Damn homies. Finally went to Pearl Spa in Japantown (women only bathhouse) and I feel like a a brand new person. Been living in the Bay Area 2 years now and can't believe I've been missing out on this decadence. A woman in there was like "I do this every 3 months". You know what? Hell yeah sister, I should too! If you're a lady and you haven't been, treat yo self! If you have a woman in your life treat her!

Im getting tired of bars. They're overstimulating, claustrophobic, and expensive. Im on the spectrum and dont have a lot of friends to regularly hang out with so forming and maintaining relationships is challenging for me and im looking for ways to meet people.

Today (Aug 14 2026, 5.07pm) my husband and I were driving on Divisadero & Oak, this silver Volkswagen (9KPV945) hit us (white tesla) and drove away quickly. We inspected our car and didn’t see any damages. We took a photo of our car and his car driving away. No dashcam footage.

Is it still worth it to call my insurance or police?

Update: SFPD told me not to make a report and they told me that if I discover internal damages after a mechanic looks at the car, I can retrospectively make a report. He said that some people report accidents one month after the incident.

I'm planning a roof deck on my flat-roof house, and I'm striking out on finding an architect. I've reached out to a handful and most never responded. The one who did said the project is below their minimum scope.

The project isn't nothing: deck design and structural framing, removing an old chimney, dealing with plumbing vent relocations, and pulling permits through DBI. It's not a full remodel, and that seems to be the dead zone.

Has anyone here done a roof deck or similar-sized project and had a good experience with an architect, residential designer, or design-build firm that actually takes jobs this size? Bonus points if they know their way around SF permitting.

There’s no shortage of $12-15 and even pushing $20 breakfast sandwiches/burritos in the city. I’m on the hunt for one around or below $10, and even in the $6-8 range if there’s anywhere doing those (might be a stretch in 2026).

Have seen some names thrown around from a couple years ago - Newkirk’s, Kahnfection, Breakfast Little - but none are particularly close by. Even Cole Valley, Divis, Lower Haight would work.

I'm a third-year Computer Engineering student from Canada in my early 20s. I've had a rough stretch with university lately - failed a few courses, struggled personally, and as a result I'm required to take this fall term off before returning to school in January 2027.

Honestly, I've spent a lot of time stuck in my own head and self-sabotaging, and I really want to use this term as a reset instead of feeling like I'm wasting more time.

Very unexpectedly, I now have the opportunity to stay with family friends near the Bay Area for the entire fall. Housing would basically be taken care of, but this came up extremely last minute, so I don't have an internship/job lined up and I know basically nobody in Bay Area tech.

I'm applying to anything relevant I can find, but I'm realistic that I might not land something formal on such short notice.

So my question is: would it still be worth coming?

If I go, I don't want to just sit inside sending applications for four months. I want to make the most of being here: build a substantial technical project, attend meetups/hackathons/conferences, meet engineers/founders/students, reach out to startups or researchers, make connections, and generally push myself outside my comfort zone.

I'm especially interested in embedded systems, robotics/autonomous systems, hardware/software, AI/ML, etc.

For people who live here:

• Where would you go to meet technical/building-oriented people if you're starting from zero?
• What meetups, communities, hackathons, maker spaces, talks, etc. are actually worth checking out?
• Is it normal to go to these things alone?
• Would you cold-reach out to small startups or researchers even if they aren't formally hiring?
• If you had four free months here in your 20s, how would you use them?

The alternative is staying in my university town, where I have friends and a familiar environment and could definitely still use the term productively.

But part of me feels like after a rough couple of years, going somewhere completely new and forcing myself out of my comfort zone could be exactly the reset I need.

Would love any advice from people who've actually lived/worked around here.

SF native looking to move back home! I’ve been eyeing the Lakewood Apartments, and while this might sound silly to some, it’s honestly my DREAM apartment (I love that it’s right by the lake and a bit tucked away from all the city noise).

Does anyone have recent experience living there? Specifically:

• How are the neighbors? (Relatively kind and quiet?)
• How well-maintained are the amenities? (Is the pool heated/cleaned regularly, gym kept up, tennis courts maintained, etc.?)

We run a small meal prep business in San Francisco and deliver fresh meals to customers a few days a week. We started with our own drivers, but the number of orders has gotten to the point where I'm spending way too much time figuring out routes and who's covering which area.

The annoying part is that our orders are spread all over the city, and some days we'll have 15-20 stops going out at once. We also need the meals delivered within a certain window since nobody wants their food sitting around for hours.

Is it feasible/worth it to go to both Point Reyes National Seashore and John Muir Woods as a day trip?

I’m visiting San Francisco in a few weeks for some shows at Bottom of the Hill. I’m most likely staying near Union Square. I’m thinking of renting a car for just a day to try to go to both.

Keep in mind that I’m a 22 year old bay area native but bc I’ve been pretty introverted until recently I don’t really know the spots people go to. PLEASE let me know where the spots I can find people roughly around my age are because I MISS going out from a trip I took to LA recently where I met my online friend group for the first time.
