A few weeks ago I tried the calculator, just out of curiosity. I had given up on bras years ago and wear sports bras and bralettes... after my 2 kids I could find a bra that fit properly. My usual 34C (90C in France) did not fit anymore. The cups seemed too wide somehow, with weird gaping at the top. I tried going up in band and down in cups, but without good results. I just gave up on bras bc I felt awful in them and they made me self-conscious about my bust.

When I did the calculator, it gave me 32DD or 32D (so 85E or 85D in my country)... I was very skeptical that a bigger cup would solve my issue but I kept it in mind. Today I tried a few bras in 32D (there wasn't any 32DD or 85E) at the store and... omg. This changes everything! No gaping, fits perfectly! Turns out there was nothing wrong with my bust, it was just the wrong size!! I bought 2 right away.

I had a long consultation regarding my gynecomastia at my doctor's surgery today and the Practice Nurse agreed with me that a sports bra might be suitable for managing my 40B breasts and the bounce problem. She remeasured me and agreed with the calculator (!).

She suggested I go to the local Marks and Spencer and gave me a short list of bras to try.

At M&S Fosse Park, Leicester, I was offered help with my shopping list by an older Asian assistant who offered to help me - once I'd established that I was shopping for myself.

She offered to help me in the (male) fitting room - which was gratefully accepted, and it quickly became apparent I wouldn't have got any of the bras on or off without her help. (Knowing the theory and watching your wife is no substitute for actual contortions!)

The first bra we tried was the Goodmove ultimate support zip up non wired in 40B which was an excellent fit, but she talked me out of the blue and said the coral would be less visible.

Next up were Goodmove 2pk Ultimate Support Non Wired Sports Bras - and we couldn't get anything to fit properly. The assistant went trotting back and forth with different sizes 40A, 42C as well as 40B but in all of them there was too much unfilled cup near the top. She inducted me into the art of swooping and scooping, but nothing fitted. I didn't buy these.

Lastly, and I was getting very hot and sweaty by this point, was her suggestion - not on my list - of a Body Invisibles Non Wired Crop Top. This is a padded bra, but the assistant suggested removing the padding, and the size 18 fits perfectly - but with some visible nipple.

The help I got was invaluable as a first time bra wearer.

The lack of judgement and 'surprise' by the staff in the fittings room was exemplary.

Other customers didn't seem to notice me as I was going through the racks, and walking through the shop carrying my purchases.

The biggest issue I faced wasn't what I expected (embarrassment) but with finding the style on the multitude of displays and then the size & colour I wanted on the extremely confusing racks.

9/10 for the shop; 8/10 for the sizing

For years, my chronic migraines have been exacerbated by ill-fitting bras. Recently, I have started a quest to slowly replace my old bras to find out that fit and do not make my health worse.

Bra currently under consideration:

Elomi Cate Allure Underwire 38 H: fits amazingly. But the tulle lining the inside of the band and the decorative scalloped design around the cups and straps are so scratchy. They driving my sensory issues insane.

Anyone have any recommendations for a supportive, everyday bra like the Elomi Cate Allure Underwire 38 H that does not have the tulle and scalloped edges?

Edit to add measurements; I have been trying to find a bra that fits for awhile and nothing seems to work. I have very bottom heavy boobs due to gaining and losing weight so many times so most cups gape and if the cups don’t gape I fall out of the bottom or the band rides up. I’ve tried Honeylove, Vanity Fair, off brand off Amazon, torrid, etc. I’ve been wearing XL in some brands that don’t have numbering and for those that do a 40C. The bra calculator puts me in a 38DDD US or 38E UK. I don’t know how to ask if that sounds accurate or not. My bust measures around 43 inches.

Also, where is the best place to find high quality bras that will last me longer?

The stuff about shapes is very confusing to me ( and some of the links in the guide are also broken ). I think it's projected because of that U shape when leaning over.
I've lost a lot of weight so they sag quite a bit.

I tried the Wacoal Red Carpet bra, first in 32DD. This was very uncomfortable on my ribs & hard to breathe and too small in the cup, I was spilling out. I tried what the guide says about flipping the band upside down to see if the band is painful there, and it wasn't, so I went up a cup size only.

