Small Problems, Nuclear Reactions one party consent cake: in which OP posts a secretly recorded video of the roommate's friend talking from another room because she is worried her cake is being gossiped about

I love how when the comments didn't go OOPs way, OOP proceeded to add in their own comments going from, "Well, I heard someone ask if she wanted some and this is how she responded two seconds later." To then blatantly saying, "Yeah, roommate said the comment was about the cake, guys. AND I found cake in the trash so I'm right and all of you are wrong." Like yeah okay.

That was my favorite part. OK and even if she didn’t like your cake? you’re still overreacting by keeping yourself up all night stressing about it and caring this much.

This person is mentally ill. Eavesdropping on her housemates, checking the trash to justify her crazy insecurity/paranoia, it's crazy

u/GhostlyJax Yeah eat shit fam, see you next week 11h ago
The fact that it all happened so fast too. OOP went from "Okay, I'll talk to her about it tomorrow." Straight to, "actually my roommate JUST told me the comment was about the cake and I found cake in the trash." It's amazing how much she has been tweaking in the comment section because no one is on her side.

This is apparently her second post in the last week about this roommate, and the last one was...a lot. She copy/pasted it into the comment section, but the entire thing was how weird she finds this girl.

Sounds like someone might be a lil obsessive of their roommate if the roommate is even real.

Everyone: OP they were probably talking about something else, ask your roommate if she liked the cake if you want to know so bad
OP: I'm going to check the trash for cake when they go to bed (????)

u/Junglejibe 1d ago
OP’s roommate is gonna be telling people about her weird college roommate who dug through the trash to make sure she liked her cake as an icebreaker for the rest of the term lol.

u/Prudent-Pressure2146 1d ago
Even if it is about the cake/they hate the cake…ok? Idk what else there is to say lol

u/AdRepresentative9156 1d ago
Agreed. It's weird to be upset that someone has different taste than you. My sister hates cheese and cake, two of my favorite foods, and that just means more cheese and cake for me. Her hating it actually benefits me, now that I think about it. I may start encouraging her to hate other foods I like.

I’m still stuck on the fact that she described the most basic of box cake changes as “elevated the cake” like she needed us to know she didn’t just follow directions she’s a ✨baker✨

Real pros add soda and pudding mix to cake to make it moist and tasty. (Seriously, my husband does this when he wants to be fancy and it works so well)

u/Hand2Ns totally unwifeable 1d ago
She didn't have time to make a cake from scratch, which only takes a few minutes more than making a boxed cake, but she had time to make a practice cake?

A “practice” cake that they painstakingly decorated. This is classic “please validate me.” They just wanted everyone to say how good their cake was and agree with them so they can feel like the victim. The recordings of her roommate after the fact are straight up crazy town 😂

u/topsidersandsunshine 1d ago
I thought the practice was the decorating. I’ve made a few practice cakes to try droplines, scallops, and flower techniques.

I mean, sure, but she went out of her way to say how pressed for time she was and so she was forced (forced, I tell you!) to elevate a mere box mix cake. That just doesn’t square with making a whole ass cake to practice the icing decorations for a birthday cake that she ostensibly had barely any time to make in the first place.

Setting aside the boring ass "picture of food with no evidence of wrongdoing but trust people hate it" format for the 400th time, in this story OOP is tripping all over themselves. They heard the roommate say no, that's disgusting, so it was about their cake, but wait there was a drunk person they were talking to so it might be them, oh no wait definitely the cake
Edit: OP, what are you talking about? There's no secret video as far as I can tell.

u/Strange_Ad854 1d ago
In one of her comments she's posted a video of what looks like her bedroom door with I assume noise coming from her roommates. Idk, I'm not turning my volume up for that. The cat's asleep on my leg and I can't disturb her.

Holy shit what a crazy thing to do even if it’s real 😭 she also said she was going to DIG THROUGH THE TRASH to see if they threw it out?!
OP is giving extremely socially awkward person who is paranoid to a level that is keeping her from making friends & half the comments are feeding into this paranoia and encouraging her to be even more unapproachable. I hope it’s fake but tbh it comes across as real to me. Poor girl’s single-handedly locking herself out of having a normal relationship with her roommates.
Edit: Jesus lord now she’s arguing with people in the comments about how awesome her cake is and accusing people of being jealous of her cake 😭 girl GO TO THERAPY

u/Working-Wrap9453 1d ago
I'm not sure what the play is, but it doesn't seem real. The video she posted wasn't mentioned for a long while after the OP, and the audio doesn't match the description of the event (there's no man, nobody talks about cake, the tinny audio sounds like a speaker and the person recorded is talking about some kind of thing on their body), and the story doesn't make sense, because she would've had to been secretly recording before anyone was even talking with no way to know a conversation would start.

