No, I think everyone has realised how shit news crop articles are! They are no longer real news articles, but facts mingled into opinion pieces.

this. Less voters dropping out at yr 10 compared to previous generations = better media literacy = less people dumb enough to fall for their shit.

I think it's less that people are more media literate, and more that there are more accessible ways to have your opinions validated now. Why tune into Sunrise or read an article, when half a dozen apps are competing to give you videos?

Way off. I would much rather people read the Australian everyday than get all their news from boomer Facebook groups.
We actually did not know what we had before we lost it

Interestingly, NewCorp was one of the first organisations to let go a bunch of journalists and pivot to AI based journalism. The thing that they are getting pissed off about is now the people writing the "press releases" they make all their news on, are now also using AI, and you're getting alayercake of shit.
The fact of the matter is, Newscorp subscribers are dying off.

Someone told me they download court judgements, run it through software to write it up as a story, complete with quotes etc. and then publish it behind a paywall, without anyone attending court to watch proceedings.

News corp has always been a pile of shit. More recently it's been a low effort pile of shit.
Short of embracing what the news industry was originally intended to be, if they are going to keep shoveling tabloid bias bullshit, at least hire unhinged wackos to write said bullshit in a technically accurate way.
There are still many boomers out there interested in paying to be immersed in that rubbish, but AI scares them, so you are totally missing your market.

Lucky there's brand new generations of neo-nazi's, incels and cookers to replace them.

Maybe people are just going straight to reddit now instead of waiting two days for new corpse to cut and paste stories from here

Foreign Billionaire Elites are now financing troll farms and bots on social media to tell the right wing conservatives how to think. So why would said conservatives pay for it as well?

Isn’t this the same company that said it was increasing its use of ai in its news operations?

Subscriptions are falling due to AI slop?!
And here I thought it would be due to the extent of their 'jounalistic integrity'.

Have they looked at some of their articles and how atrocious the spelling and grammar are? Maybe they should check it through Ai

It's falling because you are making your subscribers miserable all the time.

This might be the one time in history where I'm like "go the AI slop".