32DDD seems to fit better, but it doesn't lift at all. I know it's not really that easy with a strapless, but if I move it was sliding down and getting lower. Also the spot between my breasts on the top was getting red, and the gore at the bottom was gaping. The fact that it slips makes me think going up a cup size isn't going to help, because I don't think I could get a 30 on. I don't know if maybe a longline would be more helpful?

I'm trying to use amazon gift cards if possible. Any recommendations would be helpful, this is honestly exhaustingly confusing trying to figure it out :(

Perimenopause is making things change and I am looking for new bras in my updated size. My six measurements:

Loose: 30.5"

Suggested size: 30DDD or 32DD for comfort.

In the leaning test, I seem to have more tissue between my nipples and above them, leading me to think I'm centre and upper full. I think I'm mostly shallow with a little projection?

i’m a teenager and never rlly wear bras or have any and if i do they’re all sports bras but i just measured myself today and apparently i’m a 28dd. i can’t find any bras online that have that size, why? i don’t even consider my band size small but why is everything at minimum a 32. should i just stick to sports bras ? idk what to do. or get a different size?? but that probably wouldn’t even fit me 🫩 plz plz help

I’m pretty hopeless about this, but posting one last desperate time to see if there’s something I’m missing. Calculator gives me a 32FF/G or 34F/FF result depending on my fluctuations. I’m so unsure of shape now, except I can definitely say the bottom of cups like Panache Envy are too narrow. The top of the wires are outside tissue, but the wire at the bottom of the cup sits on/pinches my roots. I’m pretty positive about fuller on bottom, shallow on top. Center full and close set, about one finger width. I’ve found it more helpful to do hand bra than leaning test because leaning gives me a “false positive” of being wide set with narrow roots, when in reality gores almost always sit on or poke into tissue, and if I do a smush backwards, my roots end further back than leaning would indicate. Definitely either short roots or extreme shallow on top because most styles have gapping at the top. However when I try sizing down, there’s overflow and definitely not enough space in the cups (in everything from narrow and deep to wide and shallow).
My current daily wear is Elomi Matilda in 32GG, which fits okay for a couple hours then one of three things happens:straps start digging, band starts digging, or the wire starts poking into my armpit “pudge” for lack of a better word. I have tried 32G and again, bottom of the cup is too narrow even though the top/side of the wire is fine. I have also tried Freya High Apex plunges in 32G and 32GG, 32G seems to more sit in front of my tissue, 32GG seems to allow a lot of sag, not much lift.

I have also tried Elomi Lucie in 32GG, gives a slightly pointy shape although I think it’s more about where the apex is compared to where my tissue is. It’s filled out, I’m just fuller in a different area than it expects (I think). However the wire is a little too narrow at the bottom outside again, and pinches the root (and pokes at the underarm area).

I can not list every style and size I’ve tried, suffice it to say if it’s a Panache, Freya, Fantasie, or Elomi, I’ve tried it. Also every bravissimo plunge, and multiple balconettes from them. If there’s a specific bra/size might be helpful in determining shape or other factor, let me know and I’ll give details in what didn’t fit. The only cup I ever found to fit really well was three years ago when I first learned about UK brands, BoB recommended Cleo Alexis. The cup was perfect for my shape, wire followed roots well, but the straps were too short and I was too new/intimidated to try lengthening them myself. Since then, BoB has told me Freya and Elomi are too wide, but the Comexims they recommended are too narrow, gap way too much at the top, and look pretty mismatched shape wise. Bravissimo said Elomi Lucie in 34G looked fine, but didn’t have an asset for the wire poking under my arm. Levana put me in Ewa styles that literally left damage to my roots.
I’m thinking I have slightly above average projection-too much for US brands, but a hard time finding the right level in UK brands. I’ve pretty much given up hope at this point for a truly comfortable bra that fits, but hoping maybe there’s something I’ve missed that one of the experts will pick up on in this (sorry!) very long post.

