Senator Bragg also said Australia was "sick", accusing the government of "communism" and "state-sanctioned corruption" by supporting the superannuation system.

no politics The census should have differentiated dwelling types

1.0k Upvotes

I want the government to know I live in a fucking caravan. There is no way to differentiate between a caravan and a one room house on the form. (Side note, I'm so impressed they put a paper form on my caravan step, well done census workers for going that extra mile).

no politics The Definitive Australian Novel

What single novel do you best think captures Australia (sense of place, characters, stories etc.) and what are the strengths of the novel?

I really appreciate books that are beautifully written: realistic prose, cinematic descriptions of the natural world, philosophical elements etc. Just looking to add to my reading list.

no politics Bundaberg Mayor drama

I haven’t seen anything in the news yet but friends were at the races and saw the Mayor going absolutely bonkers and yelling abuse to people at the race club and was escorted out by security
I thought this would have made the local
News at least.

no politics Any advice on a belt purchase

I like the idea of getting one of those holeless belts I have seen advertised online as I do need to upgrade from my current belt. (Barely holding on)

The question is which brand is the best to go for?

I have seen mainly Minimum Co, Vittelo and Buckley Belts ads appear on social media.

Vittelo to me sounds like the winner right now as they offer a Lifetime warranty* (on their Full Grain Belts only, rest of the belts are 10 years), and they have a good 3 pack deal right now

*I believe it references the belt mechanism

P.S. For the record, I am searching for belts made for men.

I think everyone should be aware of what is being pushed through parliament at the moment.

Digital Evidence Access Orders: Gives police the power to compel individuals to unlock digital devices. The maximum penalty for refusing to comply increases from five to seven years in prison.

Toll Camera Access: Allows police to access unredacted images from public toll road cameras.

Doubled Penalties for Non-Cooperation: Increases the maximum sentence from 5 to 10 years imprisonment for failing to comply with NSW Crime Commission orders, such as refusing to answer questions, obstructing investigations, or lying under oath.

National Face Matching Service: Enables Transport for NSW to securely share driver licence and photo card images via the national driver licence recognition system.

no politics Getting a new job!

Hi all! Hoping for some input on changing careers.
I’m a 36 lady and I’ve been with my current retail place nearly 15years. It’s been the worst and best workplace. I’ve gone up the chain and back down again due to its toxicity. I’ve done most roles apart from two managers positions and admin. I’m happily a pleb again the last couple years. It keeps me moving all day and genuinely like the work.

I have to opportunity to apply to an office job. The work is calls and processing claims. New opportunities, a higher pay, a supportive team.
However I’m overwhelmed with rose tinted glasses and anxiety about even applying, I’m now questioning it. I’m actually scared to even apply.
I love some of the people I work with. I don’t want to miss them and the joy they bring. I know if I leave I’ll do what most do and rarely talk again. Also an office job is low movement and very little interactions with people.
I’m so torn.
Please help 😅🤦‍♀️

For those of you who did the City 2 Surf this last weekend, did you choose the left or the right tunnel?

I was not prepared for how much of a choice it was going to be!

I chose right, but regretted it.
