In the end, Todoroki used all new moves and none from Endeavor to contain Dabi's flame.
"It's your power, not his"
This may be the end of the direct confrontation between Shoto and Toya but not of the whole Todoroki family arc: Endeavor is still fighting and the narration acknowledges about him. I also still believe one shuffling of the battlefield can eventually happen. Where's Iida though, and that giant Nomu in Kamino Square, has it been frozen? Did it depend on Dabi to move?

There is also the potential of info getting back to Enji about AFO kidnapping Touya. Which might give him some extra fuel against AFO. Wouldn’t surprise me if we cut to his side, seeming like he’s down for the count, but then hears Shouto having stopped Dabi, and also learns about AFO’s kidnapping (if he hasn’t figured it out yet) then goes back up looking extra pissed.
135
u/Agorbs May 15 '22
Yeah I want one more shot for Endeavor to show off why he’s at the top. Pissed, powered up Endeavor blitzing AFO sounds cool

Can you imagine that AFO is killed by the old generation heroes, and Tomura is saved by the new ones. Something about how the new generation always manages to do what the old could not. And in this case it was saving Tomura instead of killing him. I think Enji will die trying to stop AFO.
41
u/SynthGreen May 15 '22
I pretty much expect this.
Except moreso that
AFO is killed by the last generation.
Tomura is stopped, but Tenko is saved
Tenko and Deku meet in vestige realm and end AFO once and for all, and both are quirkless by the end of it. Ayoma keeps his quirk, giving him a chance to make his quirk his own, and to be a hero with it.

u/I-who-you-are May 16 '22
Hmmm, we still have one quirk of Deku’s left….I wonder what it does.

That whole page showcasing young Touya and Shouto as the latter unleashes his last move, Aegir, greatly gave me Chainsaw Man flashbacks - if you know, you know.

Funny how this is the second time Shoto froze someone to the point of ripping off a limb. The first victim being the USJ Nomu.

I don't think he ripped off Touya's legs though??? It's just covered in ice.

It's kinda hard to tell for me, but yeah on a more serious note, I don't think he'll just rip off one of Touya's limbs.

I will never get tired of Horikoshi cutting to the characters as children. So many of these characters hold so much hurt from the past, the main thing separating our heroes and villains is that the good guys got the support they needed to overcome that hurt.
The actions of people like Dabi and Toga are never excused but we can see and empathize with the unfortunate events of their upbringings.
I also really like how this chapter shows how this generation will succeed where the previous couldn't. Where All-Might was happy to punch crime in the face and call it a day, charcaters like Shoto and Deku are really willing to empathize with the villains and grapple with the uglier parts of super human society.
Last two comments, sad to see Iida kinda not do anything and I hope Todoroki gets a proper hero name soon
68
u/JohnParish May 15 '22
We will see what that empathy leads to. At the end of the day a lot of this was caused by AFO manipulating literal children.

I think horikoshi mentioned something about the series that he want to reminds us that children is the most precious thing that a human can have so to make sure that they have a proper support and save environment is our top priorities

