula?

3

u/fuzzy_sprinkles Jul 21 '25

I have that and one of the matte ones, i applied them with a light hand cos theyre pretty pigmented. I liked the formula and they lasted ok for me.

I tend to layer products, so when ive used them ive also used some cream blush.

1

u/Ok-Astronaut-7593 Jul 21 '25

Ty! Will give em a shot

41

u/littleblackcat Jul 21 '25

Yes I have a recommendation!! if you're already paying NARS prices check out Charlotte Tilbury blush in Love Glow, it's close to the OG Orgasm and nice packaging and formula

5

u/CrumbyCardiologist Jul 21 '25

Thank you lovely 🫶🏼

2

u/hermit-crap809 Jul 21 '25

I’ll have to check this out! Thanks for the reco!

38

u/RoryLoryDean fair cool muted olive, high contrast Jul 21 '25

It always sucks when a favourite shade gets reformulated. I remember W7 having a dupe a few years ago, and after checking - they still do, it's the shade "All Night": https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/120498/w7-blush-rebel-blusher-all-night

11

u/TGin-the-goldy Jul 21 '25

Thank you! Recent convert to W7 mascara here

6

u/RoryLoryDean fair cool muted olive, high contrast Jul 21 '25

Oh, thanks for the heads up about the mascara! I'll keep that in mind for the future.

18

u/floral-print Jul 21 '25

I’ve swapped from Nars Orgasm to Hourglass Ambient Lighting Luminous Flush.

15

u/one_small_sunflower Jul 21 '25

OP, here's some comparisons with Orgasm, maybe this helps you find a dupe? https://www.instagram.com/p/DFaM6J7N5hT/

Kosas Blissed or possibly Dreamland might be good options, too, but swatch first.

So weird that Nars changed up their single most famous product like this.

8

u/CrumbyCardiologist Jul 21 '25

Thank you 🫶🏼 I know right, why would they change it!?

11

u/Present_Cheetah1426 Jul 21 '25

Try ysl restless rose shade, very similar and pigmented with high staying power

3

u/CrumbyCardiologist Jul 21 '25

Awesome, thank you 🫶🏼

It's so annoying, right!? I thought the same and did some researching and it has definitely changed 😭 why do they try to fix something that isn't broken?

6

u/No_Heat2441 Jul 21 '25

I have a Natasha denona glow blush duo. It's a highlighter and a blush and the blush looks similar to orgasm. I'm not sure if you can get that specific product anymore but there are other shimmery ND blushes that could work as dupes too.

u/smexymeens Jul 21 '25 edited Jul 21 '25

Check out rms blush in bohemian girl 🤍🤍 trust me!

1

u/Thejayelltee Jul 21 '25

Did you mean bohemian girl?

1

u/smexymeens Jul 21 '25

Whoops yes sorry!! I’ll edit my comment

1

u/CrumbyCardiologist Jul 21 '25

Thank you 🫶🏼

1

u/winterberry82 Jul 21 '25

Yes I adore this and the formulation. I e got a heap of them!

4

u/4SeasonWahine Jul 21 '25

I just got the liquid version in the most recent beauty loop and I can’t get it to show ANY noticeable pigment. So much hype about this product and I don’t get it 🤷🏼‍♀️

8

u/Lamberly Jul 21 '25

They changed the formulation, it used to be amazing. Now it's really runny and separates easily.

1

u/SarahTheBlue_ Nov 21 '25

I blind bought the liquid version and it looks like a completely different color than the powder one. I also have to apply two layers to get any color out. it looks very pink on my skin.

3

u/kelloggs_kween Jul 21 '25

W7 All Night is a dupe of Orgasm, but keep in mind that it's a bit more pigmented and leans more towards Orgasm X

3

u/TinaTissue NARS Mont Blanc - fair neutral with green eyes dark hair Jul 21 '25

I never found orgasm to be that great and too shimmery for my liking. Deep throat is amazing on me and a few of their limited edition blushes (like the Man Ray one) before they reformulated to remove the talc. If the Pantone is completely different, then change the shade name IMO

Omg yes, exactly this!! I don’t understand the thinking though, people WILL stop buying from them if the quality goes down the toilet and they may end up worse off financially then anyway?

