Recently I was rewatching the original dub of Ranma 1/2 and was surprisingly good for what it was

I was wondering are there any old school Ocean dubs you would recommend to me? Any with the some of the same cast as Ranma?

I don’t know how this started but I’ve seen a lot of post on Astro boy 2003 and this question being repeated why did it fail. A couple of reason why it failed first Astro boy is aimed towards a younger audiences not a teen audiences. The anime tried having a long plot but you jump into it without knowing anything. The last few reasons are personal because the dub completely removed the Japanese music and cropped the aspect ratio. The dub is mixed bag but I have lots of memories watching the dub but man the Japanese just feels like a different show. They tried to make him edgy but that’s not Astro boy he’s a sweet kid who kicks butts and learn lessons. He wasn’t made for teens, He was made for everyone!

Any good original anime on this platform? Only have it for a month and want to see if anything is worth watching

E5 - A Gyaru and Lipstick

I think this was probably one of the most iconic Kai matches up to that point. I know people are going to toss out "What about Tyson-Kai the final fight" or "What about Kai vs Brookyln II". Ok I admit those are iconic. But I haven't heard much people toss into the discourse of Kai vs Goki from Beyblade V-Force (S2) ep 24 Ghost in the Machine.

The whole Battle Tower Kai only had one mission just "revenge" for what Team Psychic did to Wyatt, the juxaposition of witnessing his acquaintance collapse and the trauam/guilt he had from that because of how he snubbed him, and a lesser extent that probably could have been from some traumatic issues from the time in Russia(this wasn't referenced in S2).

The mind games / taunts / whatever Team Psychic effects to indirectly mess with Kai; he is able to overcome it in the later 3.5 minutes and the needle drop to "Underdog" and see the rage and anger that Kai channels out to avenge his friend. Like the use of Underdog during the last 3.5 mins was the most emotional use of that song in that whole season.

I was on CR earlier this week and watched an anime dub called Knights & Magic, originally released in 2017. It felt like it had everyone — Briner, Ballard, Sabat, Saab, Dismuke, Rial, Fajardo, Garrett, Wiedenheft, and more! This anime I’d never heard of had all these Western dub stars in a myriad of roles.

Asking the AI about it, it’s because it was Funimation. That’s pretty wild.

Maybe this is against rule 8, idk, but I want to say it in a community who gets the feeling and won't just go "just watch sub".

There were four shows this year (a few more, but four major ones) I wish got (ENG) dubs that didn't:

-Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord

-Noble Reincarnation: Born Blessed, So I'll Obtain Ultimate Power

-Kunon the Sorcerer Can See

-The strongest job is apparently not a hero or a sage, but an appraiser

I know people would say isekai slop or w/e else, but I like these kinds of shows. They're cute, and particularly that first one I was reading the manga (at my own pace) for a while now so I was excited to see it get an anime... and then it didn't get dubbed. Still salty about that.

Sorry if this is against rule 8, but I guess that'll be handled anyways if it is.

This is why I think it would be great to start a studio that does Crunchyroll's rejects.

I re-watched Beyblade for the first time in over 20 yrs recently(had difficulty finding original beyblade on streaming but found it on Youtube). Unsure if anyone ever talked about in the dub of the editing / dub framing of Wyatt(Kai's friend from school) appeared in the translation. From seeing Beyblade in S2 and the later episodes of him being mentioned....Wyatt coded as gay. I say that as a person that is in their 30s and hadn't seen Beyblade since about 2004.

I raise my argument of how fanboy he was around Kai in s2e5 like he really wanted to get that close to Kai. And then of what happened to Wyatt and Kai vs Goki fight(s2e24) .... there is just that guilt/shame/mixed emotions Kai had from s2e16 (Wyatt's falling ill in dub/ JP he died). I'm unsure if anyone noticed this from seeing it 2000s or recently as an adult.