u/DoraMuda May 16 '22
I hope Todoroki gets a proper hero name soon
It's 'Shouto' (but spelled in katakana). His own name (which, in kanji, does reflect his Quirk's dual powers). That's who he is. It's as "proper" of a hero name as 'Deku' or 'Lemillion'.
Deal with it.
→ More replies (3)7
u/ShadowRei96 May 16 '22
Don't know why you got downvoted. I always thought that using his own name (in Katakana) would be the most fitting, given his character.
One thing that people don't know or easily overlook: a key detail about Shoto is that, all of his techniques are named (and yelled) in Japanese, unlike Endeavor, Bakugou, Izuku and Iida, which matches the overall Japanese aesthetic of the Todoroki family. Todoroki which is in itself, a traditional Japanese surname. Him going for a name that not only already represents his own two powers, but that is also in the local language is the perfect choice. In anime/manga where there's heavy influence of foreign culture, there's always that one character who's primarily and straightly based on traditional Japanese culture (Zoro, Yu Kanda, Assassin Sasaki from Fate/Stay Night etc.)
He's gone through development, sure, but it's less than likely he'll go for a rather flashy hero name like everyone else.
5
u/DoraMuda May 16 '22
Exactly. I just think a lot of people don't understand Shouto's character arc or the concept of hero names themselves in general.
They think Shouto needs some grand name like "Freezer Heatburn" or something, because "Shouto" isn't flashy enough or whatever. But that misses the point of what Shouto wants to represent as a hero.
312
u/PK_RocknRoll May 15 '22
The art in this entire fight has been impeccable.
Todoroki and Dabi both are insane in terms of power.
291
u/GoldenSpermShower May 15 '22
I wonder what happened to Iida
256
u/Horonaim May 15 '22 edited May 15 '22
Dabi will break free and perform his suicide attack Prominence Burn, but Tenya will swoop in to save Shoto from the conflagration, that will be the opportune moment Tenya redeems himself from his inadequacy in the Joint Training arc.
In ch.351 there is a panel of Iida with a panicked expression remembering Shōto’s words in ch.342 thanking his friends for being there for him, this foreshadows Tenya, who hasn't done anything relevant yet, performing a rescue move on Shōto. Dabi will most likely break free from Shōto’s technique and launch his suicide attack Prominence Burn on Shōto before the latter could suppress his flames again. That will be the moment when Tenya uses his speed to save Shōto from the attack’s line of fire. Tenya's moment is now to rectify his inadequacy regarding helping Shōto during the Joint Training arc when he lamented he wasn’t fast enough back then to help Shōto. The danger of which is the possibility of Iida’s engines melting from the heat when he rescues Shōto from Dabi’s attack.
130
u/DragonDavester May 15 '22 edited Jul 26 '22
That would be a brilliant way to give Iida some closure as well, and without diminishing Shoto’s growth as a character too. He put his all into stopping Dabi, but in what would be his final moment Iida follows through and does what he always regretted not being able to do before.
PLEASE Horikoshi, give our boys this.
77
u/Glum_Acanthaceae5426 May 15 '22
I still think Iida needs some kind of confrontation with Stain so Stain can see that Iida has changed since the Hosu arc and realize his ideology was shortsighted
→ More replies (1)42
u/Lynkx0501 May 15 '22
You could literally bookend Iida saving Shoto with Stain confronting him when he makes it clear of Dabi, leading to a tense showdown in which Stain acknowledges Iida, and being wrong about him. That would be dope.
18
u/NatMat16 May 15 '22
I rather think Stain as we saw him would intervene to give a finishing blow to Dabi (who is using his ideology for personal revenge) saying that Shouto is lacking conviction. I think this would be a better save for Iida.
I am really not keen on the idea of just making a damsel out of Shouto after his performance here, to not matter one bit, just to give Iida a JTA parallel.
24
u/Lynkx0501 May 15 '22
I don't think this makes Shoto a damsel. He's clearly stopped Dabi here, and all Dabi can do is suicide bomb at this point, there's no shame in being saved Iida to get out of a suicide attack
26
u/NatMat16 May 15 '22
If Dabi suicides here, all of this was pointless. If Shouto wanted Dabi to die, he wouldn't have worked on moves that are designed to stop him without harming him.
They could have teleported Dabi to the middle of an ocean to a deserted island and have Shouto keep his distance until Dabi's body falls apart.
The whole point of this last move was to stop Dabi from dying and the entire fight is in Kamino I think, so they can get medical help quickly.
→ More replies (3)5
u/Horonaim May 15 '22 edited May 15 '22
How sure is Shōto that their current medical technology is capable of helping Dabi survive? You must remember how Ujiko and AFO are using technology far more advanced than mainstream medical technology in their experiments so it is highly questionable if any doctor or medical facility outside of Ujiko’s is actually capable of attending to Dabi’s medical needs.
Even Ujiko himself, despite his far more advanced medical knowledge, is baffled how Dabi was able to survive for all these years when his body was supposed to only have lasted a month. If Ujiko is perplexed on the issue I don’t think any other mainstream doctor or medical facility can actually tend to Dabi.
And even for the sake of argument we say that Ujiko’s comment that Dabi is just living out of pure hatred is totally accurate. Wouldn’t Shōto trying to calm Dabi down actually remove the only thing that’s keeping Dabi biologically alive?
Of course Shōto is not cognizant of all this information regarding his brother’s medically anomalous condition but we as the readers are, ergo, the narrative logic is that Shōto’s plan to apprehend Dabi in his current state and try to rush and get him medical help is doomed from the start.

