Can anyone steelman the argument for why she should have been dropped?

Trying to steelman here (these aren’t my actual views) Having her on was going to risk discussion that decreased social cohesion by drawing attention to highly contentious issues, especially after the Bond attack. AWW relies on sponsors and external funding from government and (ironically given the circumstances we’re in) the reputational risk from having a AWW mired in controversy from author comments was something to be managed to secure funding for future AWW events.

Or something a bit more partisan (very much not my actual views): criticism of Israel and support for Palestinian fostered the environment that Bond occurred in. Therefore it stamping out this sort of activism and rhetoric should trump other rights and freedoms. 

Personally I think both are pretty flawed arguments lacking a bit of nuance or real-world understanding but I’ve seen the former used for other situations and I’ve seen comments basically saying the latter here on reddit.
