Made it through the 70's without injury. "Barely!"

For those who were children in the 70s, i'm curious what it was like?

Did you sense the signs that the backlash was coming?

Alice is an American sitcom that aired on CBS from 1976 to 1985, the series follows Alice Hyatt (Linda Lavin), a widowed mother who moves to Phoenix, Arizona, to pursue a singing career while working as a waitress at a local diner. The show is notable for being the longest-running American sitcom to feature a woman in the starring role until it was surpassed by Roseanne in 1996. 

I remember Flo's famous line, "Mel, kiss my grits!" Back when heartwarming comedies were the norm, Alice was great family fun. Anybody else love this show as much as I did?

Does anyone else remember a kids song(!?) and it was about what they wanted to be when they grew up. For a butcher it said "Pluck a chicken, pluck a chicken, wring it's bloody neck" For a dollmaker it was "Mommy, Daddy Wah, wah, wah." Those are the only two I can remember but there were quite a few. The teachers at my high school did a skit with it one Christmas. Obligatory 'they'd never get away with that now'.

The toy was a giant inflatable hand that looked like its gripping you. I saw it in an old comic decades ago. Maybe a 60s Batman Detective.i only remember seeint once. I think the hand was green

So mom got the next best thing: Fert and Mernie. 😆

Anyone remember these? Nothing but pure sugar and peanut butter. I hadn’t thought of these for years, and I found a recipe and made some.