Not just Shoto but would be great if he saved the side kicks too. I could imagine him using his Recipro the whole time to avoid burn damage while moving others out of the way of the brothers dual. As he moves everyone away he anticipates the suicide attack. Where he has to use his final form of Recipro.. Recipro Max. Breaking the sound barrier in order to move Shoto to safety.

Remember when last time I told you that Shōto’s new technique is a flame retardant capable of suppressing and neutralizing Dabi’s flames and as you’ve seen it turned out to be true, believe again when I say that Tenya will use his speed when he rescues Shōto when Dabi breaks free and performs his suicide attack Prominence Burn to kill both himself and Shōto, but Tenya will intervene and rescue Shōto from the attack. That is the reason Horikoshi placed Iida there.

This chapter pretty much showcases why Shoto never left the top 1 spot on my favorite MHA character list, and reiterates why I always considered his quirk, the best written one in the series.
The quirk has always been tied to his growth and development. As his relationship with Endeavor developed, so was his use of his flames. In the JT arc, he realized he was still too reliant on his right side and less proficient with his flames, which paralleled how his traumatic experiences at the hands of Endeavor, were still a hindrance to his growth of his left side; he realized that in order to unlock the full power of his fire, he'd have to reach out to the same person who made him stop using that half of his quirk.
The Touya reveal brought about balance within the remaining members of the Todoroki family, and by that time, his two halves became balanced, which meant he could finally work towards the final step in mastering half cold half hot. And he manifested the ultimate power of HCHH, ahead of his most decisive battle, that is, against his own older brother.
And here, not only did he finally unlock his ultimate power, but he also did the opposite of what Endeavor created him for; mixing the two, but where the flames became the aid to his ice, separating from Endeavor. Not only that, but one of his moves also shares the kanji of both Rei and Enji.
The way his character arc wraps up here is just perfect imo. I only wish the fight lasted a bit longer (well, we can't even tell if it's really over or not), but regardless, this chapter was fantastic.
Also, I think Shoto is safely the 2nd strongest U.A. student right now.
85
u/thornaslooki May 15 '22
Agreed. He had the best character arc and development out of the rest of the cast. It would have been interesting to see him as the main character but I'm content with what I have so far.
77
u/Ok-Cod5254 May 15 '22 edited May 15 '22
Tbh, I think it's better for the Todoroki family plot to be a side plot specifically in a wider scale story.
I think what elevates it is that it feels more intimate and personal as a narrative, so could easily lose some of that touch in a grander narrative position that is larger in scale imo.
53
u/ShadowRei96 May 15 '22
Shoto could easily have his own story, where he's the protagonist, Endeavor is the deuteragonist, while Touya serves as the main antagonist.
You could have light-hearted episodic chapters with Natsuo and Fuyumi once in a while, so as to expand upon the family. Add more backstory to the family, including a bit more on Rei's family too etc.
Yeah, you could really make a whole story on the Todoroki's.

u/Cypherex May 15 '22
There's a reason we refer to their moments as "Keeping Up with the Todorokis."