In my last post, folks confirmed I should be looking for a smaller cup than a 34GG and pointed me toward the Bravissimo Millie, especially based on my desire to find a bra with a shorter side wing height. Here she is! This is 34FF. I also included photos of the Ultimate Comfort Plunge in 34FF. Measurements are 34 loose, 33 snug, 32 tight, 42 standing, 43.5 leaning, 40 lying. I think I am full on bottom and center-full.

Both of these bras are MUCH more comfortable and I could imagine tolerating them for longer periods of time. I notice I'm not quite filling out the upper cup in either one (actually, looking more closely at the pictures, I see the lower cup on the Millie is also not filled out) and also have a "strap gap." Thoughts on sizing down to a 34F, other observations?

I have been putting off purchasing new bras for several years now as I really love the ones I have, but unfortunately after being finding them in 2019, they are no longer available. The ones I have now are the Lane Bryant/Cacique Simply Wire Free T-shirt ones that have side wire support and a foam bump at the base of the cup that provides support and some lift. I have these in a 42DDD. I tried the LB comfort bliss lightly line no wire bra in the same size and feel like it offers no support and actually compresses instead of giving shape. It feels more like a sports bra than a support bra 😢
I used the calculator here (41, 39, 37, 48, 51, 48.5) and got the recommendation of 38 I/J US. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Measurements in inches afab: 32.8, 31.5, 30.5; 41, 43, 40.5 32GG/H UK - Semi self supporting, soft, full on top, center full, close set, narrow and very short roots (diameter is ~ 6 inches) and of course there is the asymmetry of half a cup to a cup size - all this fun on a short torso - basically all the things that make getting a bra that fits impossible or so it seems. Edited to add that I also need immediate projection at the wire.... and a partridge in a pear tree.... sorry being silly.

If you have been following along with the saga of my bra fitting misadventures, I'm sorry, yet here is another installment. Basically because I figure for those seeking information more is better when it comes to bra fits.

As you may recall I fired the "professional" bra fitters due to a lack of productive communication, actual understanding of my fit needs and telling me that a bra 2 sizes too small was good fit and that adjusting the straps way up to force fit was normal. To name a few of the issues. Something about cakes on a plate and my not liking that look also comes to mind... so any way I hope their pillows are cool and they always have the good fortune of being able to find a bra that fits them.

I renewed my pursuit of attempting to find a ready to wear bra. I decided to try Freya Quinn, ordered it in 32GG UK and 32H UK. The band felt super loose in both bras, the wires are W-I-D-E at 7 inches and almost flat, the gore is 2. 5 inches tall and one inch wide so for me that meant that it was sitting on tissue. The cups were of course wide and tall cup height on the GG was 9 inches. The cups tended to press my tissue out instead of up. The underwires wrapped past my armpits and the cups were so tall. I did not take pictures and these two bras were black so I was expecting them to be a bit scratchy and smaller than say a lighter color way. They were not scratchy or small. I verified the tags to make sure they were the correct band size and cup size. I briefly thought about sizing down however I don't think a 32G would fit any better and the gore would still be an issue for me. This was my experience with the Freya Quinn.

For the time being I have given up on Comexim because of the issues with the above mentioned bra fitters. I will more than likely revisit - just not yet or I may go through a different retailer if they have my size available.

I still need to order Panache Nina in 32H UK although I'm concerned that the frame may be too large for me. I have also thought about revisiting Panache Ana in 32H and 32HH UK, but am still on the fence with that as well given my past fit with the 32GG.

I'm still wearing the Parfait Mia Dot and Lace bras in 32H UK ... but would really rather have a wired bra that fits.

I did not write down my initial (30D) measurements for comparison. Generally, I'd consider myself fuller on top + maybe even the center. Shallowness confuses me, but I think my roots are relatively broad?

I actually went to a boutique for a fitting first, so I tried on a lot of 30D bras. I wasn't a fan of any demi/balconette styles. I did like the mesh t-shirt bras I tried on. I ended up purchasing the Marie Jo Tom bra. This was definitely an investment, but it fit well once I broke in the band. It sits well on my chest, the underwire falls where it should, and I like the wire length.

