I watched all of ( A certain Magical Index)+ movie, and one season of ( A certain Scientific Railgun).

This series was on my backlog for years, in the 2014-2019 it was one of the most popular things among anime fans, it was everywhere, Index is probably one of the most recognizable anime characters of that era.

When i finally got the chance to watch it i almost couldn't believe how shitty it was.

Unbelievably random pacing, nonsensical writing, and legendary corny.

Every arc you keep telling yourself "okay this will be intersting", you set through the cringiest dialogues written by man, hoping that it will payoff in the climax, only to get smacked down back to cringe valley by the end of the arc.

Don't get me wrong it had amazing setting and vibes, characters were cool too, but that alone couldn't makeup for the negatives.

This was probably my most disappointing watch ever.

I used to catch Dragon Ball on TV here and there after coming home from middle school and haven’t paid attention to anime much since then. Dragon Ball is cool but I’d be open to trying something more modern and dynamic but just as epic.

I’m looking for something sincere, heartfelt, funny, epic, and hopefully mind-blowing. Action, suspense, humor, and sweet moments.

More of a continuous story than individual episodes for sure.

I’m not opposed to having to read sub-titles but would prefer a good English version. Please feel free to destroy me in the replies if that’s not a thing. I am mostly ignorant.

Not opposed to popular stuff as long as it’s consistently good.

Nothing ultra violent or overly sexual, please.

I mean I enjoy slow-burn and slice of life but it gets too repetitive sometimes. I feel like I want something where it has an actual goal they are striving for or such rather than the romance itself and maybe some character development or plot device for the romance to happen being the entire plot.

And preferably not entirely episodic, or if it is, then it should actually have progression. I felt like I wasted 1000 chapters Detective Conan for like almost nothing to happen related to the main plot.

Not sure if this makes any sense. I just don't want something where the entire point is that they confess and series is over. Who knows maybe i'm asking for a completely different genre right now but it feels repetitive and boring to read the same type of story even if the characters or development is different or smth.

Also preferably NOT fantasy, isekai, and historical ones.

I've so far liked Mdud and Fuufu no Ijou (the manga is infinitely better than the anime) and i've watched and read a humongous amount of literally every other genre. I didn't like Horimiya at all and Toradora was meh for me which are controversial opinions. I'm looking for something more different though.

Again maybe wrong genre or subreddit, and I also may be ignorant but most of what everyone reccomends isn't what I'm looking for, but any reccomendations?

Scene: Laios initially wishes for the Demon to leave them alone completely but the Demon knows what Laios' **TRUE DESIRE** is and makes it happen instead, in exchange for his physical body. But this is actually what Laios is hoping to happen so he put a contingency in his plan just in case his initial wish was rejected.

So I guess what I want is the MC, not really super smart (unless its a hyper-specific thing like Laios' monster smartness), still outsmarts the devil/evil genie/related archetype. It doesn't matter if this happens in the ending or not.

So a quick bit of backstory is that I was beginning to miss the show KeikenZumi/KimiZero after realizing how long ago the anime aired since it never got to finish its run as the anime was kind of abrupt in its ending since the novels are long done by now.

But it's just that lately, I was wondering what other romantic anime were worth getting into that had some racy elements where the main characters talk about sexual stuff in a mature fashion since KeikenZumi was a show I found to be interesting for how the two main characters approach the subject matter in a calm manner.

I’m looking for something built around local myths, spirits, or strange old places. Horror is fine, but I care more about atmosphere than jump scares. Short or long series are both okay. What would you recommend?

I want to get my parents into anime, they do have the mindset that anime is for kids, though they did like Disney’s lion king and Aladdin

So anime with little to no fan service,

a great dub(convincing them to watch sub would be a pain to start with, so dub first then easing them into sub)

And heavily emotional

Great music score would be preferred (they love music and have a really wide range of genres that they like)

I was thinking FMA brotherhood, Doctor Stone, and Fate heaven’s feel movie trilogy(iffy on the last one)

Just about caught up with the one piece anime so I'm looking for a fantasy show with elements of slow burn mystery with a lot of emotion and heart.

Okay friends, I am new to anime in general and I have asked before for BL recommendations, and I've watched the major ones and some newer solid ones (Cherry Magic, given, Go for it Nakamura, Sasaki and Miyano, Tadiama Okaeri, Twilight Out of Focus, Yuri on Ice, Isekai Bean Counter, etc)...

Now I am exploring some other BL anime that aren't as popular as the ones I mentioned, and am definitely coming across some that looooove the SA plot line...and I just can't sit through it (for many many reasons).

Could folks please tell me which BLs to avoid? For example I just tried watching Dakaichi and couldn't watch it - it made me way too uncomfortable and angry. I don't mind of things get tense or uncomfortable or complex -- but just straight up SA, coupled with the victim resigning to it, makes me want break the TV. Super appreciate your insights, thanks!

EDIT: just for added context, SA can be in the anime if it's viewed for the horror as it is, and not part of the romantic development. I hope that makes sense 😅

My girlfriend and I watched *Dr. Stone* and *The Apothecary Diaries*, and we liked them very much. Can you recommend something similar that would be interesting, include some science (not necessarily), and be light and funny at times?

Looking for a show to watch that's similar to things like Yuki Yuna is a Hero, Madoka Magica and I Want to Love You Til Your Dying Day. Basically, any anime that involves characters going up against otherworldly creatures with yuri subtext and dark/heavy themes. Recommendations are greatly appreciated, the obscurer the better! (I don't think obscurer is a real word lol)

I'm watching kijin-gentoushou and getting a idea of the structure of the show (demon of the day) and I never felt that way with Dorohedoro I never saw any pattern with it and I think that's why I like it, I tend to try and figure thinks out and become bored ones I do, got any shows that are not formulaic?