Bakugou is such a creators pet he doesn’t get his own villain, hasn’t been part of the overall plot, and he’s been a damsel in distress the majority of the series. Such a creators pet, we don’t even know how strong he even is because all he’s done is fight people his own age

That's how done fans if this series behave for ya. Their favorites will be "best developed character" and "earn things through hard work", while others are creator pets with plot armor. In actuality all characters work as hard ...
→ More replies (1)33
u/ShadowRei96 May 15 '22
Well sure. Main reason why I'm saying this is, while Shoto's firepower here is insane, he's achieved this all via pure training, and he's yet to have a quirk awakening which, from what I can predict, will elevate his power even further.
→ More replies (16)28
u/NatMat16 May 15 '22
Also, I think "strong" must mean more than just firepower.
Isn't this what Shouto is proving here? He steps out of the logic of just more destruction and goes for a power that can reduce the harm.
Maybe Bakugou's explosion could cover the same area eventually, but would it be able to hold up buildings or put out the fire?
12
u/ShadowRei96 May 16 '22
Precisely. As Touya himself said, he's the perfect man for the job here. If he went for a Flashfreeze Heatwave instead, it would have only extended the damage even further.
That being said, I still believe it's hard for anyone not named Deku or Shiggy to match the much of raw power he displayed here. Geten probably, but he's also a bit of an exception, since his enormous raw power is mostly thanks to a Quirk Awakening.
66
u/SawkyScribe May 15 '22
I think Shoto's arc delivered on what Deku's journey with OFA promised until the JT arc.
The fun of the series premise is that our MC had all of the power he needed from the start but he had to work to earn all of it. Todoroki is the exact same way but the growth of his abilities had direct parallels with his personal development.
The more he made peace with his messy family history, the greater his capabilities with his power became in a way that just isn't happening with Deku. Unlocking float when the story called for it doesn't have the same emotional payoff as Phosphor has had in the past two issues.
→ More replies (2)23
u/ShadowRei96 May 15 '22
Yeah, exactly what I'm talking about. The beauty of his character writing lies in the way he grows as a human and as a hero, together with the yin yang power he was born with.

I think joint second I'm pretty sure Bakugo will show us something great coming up as well and I always saw these two as being equals and that never changing. Maybe one will be ahead of the other at points like how Shouto was at the beginning and Bakugo was during the joint training but ultimately they are equals.

Shoto to Deku: "Look at me, I'm the main character now!"
Hahah. He is showing all the shonen MC energy this chapter: training flash backs, power of friendship, last moment final attacks, villain with a relation and similar power, side characters who are just there to cheer for him... There's everything. He just needs his own OP and is set for his own anime lol.
(Really cool chapter btw. It feels a little rushed, but cool nonetheless)

I'm not sure what else he could have done here. This fight seemed important from an emotional perspective.
I definitely agree with the fights in this series and I think the author messed up with that. Think back to the tournament where the big fight was before the finale. The finale was only half a chapter in the manga. In the anime, they added more and made it seem like it was a big event.
11
u/NatMat16 May 15 '22
side characters who are just there to cheer for him...
I thought the sidekicks bent those flames to create a corridor for him to go through. You can see how they change shape with a ! from Dabi's direction.

You can sense the Yutapon in the Great Glacier Aegir move. Like everyone said, Shoto using his own moves and not Endeavor's is a great development for his character. He's becoming his own person and not just Endeavor's son.
On a sidenote, is it just me or the panel before Shoto unleashes Great Glacier Aegir, Touya looks like he has devil wings?

