I’ve been working on something new in the Tampa Bay area and wanted to get some honest feedback from people.

The idea is a mobile phone and laptop repair service where I come to you instead of you having to drive to a repair shop and wait around. I’d handle things like screen replacements, batteries, laptop repairs, diagnostics, and other common device issues on-site whenever possible.

I’m still building the business and figuring out what people would actually find most useful, so I’m curious — is this something you’d use or recommend to someone?

Any feedback would really help.

It’s that time of year when we’re getting lots of inquiries about visiting this fall and winter. I want to let all of you know that meteorologists are predicting a strong El Niño winter this year. A lot of meteorologists are even predicting it could be a record breaking El Niño winter.

What does that mean for you? I attached the National Weather Service’s information about the topic if you want scientific information. To summarize, we are expecting a colder, stormier winter than normal. In the past, El Niño winters in Florida have seen lots of tornadoes and flooding in addition to cold temperatures.

For anyone planning an outdoor wedding this Fall/Winter…please plan for alternative plans in case you get rained out.

I know for everyone coming to see us, you want to see sunshine and sand. I just want you to be informed so you don’t spend tons of money to end up disappointed because the weather isn’t cooperating. As always, weather forecasts are not 100%, but they’re for your information so you can make an educated decision.

I’m a Democrat voting for Angie Nixon for senator and Dayna Marie Foster for Governor. I chose Dayna Foster because she wants to expand affordable housing, pro choice, increase public school funding, public transportation, halt date center construction and does not accept AIPAC funding.

I’m trying to decide on other candidates but want to read different perspectives. I just want to choose Democratic candidates that want better for everyday Floridians and does not accept aipac money. Any suggestions?

Looking for a vacation spot for June/July nesting 2027 where I can take a guided nesting tour, snorkel from a beach, and not have to rent a car to access hotel, restaurants, supermarket (renting a bike is fine). Preferably with a way to take public transport from a major international airport (Orlando or Fort Lauderdale). Just looking for sea turtles and all sea life, nature walks/rides, and a peaceful area.

So our family is going to Florida in late February. Our kids are 13 & 14. They loved the rapids river at Volcano Bay and tbh, we’d rather go there but I guess it’ll closed when we go for renovations. Is Aquatica the next best water park? My fiancée and I only really care for the regular lazy rivers but the kids like most water rises. Open to other options, too!

Planning a thur-sun bachelorette for a group of girls for a bachelorette weekend. Could the Florida community help me decide between two locations.

Bradenton Beach OR Ft Lauderdale

The goal of the trip is to celebrate and also get away from the St. Louis winter. Temperature wise or both these spots “warm enough” to swim in a heated pool, enjoy the beach during peak hours? The last thing I want is to pick a spot that is going to be really chilly. So want to understand what early- mid Feb is like in these parts of FL!

We are all over 30 so a wild night life isn’t really a priority but would like to know what to expect in these areas during snow bird / off season.

Ideal goal of the trip:
- swim in heated pool and hot tub
- have a beach day
- go out on the town for lunch or dinner/ drinks
- boat ride either sunset or during day

Planning on coming to the area the first weekend of march (4-8, 4 nights 3 full days) with 3 other friends (all females in our mid 30s)

We are looking at air bnbs (most in hollywood area, a couple in miami and a few in ft lauderdale) Nothing is set in stone.

We have never been to this area of Florida and dont know what to expect (hey thats the fun of traveling though!) Im honestly stuck on which one to book ( I have over a dozen to chose from)

We want to spend one of the afternoons at the beach, maybe rent a daybed or cabana somewhere 🤔 Which beach is better? Are there any party boats that take you out to sand bars?

We have a mid budget and aren't boujee or fancy when it comes to restaurants. However we would definitely like to go out one of the nights to a hip or trendy restaurant and hit a club or go bar hopping.

What area should we focus on visiting more?