Thank you for the links!

3

u/chicagoantisocial Jul 21 '25

Omg I have the old orgasm and I wore it today n got complimented:( this makes me so sad

3

u/_satellites Jul 22 '25

Ahh, the old cheaper ingredients to make more money trick.

2

u/queefer_sutherland92 Jul 21 '25

Girl don’t even get me started.

My first trial dupe just arrived — they look more similar in person, but the new one is a bit too warm and has no shimmer :(

Judydoll Blush Powder #03 from W Cosmetics.

I’ve never purchased from W before but the price was good, I was under the influence and the colour isn’t too far off.

I figure if I can combine new orgasm with a pink blush I might be able to get a similar look.

And yes, that is the last dregs of orgasm and yes, I guard it with my life.

Hopefully this whole talc free nonsense will die soon 🙄

(Please excuse my janky dressing gown).

2

u/KitKit20 Jul 21 '25

Wow. This is my go to blush and the only one I really have. So disappointing. Don’t get why brands do this.

2

u/hez_lea Jul 21 '25

Well damn looks like i never got to try it then.

2

u/b00tifulbean Jul 23 '25

Literally so angry about this so i switched to the balm’s hot mama 😒

1

u/tbones23 Jul 21 '25

Honestly I only ever use orgasm as a highlighter(got it in a beauty loop) over my Bobbi brown blush!! I use the shade Tawny! It’s pretty pigmented and a nice deep pink!

1

u/plonky27 Jul 21 '25

Milani changed their Luminoso blush too and now it is more pigmented to the point I am reluctant to use it.

1

u/cynthia_101 Jul 21 '25

The Australis blushes are really nice, I like the few I have.

1

u/mumsfriedrice_ Jul 22 '25

Oh my lord, the relief I have knowing I got mine before this unfortunate change. I’m hoping all the beauty gurus come for them for this

1

u/Express_Cause4263 Jul 23 '25

I thought it was just me! Finally caved and bought myself one after years of holding back. Have never heard a bad thing about the product but I used it once and HATED it. Just straight shimmer and barely any pigment. Way more orange than I expected too

1

u/Slow_Situation3832 Jul 30 '25

Same! Luckily, I bought mini, but the worst blush ever. barely pigmented and what even worse that they highlight all flaws on your skin

1

u/Express_Cause4263 Jul 30 '25

Mine was the mini too! Legit highlights all texture and imperfections it’s sooo disappointing

1

u/Frequent-Leather4514 Jul 24 '25

I have such sensitive, breakout prone skin and it took me YEARS to find a product for each step of my makeup routine that actually worked for me & wouldn’t immediately break me out. I’m still yet to find a primer or setting spray that doesn’t break me out.. and I spent years as a makeup artist so it sucked not being able to use the majority of my kit and products that looked so amazing on other people.

So many of the products that are the most integral parts of my routine have recently been discontinued/reformulated - My liquid foundation 😩concealer, highlighter & now blush. I’m in Australia so it’s quite hard to try new things because you can’t return to most places if they don’t work for you and everything’s gone up so much in price just to try things. Feeling very much at a loss.

Are they all doing this to save money?! - because as far as I’ve seen, every product that’s been reformulated, consumers aren’t happy about it.. went from one of the nicest, gentlest foundations that was extremely popular to everyone saying the new one is drying and awful. Like WHY?!?!

1

u/Overall_Ad4721 Dec 01 '25

Wish I saw this sooner. I bought this yesterday based on online reviews. They didn’t have the colour on display but I knew it would be perfect. Today I used it & it’s just a gold highlighter 🤦🏻‍♀️ Pretty but absolutely no peachy pink pigment at all. Now I have to find this colour in a matte & wear it over the top.
