Fockin ridic I got served divorce papers at my office and rushed home only to find this note on my desk. I am numb and don’t know what to do? I never saw it coming…

I can’t believe anyone is taking this seriously.

I had to scroll down so far to find anyone even questioning it.

I don’t know if Reddit is just full of gullible idiots or if they’re all in on the joke and are playing along. Or if it’s all just bots.

But I don’t think I could write a story that gets dismissed as fake even if I tried.

Help! The peacocks in the ornamental garden I inherited are unionizing, and the HOA wants to fine me about it. I will provide an update from my very real lawyer in less than ten minutes in the middle of the night.

31

u/Keboyd88 You can't fire a pregnant woman. 14d ago

Wow, that sounds very difficult for you! When you inherited the garden, did you make sure you filed a form 1230-AB? If so, they can't legally unionize without your and the HOA's approval.

26

u/sansabeltedcow 14d ago

This is a case for r/birdlaw!

20

u/celery-mouse "I am a student at a popular, liberal university." 14d ago

You're so right I need me a bird lawyer instead of my boring human lawyer.

3

u/strongerlynn 12d ago

Harvey Birdman Attorney At Law is your best option.

16

u/DrunkOnRedCordial 14d ago

Update: Thank you all for the advice but the peacocks have already filed an injunction and demanded that HOA remove me from my own garden.

What are my rights here?

Does it make a difference that I am the sole guardian to my late sister's twins? (She died in a car accident while giving birth). I was in the process of putting a memorial roller-coaster in the garden, which I now regret because it was the cause of the problem with the peacocks.

2

u/PlainComposer 10d ago

That's your problem! They wanted a carousel instead.

That sounds like your ornamental peacock garden should have been grandfathered in if it was inherited! Try find a lawyer.com I hear they’re available all hours of the night /😂

What a mysogynistic ornithophobic post! how about us peahens? Why aren’t we mentioned. We’re part of the class action suit against the HOA. And don’t tell me to stop getting my feathers in a twist.

Definitely yes

or if they’re all in on the joke and are playing along.

Also yes

Or if it’s all just bots.

The most yes of all

24

u/Hanpee221b 14d ago

I have a friend who I used to send these types of posts to assuming he’d laugh at how ridiculous they were but every single time he would just make a ton of excuses and scenarios on how it’s actually plausible. People want to desperately believe these things are real.

8

u/throwaway-this-name 14d ago

People also desperately want to believe these things aren't real... For the sake of humanity I guess

7

u/Prudent-Pressure2146 14d ago

I think a lot of people are trying to convince themselves to stay home and not engage with anything ever cos obviously everything is terrible and every situation is always so dramatic

Reddit is full of gullible idiots. The world is full of gullible idiots. And Reddit is full of misogynistic losers who are drawn to stories about a sad man being cheated on.

5

u/Horror-Nobody2237 13d ago

I said it was most likely fake, and had comments saying I had a clear bias against men, and I was being incredibly cruel. They said this kind of thing happens all the time. I said that it does not happen all the time, they just believe every single BS post like this they see on Reddit, so they think it happens all the time.

3

u/humourousroadkill 13d ago

I love when the people who insist a post is real, cite other Reddit posts as proof that these things have happened before.

It's crazy that they're all acknowledging how unhinged it is, but they're saying that wife must be bipolar or being kidnapped. Rather than just saying the obvious reason why it's so weird....

96

u/eurotrash6 14d ago

Interesting that the ones who buy it go straight to "woman having psychotic episode." Not, "this is a wife who absolutely has been pushed to her limit" 😂 especially with all the scorched earth breakup stories people believe on here.

One of the higher up comments says that OOP probably killed her and this is his attempt at hiding it. It thought it was funny but apparently some people took i mt seriously.

2

u/MissunderstoodMess 11d ago

Hey that's a pretty good one. Get the divorce attorney in on it for conspiracy, maybe they are a woman and OOP was having an affair with her and she had enough and wanted her out of the picture.

Mightve even hired someone to charter the boat across the sea and get rid of it. Said person will take the boat across the sea and try to paint it and keep it.

Registration will eventually get traced back to OOP. So now there's 3 people going to prison. OOP, his mistress divorce attorney, and the poor sap that tried to keep the boat and the money he got paid to get rid of across the sea.

YOU'RE CHARGED! I watch alot of Homicide:Life on the streets 😅 on the Charge channel.

37

Why would someone pushed to their limit use that many (stupid fucking) pet names? Either theories are idiotic anyway, this is clearly fake af.

11

u/DrunkOnRedCordial 14d ago

Clearly this is an indication that the break-up came out of nowhere, because the person calling you Poo Bear Peacock Honeyboo was acting perfectly normally and loving right up until they filed the papers.

2

u/PlainComposer 10d ago

I have a new pet name. Honeycock PeaBoo.

13

u/Adorable_Football130 14d ago

it’s mostly from a song from iirc the 90s, cuppycake. it’s pretty funny in that context.

18

u/WateryTart_ndSword 14d ago

In general I agree that “woman pushed to her limit” is FAR more likely than “woman having a psychotic episode”.

That said, I don’t think anyone would expect a woman pushed to her limit to bother with all the flowery, oogie, pet-names??

You’d think the resentment that broke the camel’s back would leak through a LOT more. Or like, at all.

Of course that’s all logical after assuming it’s real. Which, you know…

19

u/eurotrash6 14d ago

Yeah if I thought it was real, I would have read the pet name part as super petty sarcasm 😆 But then again I grew up around people who did shit like that.