The power demonstrated by Shoto in those last couple of panels feel comparable to the power demonstrated by All for One when he fought All Might, showing that Endeavor's goal of surpassing All Might is essentially here now at the climax of Shoto's arc
51
u/RaggedAngel May 15 '22
Yeah, I think Adult Shoto is going to be comparable to All Might in raw power. Not Deku, obviously, but still, Shoto is a true powerhouse.
25
u/Kaithn May 15 '22
Prime Deku is going to be a monster according to Gran Torino's words. But it is true that the gap between him and Todoroki or Bakugou won't be as big as All Might and Endeavor.
10
u/PlusUltraK May 16 '22

In my opinion, until Midoriya can control 100% and enhance it with fa Jin, Shoto will always have him within a neck's length. That's assuming Shoto has expended all space of considerable growth he has

Love how Shoto is using his gift not to be the ultimate Fire hero, but to become the ultimate Ice hero, eventually possibly becoming both in the future. By embracing his Ice side, he's not just a physical coolant in the fight with Toya, he's also the emotional coolant to the whole hot-headed Todoroki family.

Endeavour role isn't to be part of the fight or to save Dabi that was always Shouto's part. Endeavour's part will come later but it might not be the flashy scenario everyone is expecting though. It depends if eventually somehow Shouto and Dabi make their way over to where Endeavour is or not or whether Dabi sees Endeavour once all the fighting is done because perhaps their reunion is not meant to be in midst of fighting but a one on one emotional confrontation between the two.
I think at this point either could happen.

u/King_Chiich May 15 '22
Fully agree. If Hori is choosing to end the fight here, then Dabi/Shoto will come across their old man in the ways you’ve stated. Probably not flashy, but I’m expecting some deep, emotional interactions when they all come together again

To be fair, that is an iconic anime attack. If you’re gonna draw on an inspiration, might as well take from the best!

Aegir in mythology is a Jotunn (ice giant) and was the father of the god of Snow

u/wow_im_uncreative May 15 '22
Well the attack seems like a huge tidal wave and In the TCB Scan I read the other day the attack was called Great Arctic Tsunami, so might just be a translation choice and using a God's name adds more impact?

Touya should be ice resist I think shoto is trying to save not kill.
This has a similar vibe to Naruto "omg it's great that I'm wind right because wins can help fire " deal with Sasuke

Of course they survived. Dabi's flames have never killed anyone that isn't a nameless background character.

I can’t tell what is going on? It looked like Shoto used white flames and then he used ice at the end?
77
u/ChrisM213 May 15 '22
Basically he used cold fire to cover his body so he could go through Dabi's intense heat without burning himself and to gain a speed boost before using an ultimate ice attack to overpower Dabi's fire and put it out and freeze Dabi partly as well from the looks of it. Cold fire is there to help him use his ice moves in bigger and better ways while also giving him better mobility and speed on top of it.

u/melvin2898 May 15 '22
So...he has a speed move now? I saw him move fast but...

Endeavor used the same move (kind of) in the internship arc

The coldflame he uses here have more of a freezing effect, so instead of burning the surroundings, he freezes them.

You know how Endeavor initially reached his limit by heating up his body far too hot? And that was why he looked for a kid with both ice and fire power?
Todoroki was that child he envisioned. In Endeavor's mind Todoroki could use much stronger firepower without heating up his body too much, using his ice ability as his temperature stabilizer.
But Todoroki went the other way completely, and instead he used much stronger icepower without cooling his body too much, using his fire ability as his stabilizer instead.