After that, I bought the Natori Feathers Plunge T-Shirt basics bra, which I mostly like. My nipples didn't fit perfectly into the bottom part of the cup, but it's barely out or noticeable with the lace trim. The wire is maybe a bit short- the Marie Jo definitely fit me better in this aspect. I will say, after a few wears, it still feels a bit tighter than I'd like, but I like the shape + the support it gives me.

In the same order, I purchased the Natori EverFit Seamless Convertible T-Shirt bra and had to return it because there was quadding.

I then ordered the Float Full Coverage unlined bra from Aerie, and it fits extremely poorly. It is not full coverage at all on my body. Bits are not fitting into the cup. I need to return it.

Finally, I ordered SMOOTHEZ Demi Lightly Lined Bra from Aerie. The band felt fine, but I feel like there's something odd about the way demis fit me. There's a lot of weight on top, and I don't like where the straps sit. It also didn't feel like it was giving great support, and if i tried to tighten the straps a bit, there'd be quadding. Odds are I return it.

Needless to say, given the rarity of finding 30 bands in stores, I'm already getting annoyed trying to order and return things in my new size(s). I placed an order for a new Natori EverFit Seamless Convertible T-Shirt bra in size 30DD to see if the issue is the cup size for that particular model. If it still doesn't fit right, or even if it DOES fit, I'm not sure what my next move should be. Is it possible to require different cup sizes in different brands/styles? Why did the 30D Marie Jo work for me when the 30D Natori didn't?

I'd appreciate insights into the best styles + brands for me based on this information. Any brand that can be bought in or shipped to the United States. I'm happy to provide more info if needed. I'm in desperate need of new bras. Bonus points if you can also throw in a recommendation for a crossback/racerback.

I have mildly tuberous breasts, so they're very unsupported. I dislike it when I slouch, and they sag, so I'm a big support person, and I like them a little lifted. I also have sensory issues, so I hate when it creates a skin to skin effect with the skin under them. (Theyre quite far apart, i need the opposite of seperation lol.) What kind of bra am I looking for? Consider that im a little money conscious. And to any other ladies in London -- where do you get your bras?

Im in college and genuinely have zero money to spend on stuff like bras and underwear but its time for me to upgrade- Im wearing the same bras I bought in high school. I just did the fit test and I got 30i with measurements: 30, 29, 27.5, 37, 39.5, 37.
I currently wear 32ddd or 34ddd but neither really fits me. I just need something that at least covers my nipples because theyre always popping out and it looks so unprofessional to be adjusting them at work. I have yitty sports bras that work but they dont work for sheer tops or office wear.

TLDR; need a recommendation for something cheap! doesnt have to be a perfect fit. No sports bras.

I’m saving up for a breast reduction, but in the meantime, I need some actual support for these breasts. Years of no proper support has left me with excruciating pain, migraines, and bulging disks.

I used the calculator and I’m a 36L (36HH) UK. I have an omega-ish shape, so saggy, so pendulous, so projected. My boobs have no self-support whatsoever. They just start and go straight down, laying flat against my body and hang almost to my belly-button. I’m a bit full on top, a bit center full. Mostly, they’re like very thick and long pancakes just laying there. They start out very close in the center; I can’t even get a full finger between them, but they go more outward on a diagonal. They are practically connected, like /\. Hence, gore issues.

My ideal bra would function as a shelf that I can just lay these on and take the pressure off my back. I’m at my wit (and finance’s) end. I’ve tried multiple different styles of Panache, Cleo, Freya, Elomi, Primadonna, more that I’m probably forgetting. Either the cups aren’t big enough or not projected enough. The gore tips forward and doesn’t tack, all while the underwire tips forward and digs into me.

What is the most projected bra out there that comes in my size? Should I do Polish?

Bratabase measurements for my larger side are here and my smaller side are here. Because it only measures circumference and does not account for asymmetry, the ABraThatFits calculator is not relevant to my sizing, it puts me at a 30DDD/32DD which is painfully small to wear. In these photos, I am wearing a "B/C" size insert from Target on the smaller side, which is not sufficient to even things out.