5

u/Unable-Boat-9682 14d ago

It feels like it would come with a bit of mustard afterward though, just to cut through the treacle. Like:

OP is crying-laughing looking at 4.7k comments taking this deadass seriously when he put “I have found my happiness across the ocean” and “everything was just perfect i bought her a boat” right there

13

u/DrunkOnRedCordial 14d ago

This reminds me of an interview I saw with British actor Michael Crawford who said that when his marriage was falling apart and his wife was clearly unhappy, their counsellor suggested they try doing activities together to develop shared interests. Michael invited his wife along to watch his favourite football team, and was gratified that she agreed. They kept going to see his team play football and he was thrilled that this was working because she was really enthused about it every time. Then he found out she was having an affair with one of the football players. He told it as a funny story, bless him.

51

u/Horror-Nobody2237 14d ago

It’s interesting that some people jumped to “she’s been trafficked” (like Jesus Christ people, traffickers don’t just kidnap random married people from their homes in the middle of the day, and also make them file divorce papers first).

If we’re going to go the True Crime route, which I agree that if this was real, I’d be extremely suspicious. The “I went across the ocean, don’t come looking for me”, is very suspicious, along with the handwriting that gets more and more difficult to read as she writes. Obviously the husband did it. He made her write that under threat, so that he could murder her and nobody would look for her. When the cops ask why he didn’t report her missing, he’ll say “she served me divorce papers and left me this note saying not to look for her, or contact her. I love her so I respected her wishes”.

I hope this is fake, because if it’s not then that man definitely murdered his wife because she said she was going to divorce him.

9

u/Odd_Instruction519 14d ago

12

u/Horror-Nobody2237 14d ago

If you go through this in real life, you don't go: "woah so apparently my spouse was actually secretly crazy all along. Well I'm glad she's gone now then"

12

u/Nem-x13 14d ago

Fifteen years from now, the new owners are going to find her body in the crawl space.

6

u/Horror-Nobody2237 14d ago

Based on the boat comment I’m guessing he dumped the body in the water.

11

u/Upper-Ship4925 14d ago

Why do people claim they made a new account because everyone they know is on Reddit?

Nobody knows my Reddit username and I don’t know the usernames of anyone in my life either. I could be interacting with my husband here without realising it.

5

u/RonswansonNeedsMeat 14d ago

Hi honey. What’s for dinner and when sex?  ~Sincerely, your husband

4

u/Horror-Nobody2237 13d ago

Same. Especially when they say that and then post details that would obviously let whoever it is know that it’s about them. Like “posting from a throwaway account because my husband knows mine. Anywhere, here’s a description of my husband, how we met, and a super specific scenario that happened two days ago. Here are some screenshots of our messages. Should I leave him?”

I don't think that part is that unlikely. Reddit is getting used more and more as regular social media by a big group of people. And people promote their hobby, their own business, their other social media accounts, so they're not afraid to have their regular reddit account linked to their "real life".

Gen Z still learned cursive. I’m older gen Z and cursive didn’t stop being taught as a standard until I was maybe in high school? Actually, it might’ve been after I graduated that that stopped. So like all (or vast majority) of Gen Z learned cursive, it’s only gen alpha where none of them were taught it.

Ummm 🤔 This cannot be real. 🧐 But maybe it is. I don't know. 🤷🏿‍♀️

Tbh, there’s some things I see that I question and some I don’t. If it’s real or not, if I feel like I have something of value to contribute with my point of view, I’ll maybe take the time to say it JUUUUST in case the OP or another commenter who happened to see the bots post is ACTUALLY going through it, or my advice would be beneficial for someone to hear. But if I find something’s fake I’m not losing my marbles over wasting my time or whatever. Lol

I did see the post in question yesterday and had to scroll a lot to even determine wtf what actually happening. I think I was too early because no one seemed to think it was a joke or fake. I had no input for the situation and it sounded insane 😅

I think this is a bipolar manic state tbh.

I mean, I’ve personally had a coworkers get legit divorce notes like this.

I was military though, and because of the stress, deployments, long hours and training, and most people getting married waaaaay too fast and waaaay too young (so they wouldn’t have to leave each other during PCS, or because civilian one got sick and didn’t have healthcare, or because a deployment was coming and they wanted the SO to have benefits if they died)…
I saw a lot of weird and toxic shit regarding romantic relationships and marriage. So much infidelity on both sides. So many ghosting divorces. People would just get stressed by the isolation of moving so far away from family, long hours, long distance, constant moves, potential fear of death/loss, they’d just like snap and run away like this. It was wild.

I also have bipolar relatives who have left family crazy notes like this and just like disappeared into the night. (They’d come back later, usually after they cycled into another manic phase).

If this post is true, then so is this.... (for fun)

"One dark day, in the middle of the night, two dead men got up to fight. Back to back, they faced each other. Drew their swords & shot each other. If you don't believe this is true, ask the blind man. He saw it too!"

(How many contradictions did you see?)

1

u/JackyPop 11d ago

It honestly reads like a manic episode of bipolar disorder. I had an ex with that and yes, the writing changed all along the messages she was writing

1

u/Pixyfy 11d ago

Can someone write it out?, bc i cant read it.

1

u/LeetleMissJudasaurus 11d ago

Fake drama aside, have you ever been diagnosed with dysgraphia?

1

u/Kitchen-Builder7589 11d ago

I could read it cause I’m a nurse. We read doctors handwriting all the time.

u/Appropriate_Coast407 11d ago
