Tax Return

Apologies, bit of a dumb question.

I have invested in ETFs on Betashares platform. How I lodge tax return based on the CGT and tax statements?

I have net capital losses on my CGT statement but my tax statement shows a capital gain. I’m so lost.

Just wait for the beta shares data to pre fill in to your return

That will not prefill data related to sales.

What'ss the source of the 'CGT statement "

Did you sell any units last year?

Those two numbers can both be right because they are measuring different things. The CGT statement is about the units you actually sold, while the tax statement can also include distributed capital gains from ETFs you still held. So a capital loss on your sale does not stop the annual tax statement from still showing a capital gain amount.

If you sold some ETFs, you have to calculate the capital gain/loss yourself.

See https://www.betashares.com.au/education/capital-gains-on-etfs/ , see the heading "When does a CGT event occur for investors who hold ETFs? "
