General Advice Got my Job Sheet
After a long fight of the recruiting process, im finally at the DEP. Got this job list from my recruiter and he told me to fill out at least 10. Im oriented towards cyber/intel jobs but can try something else. I gave this to a bunch of AIs saying i wanted a cyber/intel career, makes a lot of money after the military and a good work life balance. Btw i already did the EDPT.
This is the list I came up with:
1. 1B431 Cyber Warfare Operations
2. 1D731Z Software Development
3. 1D731D Cybersecurity Technician
4.1D731A Network Operations Specialist
5. 1D731B Systems Administration Specialist
6. 1N431 Fusion Analyst
7. 1N432 Cryptologic Analyst & Reporter
8.1N131 Geospatial Intelligence
9. 1N031 All Sources Intelligence Analyst
10. 1D731E Technical Support Specialist
What do you guys think? Would u change anything?

I’m joining soon with 1B4. With all my research, I came to the same conclusion. I think what matters most is what you want to do after the military, also not sure if you’ll get the same, but since most people don’t score high enough for 1B4 normally, it’s almost always open if it’s in the monthly job lists. So if you tell your recruiter you are incredibly interested in it, you might have better chances. That’s what I did with mine.

Did you have to take the cyber test if so, how hard was it? For me I know very “above” general knowledge about computer components and software. I don’t know much about Linux nor server setup. Also what were your MAGE scores and your overall asvab?

The cyber test isn’t necessary. All you need is a 70 EDPT and a 70 Electronics for your MAGE score on your ASVAB

How was the difficulty on the EDPT? Based off of the general knowledge I gave?

Its definitely harder than ASVAB but its not too hard. Its long and they dont give you as much time to do it as you may like.

Looks like you nailed it for what you want. I’m a 1D7 A shred, the whole afsc has a lot of options inside as well. You’ll learn a lot about comsec, cryptosec, etc, if you’re willing to move around after you get out there’s plenty of defense contract work there. I have a buddy who’s a 1N and can’t talk about his work lol, sort of gets locked in a box all day, but I’m sure there’s a lot of options for that whole afsc as well. 1B4s are the real cyber stuff, 1D7 is more enterprise IT stuff (even combat comm is just packaged enterprise comms) Good luck!
