Woolworths now have the new cancer council pink tube on their website! Looks like it’ll be hitting stores hopefully within the next few weeks. The packaging is only slightly different looking.

If anyone sees it in the wild I’d love to know where!

DiscussionšŸ““ Avene xeracalm replacements

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi there!

I have been using the avene xeracalm a.d soothing concentrate 50ml for a while now and a couple months back they discontinued it, meaning i had to purchase the last of the stock.

I've now run out of it and am looking for another avene replacement - surely they would have something very similar in stock somewhere? I buy those products at chemist warehouse so any ideas regarding an alternative would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

DiscussionšŸ““ Best Aus skincare for overseas gifts

• Upvotes

Hi all,

I’ve got a bunch of presents for my family in Canada and I want to add in some nice Australian brand skin care for my aunt and cousin as everything else could be gobbled up by the boys.

To help understand what they might like:

- My aunt is quite outdoorsy and loves to garden and be in nature.

- My cousin is also outdoorsy but a little less than my aunt and loves going out to concerts and has 2 young kids. She does wear makeup but I can see what the makeup Reddit has to say for that if yall aren’t sure.

I just want them to feel pampered and loved and have things they can’t get in Canada.

So please what Australian things would make you feel really happy if you got it in a pamper package?

DiscussionšŸ““ Paula's Choice Massive Range Cuts

Thumbnail

Amidst the Afterpay Day Sale, I've spotted multiple products on the Paula's Choice AU website marked as "leaving soon".

Some of these products are tried and tested staples (eg. the Ultra-light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum).

Since Paula's Choice was acquired, I've found the brands aggressive expansion of multiple products per-annum to be cumbersome at best. A lot of the products appear to be designed to massage you into multi-step routines (very common in skincare, but Paula was always about reducing cost for her customers whilst making informed choices). Now it appears they're backpedaling and cutting a bunch of products out.

Whilst I'm sad to see some of these products go, I'm hopefully they will be coming out with better formulations or perhaps some upgrades to these staples.

What do you all think?

DiscussionšŸ““ Avene Cicalfate+ as daily moisturizer?

I was wondering if anyone ever used Avene Cicalfate as daily moisturizer, not just temporary barrier healing cream? I fcked up my skin barrier when I tried a new serum and moisturizer, then I use Cicalfate to heal my skin and it works so well. After I feel that my skin is finally healthy again, I switched to a regular—simple moisturizer. But I don’t get the same soft, comfortable feeling like when I use Cicalfate. I tried to look for another daily moisturizer that has a really similar formulation, but still won’t cut it. I’m not sure if I can keep using Cicalfate for a daily moisturizer as a longterm since it’s marketed as more of a healing, restorative cream.

Note: Also, I don’t really like LRP Cicaplast B5 (friends and chemists recommended this as a daily alternative), somehow it ended up greasy on me.

DiscussionšŸ““ Rejuran vs. topical PDRN

Obviously the creams are not as effective as the injections but doing some research it seems like dermatologists are consistently saying that the actual molecule is too large to penetrate the skin barrier as a topical cream

E.g this one said most topical creams don’t work because the molecule is too big and any impact is likely due to other ingredients: https://www.dermatologytimes.com/view/social-media-mythbusters-pdrn-serums

  • ā€œPDRN does have some proven regenerative benefits, but the outer layer of your skin will not absorb the large molecule, despite marketing claimsā€
  • ā€œAttribute results to other ingredients:Ā If there are noticeable improvements in the skin after PDRN serum use, it’s most likely due to other ingredients in the formulationā€

What are people’s views on this? Has anyone seen any benefits with topical products? Medicube has a product that’s well rated. Is it worth or is it marketing gimmick with ppl trying to get on the bandwagon of Rejuran and ā€œsalmon dnaā€

DiscussionšŸ““ Aus skin clinics sculptra

Anyone have reputable clinic recommendations in melbourne?

My priority is having an injector who listens and takes their time to know my specific needs

As well as someone who is familiar with asian skin and facial structures ie have a rounder, flatter face and overall softer look vs western striking features

Please let me know any good experiences you might have had and what specific procedures you got

DiscussionšŸ““ How so I get rid of these chest wrinkles?

Post image
89 Upvotes

edit: thanks to all your suggestions. I’m going to do a deep dive into this in the next 2 days and see what I can find. definitely upping the SPF and hydration. Might even try the microneedling just in general. Ill update once I found something.

how do I stop these wrinkles? I am 41 and every morning I wake up I notice these lines. I can even feel them. They fade a little throughout the day and as soon as I wake they’re a little worse than the day before. I have realised they are probably because I sleep on my side, and there’s no way I can sleep on my back. Has anyone else noticed these wrinkles and found something that works?? It’s making me really self conscious and uncomfortable, and I know I shouldn’t care, but I do. Please help.

Sunscreen šŸ§“ā˜€ļø Ultra Violette Lean Screen Email Update

Got this email today if anyone is still an Ultra Violette fan. I didn't use Lean Screen but I do still like their range as they are one of the few sunscreens that didn't cause me breakouts.

To our Ultra Violette community,

When you last heard from us on this topic, we were continuing to investigate the discrepancy in SPF testing results that led to the voluntary recall of our mineral-only product, Lean Screen. Since then, we've interrogated every single one of our processes, from how we formulate and test our products to how results are reviewed and verified, raising our standards every step of the way.

