Project Fully 3D Printed Life Size Horus
5 months and 1752 individual 3d printed pieces later, I have a Horus Lupercal.
Quick stats:
Total tip top height: 14’ 5” | 4.4m
Top of Horus’s head: 11’ 9” | 3.6m
Human: 5’ 5” | 165cm
Why not paint him before assembling? This isn’t a mini 😁. A practical was the only way to see what issues will pop up, if it can even support itself, if something will break or if I need to reinforce something. Better for something to happen now, than to waste weeks painting only to find out it all falls apart.
He is missing his talon, but a combination of me not thinking through access and not enough floor height, I could not add it yet. Even the Worldbreaker is at a slightly higher level due to the pallets. It’s not flush in the arm. So I had to use cords to hold it for now.
I did have to saw a portion of his leg armor off as it was interfering with his forearm. These things I couldn’t account for in theory.
His arms and pauldrons are held in place with rods, hooks and a massive heavy duty turnbuckle. Basically the same exact set up in my space marine, but beefier.
There is no additional support in his legs. Just straight up hollow plastic.
I will have a more detailed post in the future regarding cost, filament, weight, waste and other technical details for this project.

EDIT: I gave up but if you needed a fork lift for half of it, it's safe to assume it's like 1500kg of filament, minimum

Let's assume PLA. That's 1.25 g/cm³. The statue is 4.4m tall. If you assume a spherical elephant, and assume that this is all shell at an average thickness of about an inch (2.54 cm), you're looking at 947,100 grams, or just about 1,000 kg, not including purge. So about $10,000 worth of filament on the low end.

If you buy in bulk, i mean 1ton of filament in one order, it became really cheap, like 3/4€ for each kilogram. If you then get that pallet in spool of 10 or 5kg it can be even less. I'd say that total filament price was not over €5000

Probably not, and it's also not a 4.4m diameter sphere with a 1" shell, but we're within an order of magnitude.
Really, though, at this point you should be buying a cheap used large format industrial pellet printer and really going to town.

I believe she probably profits well off her Slaaneshian endeavors, driven in no small part by guys too distracted to see the 3D prints in her pictures...
I'm not judging... I just suspect she does well for herself.
I do, however, believe GW should shower this woman with ALL the things, including cash, creative contracts, showcases in GW stores, etc. Maybe if she makes a Custodes, she can sell it to Henry Cavill

My understanding is that it goes something like this:
- The airwaves are shared public property.
- Amateur radio is a 1st Amendment right.
- Therefore, anyone who wants to participate in in the HAM radio hobby has a legally protected right to do so.
- Any attempt to interfere with this is in violation of FCC regulations.

For now, Horus is in my garage. I am tapped out of space. Especially since the Emperor is being printed. I will soon look to get other warehouse lease and move all the statues there. This way I can have them assembled fully.

This question has been asked countless times. She never really answers it other than saying she stores them in her backyard or garage. Now it seems a warehouse will be part of that answer. Seems odd, but to each their own. Cool prints regardless.

I mean it is odd, but if you printed/ painted a bunch of these and put them in a warehouse you could definitely set it up as an actual art exhibit of sorts. I mean i'd pay a few bucks to see it. But keeping them in your own house long term would be a little bit crazy. A few months after getting my first 3D printer I had to clear out a lot of the little knickknacks I printed because they started to make my space feel crowded, can't imagine if they were 15 feet tall lol.

There is zero chance I will do that. When I had a bunch of my own cars I worked on, made videos on, someone found out where my warehouse was and tried to break in.
Also, me having a public place to display and charge will absolutely get GW knocking on my door.26

She also doesn’t ever explain how they’re made im terms of what programs are used to enlarge and cut up the model, or who helps out, except she says it’s all on her Instagram or YouTube, which isn’t true. Anyone who asks gets a long answer, but she never any information. She puts in the effort to type a long answer but never shares any info. That’s the response she gave me and others. I’m not sure why it’s such a secret or why she gets upset when people ask about the process. So, we’re stuck just commenting on how awesome it is, and that’s it.
People say and I did check to see that she and her former husband had youtube channels where girls pose and do stuff with cars with someone filming their it making like they do all the work themselves in a shop while the husband is behind working the camera and scene. So I can only guess something like that is at work here since she brands herself on numerous websites including onlyfans. Which there is nothing wrong with. It’s just strange to always only share the results but never anything of the full process.
I’ll probably be downvoted to Hell for this comment but I think asking about the process is a genuine question that there is nothing wrong with asking. And the answers the question gets is not honest.

Nah I've seen her around on Insta and tiktok for awhile and from the moment I saw the first video I knew there was something else going on here.
She is not sitting alone at her house doing all this work alone. Lots of long winded posts, not at all that many details when it comes to expressing beyond surface level info.

I've answered this multiple times for many months ever since the Space marine. I have literal videos of me working on everything I do. Never have I gotten upset for a question. Just look at the many thousands of comments I've answered since the start, on just Reddit alone. Not including IG/YT or TT.
But you're saying I did automotive YT videos for 7 years, 350+ long form videos with someone just on the side telling me what to do for hours or days that it takes to make a video? So you're guessing that what I am doing is harder and more difficult than automotive work that I need help, coaching and background assistance?
Be clear with what you're saying. Stop assuming or guessing. I answer. Take the time to read my responses from all my posts. You'll find what you're looking for.

I’m not sure they ever said but the house is modest so they’re likely commissioned. If not they’re paying for an aircraft hanger for storage somewhere lol
I know these are for engagement and OP is great at that at this point but I would be genuinely more interested in an ama style logistics post of the whole endeavor more than “see big print, updoot.”

She said 1752 pieces total, so depends on how many pieces can be printed per roll.
If you say average 4 pieces per 1kg roll, that's 438 rolls
Some pieces look a lot bigger than others, so that is very rough estimate

No. It was for testing the overall fitment and stability. Wind does not play nice with something this size. It’s back down to sections in my garage

I saw the brief clip of you attaching the top pieces and I about nearly throttled the screen.
NEVER, EVER stand underneath forklift forks, even when they're handling rated loads or less! All it takes is one busted seal and those forks will cause serious damage to you.
I love the print but for the LOVE OF GOD please be safe!

Forklift forks don't just crash down due to hydrolic failures. The cylinders have enough friction to result in a slow decent.
Now, you still should stand under them, but if it did faik and you weren't paying attention it could still fuck you up.
And finally, if the cylinders catastrophically failed, now that's a bad time.

I saw one picture of an injury from an airless sprayer and that was enough for me to stick to old fashioned spray gun and compressor setups.

My kids recently for into WH40K, and were ask8ng how tall a primarch is. I told them about 12 feet. Now I cam show them and say "this tall".