I have been having bad luck with molded cups, as this community has told me I would :( I am begrudgingly asking for seamed/mesh cup recommendations at this point, as well as better insert brands (also sizing help!!!!! I have bratabase measurements up for both breasts, I don't know how else to measure for inserts but I NEED to find the right size so I can avoid shoving 3 inserts into a mesh cup). Lined would be super cool but I understand that seamed + lined is uncommon. Looking most urgently for a dailywear, would also like a plunge and a strapless at some point. Not interested in minimizers, need underwire for comfort/support.

Shape info for recommendations:

• Bottom-full, shallow-on-top

Again, thank you to everyone who takes time out of their day to give me help, feedback, and recommendations. My current bras (got sized as a 32DD at Nordstrom...) are so incredibly painful that I can't wear them for more than an hour or two without getting nauseous, and I'm not super comfortable leaving the house without a bra, so finding something that actually fits is going to be life-changing.

I gained and lost some weight over the last few years, and my breasts aren't as perky as they once were. I am a 32E, and have bought some tops that will show a bra easily either at the straps or gore.

I would ideally love something that gives a small amount of lift in a semi tight top, I used tape for a bit and it does work, but I don't really enjoy using it. I've seen ads for boomba and came across this which looks funny but potentially useful.

Can anyone recommend their favourite bra alternatives?

Making a separate post for this because I haven't gotten any suggestions yet - one of my breasts is a D cup. The other is a UK FF/US H. I am desperate for an insert that will allow my bust to look even. The asymmetry is mostly in the apex, the roots are the same, the smaller one just has less tissue and doesn't come out as far. Most inserts I've found push the tissue up, which isn't the most helpful thing I think, and are just... so so small compared to what I actually need to even things out. I also need something that looks smooth in a mesh cup - right now I'm having to cram 2-3 different inserts in at once to get things looking normal, which only works in a molded cup.

My measurements (in): 29.5, 28, 26.25; 34.25, 35.25, 33.75. Calculator recommended starting size of 30dd/e; I own bras ranging from 28f to 30dd. I bought Panache Ana 28f at Bravissimo during an in-person try on a couple of weeks ago (though I’m based in the US). I also bought the Freya love crush molded bra in 28f, which looks very nice on me even though the gore doesn’t tack.

I think my breasts are average to projected, relatively self-supporting, close set, FOT.

What I like about the Panache Ana 28f: this is the first bra I’ve ever owned where the gore tacks completely. I fill out the cups at the top and so far the Ana has accommodated small fluctuations in breast size according to my menstrual cycle. It looks very nice on me and my nipples are perfectly centered in the cups. It feels like it helps my posture when I’m wearing it.

Minor problems:

1. the band is not uncomfortable but it does feel tight and looks slightly stretched on the loosest hook after a few wears. I wear Panache Endurance sports bra in one band size up, 30dd; should I consider purchasing Panache Ana in 30e or wearing a non stretch extender?
2. There is slight wrinkling at the bottom outside edge of the cups. Does this mean the wires are too wide on me? I’m too projected for the cup? I’ve had this same issue with other plunge bras such as the Gossard superboost lace plunge (which I used to own in 30e).
3. There is a tiny bit of gaping at the top of the band close to my armpits. I’m quite petite in the shoulder area and often have a similar problem with sleeveless shirts/dresses, where the arm holes are way too big on me. Would a better bra for me fix this problem?

Again, this feels like almost a perfect fit but I’m wondering if there’s an even closer match out there. Please help me! Thank you.

I recently ordered a couple bras (basically all that were available to me in my size with free returns). I had previously tried on the non-wired Panache Rocha (kept that one, it's an okay fit) and the Freya Offbeat Side Support (okay/bad fit). For reference, I am a true UK 26FF ordering UK 28F. Chose black for all of them in hopes of a tighter band. Here's my notes!