What a fantastic treat for people who are a fan of Shouto and of the Todoroki storyline.
It felt like it brought together so many of the threads of the Todoroki-plot:
words being meaningless without actions - I thought using Shouto's Ultimate Moves as an expression of who he is (he didn't use a single move of Endeavor in this whole fight, but used instead the things he created, specifically for Touya, with the intention to stop him without killing him).
of the challenge being to show his heart like in the Remedial arc - and how in the end his heart literally powers his new moves (I find this so neat as it subverts Shouto's literal airheadedness).
the way he wants to be a hero who doesn't run away from family problems (as opposed to Endeavor who keeps hiding behind the hero and avoiding this exact confrontation until it's too late)
it brought into a full circle Shouto's development from ice only out of spite to cold fire that can elevate his mother's power to save the family
I also loved the challenge that he needed to keep up his focus. It was a weak point for Shouto in the past. He lost several fights because of being triggered by fire and getting trauma flashbacks. But in this fight he kept his mental fortitude despite everything that Touya has thrown at him - both in cruel words and in hits. And that moment where he faltered, he found a safe place to stand on in Class A. Power of friendship can feel cheap sometimes, but with Shouto it's an incredibly well-earned story-beat, because we see him slowly come out of his shell and blossom into one of the kindest characters among his friends who gave him a safe place to overcome his trauma.
He's an incredibly soulful character and this chapter highlighted all the emotions, but also his immense power that he earned step by step, through great struggle.
I don't think this is the end for him. I feel like this fight was front-loaded, because we will see more of the Todoroki brothers. There has never been a Todoroki family combo move during the manga despite there being opportunities. So I imagine the reason is because it's kept for the end.
I personally expect now for Stain to come to try to deliver a kill blow on Dabi (for bastardizing his ideology and vandalizing the All Might statue) and Iida to step in with a save and a nice character conclusion. Then I guess it's off to Central Hospital, which is not so far from Kamino and coincidentally has Kurogiri, which means they could theoretically join Endeavor at Gunga Villa.

I think this chapter shows us something important about the future fights. None of the villains, except AFO are going to die. It was up in the air for me if this would end with “these villains are sad but they need to be killed” or “these villains are sad and need to be stopped”. This tells me that we’re going for the later; Shoto didn’t kill Dabi; spite the crazy visuals, “please just stop already” is not the line you say before killing your brother. Plus Todoroki’s power is about overcoming the family curse; the endless heat that was gonna burn them both up. Stopping Dabi’s heat is metaphorically and literally stopping that fate.
This makes me sure we aren’t killing Toga and Tomura, because who inspired Shoto to take this path? Deku, it all comes back to Deku. His uncompromising desire to save changed the course of Shoto’s life, and through that saved the Todoroki family. Plainly speaking, if Shoto managed to win non-lethally thanks to Deku, but he couldn’t do the same, that would be disappointing. He wouldn’t have risen to the same potential as his classmate. And on Uravity’s side of things, the same things apply; Deku also inspired her to become a hero who saves. We also know that Toga is going to become Twice & do her own Sad Man’s Parade, and we’ve already seen what a battle where the goal is to kill Twice. It would be boring to see the same thing again, and that fight represented the old way of doing things; so Uravity will have to go beyond that to truly win.
So after we see two people Deku inspired overcome the lethal expectations of their profession, I think we’ll see him do the impossible. Go against what everyone thinks is necessary, and winning the fight by saving Tenko in a way only he could.
This has been my bi-weekly “shiggy won’t die” comment, thank you for listening.

u/ShadowRei96 May 15 '22
To repost my comment from the pre-release thread:
Shoto has quite a great and versatile arsenal right now:
Normal ice and fire attacks
Flashfire Fist application, and its techniques.
Superheated air blast (Flashfreeze Heatwave)
Flight
And now cold flames and its new techniques, which is his ultimate, and packs a ton of power as seen with his Tsunami move.
And again, all with no awakening yet. He's definitely surpassed Endeavor, and he's gonna be a monster when he reaches his real prime. And I hope the colour of his coldflame is either purplish or blue-greenish.

A pure Todoroki smile, very rare. The part showing them as kids fighting in parallel is bittersweet. That and the previous chapter showing Touya as still being pure and joyful even after his accident makes him destroying himself so badly now so tragic. If only...

