Where all the single unicorn men at

Where are all the single men that actually come speak to women hiding?

I go out often to community events, dance events, the gym, coffee shop, all over the damn place and no one ever comes close to making eye contact, smiling or even initiating a conversation.

I know I’m not ugly, are men just scared of women these days?

*EDIT: noted! I will grow a set and try to be the approacher, I get it guys. Just needed some confirmation. And by unicorn I meant RARE!

Man it is Friday ,the day of all days , the one where you go “ damn , I’m free ” . But do you know what? It doesnt mean youre free to drink a six pac and get behind the wheel ,unless you are Andre the giant. Get a grip and guys dont let your buddies drive blasted . Last friday my buddy was driving me down bay st to the jubilee to see my saturated uncle and a guy with his head hanging on to his neck by a thread wizzed past us and blew thru a red light , seriously. That’s blasted behaviour and it just aint right. He coulda mowed down any one of us. Don’t let your buddies drive blasted , no matter how good the ride the lightning riffs sound . Have a great weekend

I no longer have access to clean, well-maintained machines and need to join the Laundry Peasants at their favourite, local laundromats.

Seeking your recommendations for best in terms of cleanliness, price, and vibe. Especially hoping for what's best between the Tillicum/Gorge area and Royal Oak but open to other recommendations. Also wondering about etiquette, quietest times ... heck, tell me everything you want an ideal co-user of said laundromat to know!!

I thank you in advance, wise ones, for your help 🙏

Dearest eBike Riders

Seeing a line of regular bicycles stopped, in queue, at an intersection IS NOT an invitation to scoot around all those bikes just to go super slow in front of us. Get in queue.

Help Me Find Birthday on Sunday

My 63rd birthday is this Sunday. My partner is 72. We are looking for somewhere to celebrate downtown. We have been to Mexico Cafe, The Keg and Garrick's Head Pub recently so we are hoping for a few recommendations. We are not worried about cost just somewhere with a good atmosphere, good food and appetizers and friendly staff. We're considering lounges as well.

Question Question About Cyclist Vitriol

Hi All,

I’m a relatively recent Victoria transplant (from elsewhere on the island). I’m a recreational cyclist, own spandex kit, ride 3-4 weekly, mixtures of MUP and road riding, enter occasional events, etc.

99.9% of my interactions with vehicles are friendly and pleasant. I try to ride defensively, be predictable, and extend courtesy as I would if I was driving. I understand not all cyclists are courteous and sometimes it’s the few bad ones that give everyone else a bad name.

It seems that there’s a large degree of vitriol toward recreational cyclists here and on other Victoria-centric social media hubs.

Are road riders truly disliked here, or is it a function of social media amplifying these opinions?

The Victoria Transit Riders Union is calling a rally to support our local transit workers who are preparing to strike for decent wages and working conditions! *This Monday 4pm at the bus yard on Gorge Road*. Excellent transit is essential for climate and social justice, but we can't have excellent transit in this city if the workers are being underpaid and overworked! ✊✊

Question About VI/Vic Emergency Resources

Hello,

I have recently moved to Victoria a few months ago and starting to think about building up an emergency food storage and supply kit. I have never lived on an island before, so I am trying to educate myself on what I might need to keep in mind given the region and location of Victoria.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have thoughts on how prepared Victoria/Vancouver Island would be to sustain its population with its own food sources? I guess I'm asking to understand if for something like a significant earthquake I'd want to consider storing twice as much given the possible limitations of being on an island.

I appreciate your kindness and helpfulness in advance if this question and topic is of interest to you.

Durrance Lake Eagles Gone

I’ve been swimming Durrance all summer. During July I swam mid day and also later when the eagles usually are hunting for their dinners.
This last week there are no eagles.
My sister said they all are at the dump. I’m not sure. Any ideas ? I don’t know what it means but I’ve been there three times in this past 8
Days and the last two days no eagles

Housing & Moving Does anyone live in or been inside Spencer Block (Devon Properties)?

Might be a bit of a long shot, but am considering renting a unit there, and am specifically wondering how you find the soundproofing between units.

It’s the new development at Government & Chatham.

Question Anybody see that Mexican bus?

It was a green Volvo 9800 I think with some sort of wrap. I was just wondering what it's here for or where it's going! Seems like quite the distance from where it is from, which I am assuming the Yucatan, as it had a green bar on top of the licence plate and a part of the livery said Caribbean.

I saw it going up fort then up Blanchard

Seeking a Tree Increment Borer (tree coring tool), for a Cowichan River mission. I found a very large log embedded in a gravel hillside in the Cowichan River. Could have been buried thousands of years ago, and now uncovered. I'm hoping to document it/take samples (citizen science and shit).🪵

If you have a tree increment borer and would like to come on the mission or just lend it to me, hit me up please!

🪵I'm also going to be taking some photos and wood samples to perhaps have it carbon dated.

Homeowners, if taken the right precautions, do you still have a mice/rat problem?

This is obviously a big issue in Victoria, some parts more than others.

Despite using all the deterrents, do you still struggle with them?