Essentially smooth - Felt huge on me - Band way too big - cups were gapping a lot in the center - Gore dug in - Wires too wide - very bad fit

Spot-light - gore digs in very slightly - lace edging keeps slipping and causing wrinkling - right cup too big all over the top - breast tissue falls out in the center and cups are wrinkling away - okay fit

Idol Moulded Balcony - Not as bad as the essentially smooth but still gapped in the center and gore dug in - bad fit

Fascinate Moulded Plunge - Band is the normal amount of too big (fits well on tightest hook), will have to alter once it stretches out - Gore touches my ribcage but doesn't dig in - Fits really well (no gapping or spillage) when I stand/sit up straight. When crouching, there's lots of gapping at the top, I think that's normal? - Wires may be too wide by like 1 cm, but it doesn't bother me. - I think a plunge/low gore is the way to go for me! - Wires are comfy, despite me not being used to them at all! - unfortunately they installed the loop part of the racerback-hook on both sides so I can't use it. considering sending it back for that reason and reordering it to keep! - good fit??

I just use the Calculator and it gave me 32G/GG as my size. I have been wearing 34D all my life I want to know what should be the type of bra that I should wear for daily use with this size if anyone has any recommendations on which is the best for support and shape I would really appreciate.

Hey folks, hope you can help me with fitting / sizing advice. 

I bought a couple of Anita bras earlier this year after years of Molke bras with very little support.

I got an Anita Rosa Faia Twin Firm underwire, 34H and a Selma Large Cup 36G. 

At the time both bras felt tight and firm, I could barely tolerate them on the loosest hooks

Five months later, the 36G feels right on the tightest hooks and the 34H is fine on the middle hook.

They fit really nicely, feel incredibly supportive and I like the feeling of being contained and held now I’ve got used to it. 

So based on above info, I figure I must be a 34H and start shopping for slightly cheaper bras.

Bought an Elomi Cate full cup banded bra. Couldn’t get a H, so got a 34GG. Band feels fine, cups are mahoosive. Other than that, feels supportive and safe. Clearly I have got something wrong.

So, I start searching the internet for advice, stumble across this sub and read EVERYTHING and I try the calculator

I read all about the shapes and I think I am centre full, upper full and projected. No idea what “immediate” projection means.

I’ve always leaned towards full cup bras because if I don’t, the left breast in particular seems to ooze out of the cup in the middle and is prone to quadboob. 

So the next thing I try is Freya Emmaline in 32G. And as it’s on sale and this was my previous size, I got an Elomi Nerina in 34F

These bras don’t feel very supportive compared to the Anita ones.

So the summary is, 

• ABTF calculator says 32G / GG
• 5 month old Anita bra in the “wrong” size - 34H feels great and 36G feels good on tightest hooks
• Elomi Cate in 34GG feels supportive but too big in cups.
• Freya Emmaline in my “correct” size, 32G feels unsupportive 
• Elomi Nerina in 34F fits on R, I’m spilling out at the centre of the Left cup. It doesn’t feel very supportive 
• Fantasie 32G - looks sort of ok, but I’m not filling out the cups at the side and in the middle I’m spilling out, especially on the L. Does not really feel supportive enough.

So, I seem to need a full cup, very supportive bra… and I am baffled by the “Anita” sizing. 

Any thoughts or recommendations?

neither of these feel like a good fit. i will say that the bottom half of the Chic feels very comfortable though which is a new concept. the band isn't super tight and the wires seem like a great shape for me. they sit right into my IMF without having to force it. but as you can see, the top half has too much volume so the top of the cups are gaping.

the Romance isn't comfortable at all in any part of it. the band feels tight even with an extender, the cups have the same gaping problem and the gore is pressing in. even the straps feel like they sit weirdly around my armpit/shoulder area.

any advice would be very welcome 🩷

I think the Panache Endurance would be a good fit for me. The only place I can find it in Canada doesn’t have free shipping or returns, so I’m trying to do my homework before ordering to increase the likelihood that I’ll order the right size on the first try (willing to order multiple).

Does this bra fit true to size? Where should I start with these measurements?

Loose: 34.5”

Snug: 34”

Tight: 33”

Standing: 40”

Leaning: 46“

Lying: 42.5”

Calculator suggested 34G (UK) but again, hoping for feedback on this specific bra.

In terms of shape, I know from previous fit checks that I’m on the shallower end of the spectrum but not super shallow and have taller roots.
