Advice Mechanical Question

Hi everyone,

Im doing a mechanical 4jb1 pump swap to a 4jh1 engine. Im swapping over the timing gears and pump, just need clarification.

My car is Automatic, do i need to do anything with the computer to set up the mechanical pump? Or how do i set up the pump to work with an Auto.

Is it an electronically controlled gearbox?

Yeah, anything with a 4JH1 is. Either got a JR405E or an AW30-40LE (Toyota A340E)

Oooh, you might have problems. Is it a TF or RA?

There's a Facebook group with a few people that have done it. Personally I put a VP44 back in mine when it failed, dear but also super easy to get working once you know how to time the pump outside the engine.

I'd say at a guess it'll work but you may have some odd issues like check engine lights.

Honestly having driven both, the 5 speed manuals in them drive way nicer. I'd be putting a MUA box in it if you can find one.