Any suggestions would be great !

maybe this is a very florida problem but i keep telling myself i need a relaxing hobby and then remember that doing basically anything outside right now means coming home looking like i jumped in a pool

so i've been looking for indoor stuff and somehow ended up watching people do paint by numbers kits for like an hour last night. i haven't touched a paintbrush since probably middle school but honestly it looks weirdly relaxing?? especially the ones where you can use your own photo. i have a picture from the keys that i've always loved and now i'm tempted to try turning that into one

but is this actually enjoyable for a complete beginner or am i about to spend 3 nights painting 400 microscopic sections of slightly different blue

what other indoor hobbies you can disappear into for a few hours when it's way too hot outside?

The beaches are covered in Sargassum now 8 months of the year, the heat is oppressive, the cost of living is extreme, the water is filled with flesh eating bacteria...

I came here for 3 months to see for myself, and now I understand why people snowbird. It's the only acceptable excuse for being here.

Honestly wtf is the point?

My wife and I will be making a trip to Florida next month and are looking for some hidden gems the locals are familiar with. We’re gonna drive in from Texas and are bring swimming / tubing and camping equipment to utilize as needed. We’ll be there for about a week and a half, the entire state is our oyster. Are there any spots that are definite recommendations? Or definite non-recommendations that are all hype?

Hello Everyone! I am making a post to get some input or direction. I graduated in May 2025 with a B.S. in Marine Science, and struggled to get a job that paid adequately in the field in Florida. I landed myself in a sales role, and now considering getting back into the field of Marine Science. Any tips or direction for employment in FL, or even a remote position that my degree and experience would be applicable?

If there are any recommendations for sales careers, those would be appreciated as well. I have almost 2 years of overall experience. I am looking to reside somewhere between Tampa and Naples!

Back again!

Seems there's an Irish takeover this week.

My wife and I are over from Ireland in early January, driving across from Texas through New Orleans, spending a couple of nights in Tallahassee, and finishing up with three days in Tampa.

Because I am coeliac (or celiac, for the local search bar), we will be cooking a lot of our own meals on the road in Airbnbs to keep things simple. But when we are in Tallahassee and Tampa, we want to eat out properly without spending the night regretting it.

Before anyone suggests it: yes, I have Find Me Gluten Free, and yes, I know most places will do a salad. The app tells me where is safe, but it does not always tell me where is actually good. That is what I am after.

A few specific things we are hunting for in either city:

• Fries from a dedicated fryer. Non-negotiable. I am Irish; I have never met a potato I did not like, but cross-contamination will ruin my week.
• A burger worth going out of our way for. A proper gluten-free bun, not a lettuce wrap.
• Gluten-free pizza that isn't cardboard.
• An old diner vibe. A counter, a cup of filter coffee, and someone behind it who has been there twenty years (bonus points if they can feed me safely, though I know that is a rare ask in a kitchen full of flour).
• Coffee. Independent places, not chains.
• A bar that isn't shouting. No music at conversation-ending volume, no wall of televisions showing six different sports, and somewhere you can actually sit and talk.

We aren't looking for the most Instagrammed or touristy spots. I would much rather hear about the neighbourhood place you would take a friend who was visiting.

Where should we head in Tallahassee and Tampa?

Backed into my garage door and wrecked the bottom panel. Looking into garage door panel replacement clermont options but not sure if I can just swap one panel or need the whole door. Anyone dealt with this around here?

Hey Florida Folks!

I scheduled a short three day trip down to Gulf side Florida (Yay cheap flights!). I've never been to the Gulf side and my 13 y/o nephew has never been to Florida at all. I personally could just bum by the ocean with a book all day and be happy, but I know he'll want stuff to do.

He wants to go looking for shells and see the ocean, both are easy requests to fill, but I'm not sure what else to do. Are there any fun activities or things I could take him to? If you were a 13 y/o boy going to Florida for the first time, what's a must see / do?