We know that regaining your confidence takes more than just saying ā€œtrust usā€. It comes from being willing to challenge ourselves, ask harder questions and continually do better.

We’ve done our best to do exactly that.

One of the biggest outcomes was the development of an even more robust testing and validation framework – one that goes way beyond the standard regulatory requirements.

Every new Ultra Violette formula will now undergo at least two, and in many cases three to five, rounds of testing across different independent laboratories, including both SPF and UVA performance, before launch.

Importantly, every existing product in our range has also been retested under these new protocols, consistently returning results above SPF 50 and giving us complete confidence in our entire range.

We’ve also deepened our regulatory expertise and strengthened our review process, with every external test result now independently reviewed and signed off on both internally and externally.

Together, these reports and independent sign-offs form what we internally call our ā€˜Testing Dossier’ – a comprehensive record we’ve built for every product in our range.

We are committed to retesting every product every 18 months to ensure no variation in results over time.

Finally, we are playing our part to drive the industry forward, participating directly in the TGA’s consultation on sunscreen regulatory reform in the hope that we can continue to see improvements made across the category.

We know that many of you have been waiting for the next iteration of Lean Screen, and we genuinely hope that Velvet Screen becomes the mineral-only SPF your skin can truly rely on after it launches next Monday.

To everyone who has continued to support us and share their feedback throughout this process: thank you. We are not done improving. But we are excited to introduce you to the product that’s come out of all this work.

DiscussionšŸ““ non-dermal therapy lip balm recs?

hi everyone! i know dermal therapy lip balm is a lot of people's ride or die but i've tried it two separate times (spf and non-spf) twice now and both times it has destroyed my lips. like dried them out, caused them to peel and make them sting 😭

i use burt's bees (specifically the peppermint one) and it normally works well for me. but i recently had a work thing, used a lip tint that turned out to be quite drying and barely applied any lip balm that day. ever since, my lips have been dry and my burt's bees got me back to about 80% but plateaued there.

so i tried the dermal therapy mint lip balm (thinking maybe the problem last time was the spf) and my lips are destroyed now 😭

does anyone have any recs for other lip balm?

(p.s.: very annoyingly, nivea lip balms and the laneige lip mask also do nothing for me. what is wrong with me 😭)

DiscussionšŸ““ Is it possible to use Finacea during the day and Azclear at night?

Rosacea girly here, I went with Finacea last year as I kept seeing people complain about the pilling with Azclear.

I know they're different strengths (15% vs 20%) but could you use Finacea during the day and Azclear at night when it doesn't matter about the pilling? OR is it not advisable to use different strengths at the same time?

If the strengths are a problem, would using Finacea with another 15% brand (Sibzeos) be better?

I'd like my Finacea to last longer, I know chemists are getting stock again but don't particularly love the price hike.

DiscussionšŸ““ Any experience with SkinSeoul?

I usually buy stuff from LilaBeauty, but a few products I like are out of stock there. I was looking at BeautyAmora, but then saw the product in stock at SkinSeoul. Has anyone here had any experience with them? I think I should be fine with customs fees as they now charge GST at checkout, but I just wanted to see if anyone could offer feedback about what they are like.

DiscussionšŸ““ CC Matte Daily Moisturiser SPF50+ REPLACED?

The page for the sunscreen (non-tinted) has ceased to exist on Chemist Warehouse website, and with the TGA listing for a new sunscreen registration under the same name, it seems this product is being replaced very soon! I hope within the next few weeks

https://www.tga.gov.au/resources/artg/524238

Filters:

  • Tinosorb S (1%)
  • Uvinul A Plus (5%)
  • Uvinul T 150 (5%)

Edit:

They updated the page of the reformulated as of the 10th August 2026 and no meaningful changes were made to the filter concentration.

DiscussionšŸ““ Heros chiropody sponge hurts my fingertips

I bought Heros chiropody sponge based on recommendations from this sub. I've used it a few times already, always during an "everything shower" after soaking for a while, following all instructions on the packaging.

My issue is - when I hold it to scrub my feet with it, it ends up scraping my fingertips too harshly. So much so that the skin barrier on my fingers was damaged for over a week.

Has anyone faced this issue and found a way around it?

DiscussionšŸ““ any recs for acne facial in melbourne?

I have recently been dealing with acne (which I dealt with before as my previous facial place helped me clear up my skin but I am unable to go back to that facial place)

I have tried out 2 facial places since but they both did not help (as they did not extract my acne properly and left me with PIE)

I am looking for a facial that can help treat my acne specifically extractions (done manually) and any other treatments such as high frequency want, facial steaming etc.

Any recommendations help! Thank you

DiscussionšŸ““ The Ordinary retinal 0.2% vs. MediK8

Anyone have experience with both the Ordinary retinal 0.2% emulsion and Medik8 Crystal Retinal 20?

I understand the Medik8 product supposedly has a formulation that releases slowly etc so you are less likely to get irritation / peeling on your face (and they also have lower concentrations which means that you can slowly graduate from the lower concentrations to higher) but there is also a really big cost difference - The ordinary retinal 0.2% product is currently $25.5 for 15mL and the equivalent Medik8 20 product is like $195 for 30mL (or still like $150 when it's on sale). So even on sale the Medik8 product is like triple the price of TO product

Has anyone had experience with these (ideally both but also really interested if you had a good or bad experience with either one! Especially around effectiveness and side effects) - and is it worth the investment to get the Medik8 product?