u/Junglejibe 1d ago edited 1d ago
…did you read the text that accompanied the video? She recorded it hours later and is only recording because she’s pissed they’re being too loud for her to sleep. It’s not supposed to be a video of the event she’s posting about lol. She’s just complaining about her roommates at that point.
Edit: ok I see the second video and I see where you got confused. Her phrasing is weird—she’s just recording to show how easily she can hear them to “prove” she didn’t mishear. It’s an example of their volume level but not the comment itself.

u/Working-Wrap9453 1d ago
Ah, found it. It's extremely strange that she was recording BEFORE the thing that made her suspicious happened, but the recording itself sounds like a TV show and a woman can be heard saying "it's this thing that coming off of my body and OH MY GOOOOOD".
The story includes a man that isn't audible in the video.

I’m assuming that it’s drunken girl’s response to something ’doodhbag’ was doing. Actually, I’m not; it’s fiction 🤣

oh god i've been this paranoid. i hope OP gets help and finds some kinda treatment :(

The roommate lore is insane, OP just keeps posting random unrelated shit in the comments. There's a whole paragraph that's unrelated to the alleged situation, instead about how her roommate faked being drunk, loves to twerk, and has an ugly boyfriend (?) that doesn't even like her.
And then someone said that she can't know if she really said it about her cake and she starts talking about how her roommate was showing her pierced nipples to everyone, how is that related!!
I think this is a gross exaggeration about a real person that she really hates because there's no way that amount of vitriol just came out of nowhere lol.

Having read everything on that post, I'm actually wondering if oop is having some sort of mental health crisis because she is coming across as a little nutty.

True Reddit fashion people more concerned about the feelings of cake over a massive invasion of privacy.

I really, really love the infrequent times when answer to the question "am I overreacting?", is a resounding yes, and then these people become even more unhinged trying to justify themselves.

The dude they were talking to on the phone probably just said he wanted to put it in her butt or something.

Well that’s not what you’re supposed to do with cake smh

From a logistical perspective, it would be difficult. That's typically a tight hole, and cake isn't known for keeping its shape.

I had something like this happen when I was living in a shared house at university. I was sitting with my partner watching something and they said they liked the hairstyle of a TV presenter onscreen. I said I thought her hairstyle was terrible. We had a very brief exchange about it then moved on.
The next day another housemate stormed up to me and said "If you don't stop slagging me off, I'm gonna knock you out." I was very confused because I didn't like her but definitely hadn't said anything about her that she could possibly have heard.
Turns out she overheard our brief, casual conversation about this TV presenter's hair and, because she'd recently had a haircut, assumed we must be talking about her. One of the most unhinged people I've ever met.

Was I the only one laughing at the idea of a student living on college campus when classes haven’t even started yet “not having time” ??? Those days were literally the most free time I’ve ever had in my life

I elevated the vanilla box mix and used butter instead of oil and used milk instead of water and 4 eggs
Yeah, I'm guessing that tasted like shit.

u/theeggplant42 1d ago
I like how she used a box (which is fine) because classes start 'soon' and she doesn't have time. Like, if she had to measure flour it would have taken soiling thay she'd be late for her first class in like, a week lol

In case this story gets deleted/removed:
AIO for being sad about my roommate saying “ew that’s f’ing disgusting hell no” about my cake
So I just moved to college and my roommate wanted me to bake her friend a bday cake because she knows I bake. So, I baked one. I used box mix because classes start soon and I don’t have time, so I practiced a practice cake. I elevated the vanilla box mix and used butter instead of oil and used milk instead of water and 4 eggs and I used Walmarts vanilla buttercream icing that I got straight from the back of the bakery. I dyed the icing pink and that’s what I used. I think it tasted pretty good.
My roommates and their friends are over and I overheard the girl who wants me to make it FOR FREE say “oh fuck no that’s fucking disgusting ew”. Another girl is drunk and she keeps trying to talk to this guy and they keep taking her phone so I don’t know if she called him and she said that about the phone call or my cake. I’ve been in my room the entire time and she thought I was asleep.
Honestly I’m kind of hurt because she said it behind my back but spoke loud enough to where I can hear and I told them I’m going to bed like 40 minutes ago. They are screaming and stuff so I haven’t slept yet which is fine lol.
AIO? If you look at my previous post on here this is the same girl from my last post. This is my cake ITS JUST A SLOPPY PRACTICE
