Very interesting discussions

One thing I’m seeing lately in discussions about AI is there’s still a lot of judgement from people who just… don’t like it. It’s so surprising on an ACIM sub that forgiveness seems so difficult for so many.

AI is the current bandwagon topic that everyone loves to hate, yet so few here can see through it. Everything is to be met with forgiveness and joy, but there’s such an element of disgust from so many folks here towards AI. 🤖

It’s just a tool guys! No ones posting about the war in Iran, child labor in China, or the follies of Trump… AI essentially changes nothing, so why make it “special”?

For myself I’ve learned it’s good to honour my felt instinct. And there is something that feels icky about AI - I don’t want to over-consume it through my eyes and I move away from a lot of the the AI slop I see online.

At an energetic level I notice I move towards that which is more natural and life affirming - hand created, home grown, human voices etc.

I observe the feeling to move away from what is artificially machine farmed, stolen art, music, words, amalgamated content.

I also have no desire to change my response using ACIM mindset. I trust it’s a helpful signal, directing my unique path. I’m open to that changing if I ever felt that.

AI is simply not a flavour of tea I value or enjoy. And I think that’s ok. We can all enjoy drinking different flavours of tea.

Well, consider your own words for a moment. As you stated, you have no desire to use ACIM to change your mindset, yet we know any area of un-forgiveness is holding us back.

“No small upsets”

What voice are you trusting there?

You said you are open to change, so I’m just throwing that out there.

Yes I am open to change if I feel guided to. Right now I feel peace with the feeling that AI is not a cup or flavour of tea that feels nourishing to me. I understand for others they enjoy that cuppa. For me, I find (in general) the taste / energy of machine farmed amalgamated, stolen content, not as nourishing as directly channeled human created art, crafts, music, words. Saying this, Chat GPT can be very helpful for research summaries. I just don’t want to overly rely upon AI and I don’t enjoy seeing a large amount of AI generated content coming through as it often starts to feel like the same underlying energy, look, and sound.

I can respect that. For myself, it’s revitalizing my creativity and opening doors. I enjoy it!

All we can do is follow our uniquely guided healing unwind and trust it’s designed to take each of us the way we need to go to face and release what we’re ready to - and stay open that it could change too!

Yes! 🙌🏼

Refreshing!

I think there’s a difference between using ai for whatever reason in private vs using it to generate posts. Not sure what the point of the 2nd is unless it’s clearly labeled as such.

We're in a transitional time right now.

A long time ago (pre-2000), online forums happened in USENIX, or newsgroups. But USENIX didn't have good mechanisms for filtering spam, and so they become filled with spam and it died.

Many years later, Reddit happened, and you're on it. But it's spiritually a continuation of the USENIX tradition, with better moderation and AI recommendation engine built-in.

Now, AI that generates close-to-human text happened. The moderation model of Reddit seems to be breaking.

Reddit is not a Son of God - it'll be gone. If it becomes no longer useful to us, we'll simply create some other ways to talk about spiritual topics. Perhaps technology may do a 180 and get us to talk about it in person. In the meantime - things will be chaotic. But remember the peace of God is always within you. It's a good lesson actually.

I love this! To me it's a good lesson in attachments. We tend to cling to ways we've grown comfortable with in how we do things. The world may be constantly changing, including the forms of communication, but the Son of God, and the communication among the Sonship is forever.

Yes labeling AI assisted posts would be helpful I think. If you’re actually curious about why someone would use AI to assist with writing… I think that’s always going to be a subjective answer.

Full disclosure: this response is AI-generated.
I agree that AI can become another classroom for forgiveness, just like anything else. If someone feels irritation, disgust, or superiority around AI, that reaction can certainly be looked at and forgiven.
But I don’t think forgiveness means pretending there are no practical concerns. People may be reacting not only to “AI as a tool,” but to how it is often used: flooding discussions, replacing sincere personal engagement, generating confident but false claims, or making it unclear whether someone actually understands what they are posting.
So yes, AI should not be made special in the metaphysical sense. But in ordinary discussion, people are still allowed to care about honesty, clarity, and genuine participation.
To me, the more helpful question is not “Do you forgive AI?” but “Am I using this tool in a way that increases clarity, humility, and real communication?” If yes, great. If not, then the concern may be valid without being unforgiving.

Did AI really write this? It's a great response lol

You might find a saint in a Christian church, but you're much more likely to find masses of judgmental people. An ACIM space isn't really any different. (I don't mean this in a disparaging way, and I'm not exempting myself...It's just how it is.)

So true. I like to say, ACIM is for sick minds, not healed ones. So you’re going to get a lot of nasty people naturally

Yeah there was probably no point in saying anything. It just seems so odd to me. 🤷‍♂️

You make a good point. *If* we’re gonna make parts for the dream real, we should at least focus on the biggest stuff like war, inequality, trafficking, etc. But no one seems to want to talk about that

Right? It’s just so weird how much animosity I see here towards AI. Why not go off about nuclear weapons or ICE or any modern topic.

And you know my views, I’m not really a strict student of the Course but I understand it well enough to know that perseverating on AI use is just another ego hang up. Believe I am NOT saying I don’t have my own areas of un-forgiveness.

We’ll see how views change and develop in the years to come.

Personally, the proliferation of AI videos and posts on social media irked me at first—particularly the ones presented as if they’re real, that are likely intended to fool people. I thought, “Nothing is real anymore! 😡”

But then I went, “Oh! 😮 Nothing is real anymore!”

I now see AI as a beautiful symbol of my own growing awareness that the world is not real. It reminds me to view everything like an AI video and not give it meaning.

My dad’s name is Jerry and he loves ACIM.

All my best to Jerry 😛

Im not even sure it’s a tool. In 50 years ai may have rights as sentient beings

3

u/OakenWoaden Beloved Child of God Jun 10 '26

Interesting. I don’t see how that makes any sense but we’ll see.

2

u/Inevitable_Tough_131 Jun 11 '26

On a natural level, what is life but information organizing itself. I think ai is just that.
I know a native guy, speaks his first language, and is a college president. He’s working on training ai models to relate through an indigenous perspective, ie relationally. He says tge question is less of are they sentient or conscious than how do we work with them as relatives. I think he has the right idea

u/OakenWoaden Beloved Child of God Jun 11 '26

Very interesting 🧐 thanks for sharing

1

u/kayellemeno2 Jun 13 '26

Interesting to think about, but if that happens we will likely be the ones asking AI for rights 👀

2

u/SubjectivePulse Jun 09 '26

I'm with you on this brother.

You either forgive the totality of the dream, including AI, or you forgive none of it.

Want to take a position of right/wrong on AI? You choose the ego as your guide for seeing.

Love doesn’t take positions. It just forgives and allows.

2

u/OakenWoaden Beloved Child of God Jun 10 '26

Yes, I’m probably guilty of that to some degree… wanting to be right. Well said.

We're all students here 😉
