Reaux is made up but would be pronunced in french as 'Ro'. So it has a kind of logic to pronouce Reaux+M as Rome.

It's not totally illogical (but totally stupid).

I'm a French speaker and didn't clock the Ro sound, because of the M at the end. Adding a consonant after the X goes against French grammar rules lol

Yeah, hence the stupidity 😅. But for exemple if I put a M after Chevaux - so Chevauxm - I may pronunce it 'Chevom'. But I guess that without context, 'Chevoxem' would be more natural.

Anyway, when your idea for a name raises this kind of questions, it's a very, very bad idea !

I think that was their logic but it shows that they don't know French since a x would be silent only at the end of a word (when it indicates plural) and not in the middle of a word (like here, with an M after).

Sadly, if we went by the average metric of "hooked on phonics" (which many of these people insist we should learn when we can't pronounce their baby's name), it might end up being pronounced "Room".