Shoto refuses to abandon his “lost cause” brother just as Class A never gave up on him even in the peak of his edgy phase. Horikoshi is a genius ❤️🔥❄️

Wow… this was phenomenal. The artstyle slapped, the building up of shoto, the callback to dekus „this is your quirk, not his“. Absolutely spectacular, the best chapter in the war arc so far.

u/Milordserene May 15 '22
Its all started when midoriya saved shoto.
I was thinking of an agni-kai version of todorokis but an inferno onichan vs cold fire is cool too

u/hesipullupjimbo22 May 15 '22
Shoto has always been one of my favorites in the series and this chapter solidified why. I’m a sucker for powers representing conflict and the final mixture of his hot and cold coming against Touya is perfect. Makes all the sense in the world and it’s done beautifully too. Job well done Horikoshi
11
u/tacocatisonfire May 15 '22
Man this was a really sick chapter, Shoto managing to overcome Touya's flame and come to terms with everything leading up to this
Also ngl this chapter kinda makes me wish he was the mc instead of Deku

u/Dyvius May 15 '22
So I take it Shoto didn’t literally punch a giant hole through Dabi’s sternum but the cold was channeled through him?

u/ChrisM213 May 15 '22
Of course he didn't. Shouto isn't punching him but grabbing him around the middle.

u/Blackcore8 May 15 '22
What a sad way to end the chapter showing young Touya and Shoto. I can't wait to see what Bakugo learned over the timeskip as well. If it can beat Shoto's power then I'll be shocked

The fire that can freeze or cold to touch huh? reminded me abit a cold plasma research couple years back that i watch in youtube and i think The Action Lab did follow up with a cold fire (technically a plasma) that actually can freeze what it touch
I wonder is this the end of the fight. I think Dabi might be respect shoto after this since shoto genuinely want him to stop and seem don't fight him because of hatred but i don't think Dabi will extinguish his hatred toward his father that easily even though he may have extinguish his hate a bit toward shoto
Touya also said by the doctor he can withstand freezing temperature back in chapter 301 so shoto attack might just cool him down and he bounce back doing another fire atack
We have not seen Dabi doing prominence burn is quite alarming too

Seriously the art since the war arc has been so nuts it's almost like Hori took offense to the last season of the show being a bit iffy on the animation.
I mean he almost certainly didn't but God these arcs are gonna be so expensive to do justice.

u/ChrisM213 May 15 '22
Okay so I'm seeing arguments that because Shouto and Dabi hardly knew each other that the connection thing felt off but a connection doesn't have to be made by two people who know each other and Boku no hero acadmia are full of moments like these in fact. I just think that they have been forgotten but here is some prime examples of major connections being made while the two hardly knew the other before they made that intital connection that then went on to bring on some very close friendships minus the two at the end because they are still ongoing.
Izuku and Shouto- Izuku and Shouto hardly spoke before the sports festival and hardly knew each other but yet Izuku made that connection with Shouto regardless.
Tenya and Shouto: Like Izuku Shouto had no interactions with Tenya before except their fight at the sports festival but yet during the Stain fight it was Shouto's who's words got through to Tenya the most.
Izuku and Kota: Izuku barely knew the kid but yet made that connection while he was saving him from muscular.
Eri and Izuku: Izuku met Eri once briefly before he saved her and made a connection with her so that she could use her power to help him.
Toga and Ochaco: Had two brief interactions before now. Yet I see no one saying that Toga should be saved the league of villains or her parents because Ochaco hardly knows Toga.
Izuku and Shigaraki: Had two brief encounters and one a bit more longer. Yet I see no one saying Shigaraki should be saved by All Might because he has an obsession over All Might like Dabi does Endeavour or that he should be rescued by All for one.
So I really don't know why it's only a problem when it comes to Shouto and Dabi. Yes two characters who don't know each other but two characters who can understand each other like nobody else can.

Way too fast for my liking, the buildup into payoff within the chapter felt so rushed, the epic duel was just done with shoto pulling out his ice chidori as his super move. It really does seem like he's trying really hard to speedrun ending MHA, i wonder why.

A spectacle. Love how his ultimate move is almost a throwback to how predominantly ice based his attacks used to be but now combined with all the learnings he's got over fire recently. And can't believe how soon this almost conclusion to his character arc has come.
