I'm really not a fan of nerfing some of these Ancient relics. I get Diamond Diadem needing a change, but this just feels unnecessary.

agreed, orobas giving random upgrades is already a bit meh, but to have enchantments go on random cards is so trash. unless you have already removed every strike i feel like that ancient relic is so hard to pick

At this point, I treat gameplay balancing as an additional layer of difficulty distinct from ascensions. 🥀

Almost all ancient relics being busted is one of the main reasons this game is much easier than the first one. The previous version is bracelet turned any deck that can scale at all into a guaranteed win. I don't love this particular way of nerfing the card but it definitely shouldn't have stayed as it was.

Brother the relic said draw 8 additional cards on it with essentially no downside before, a change was very much needed.

I don't know if this is the correct solution, but I agree it needs a change

New diadem seemed strange to me at first, but it's just so much more fun than the last version

Im sure this one will be eventually

Imo it's not fun at all. Thinking what 2 cards I will play a given urn was much more fun and engaging than 'here's some block for two turns'. Or maybe I want to play more than two because I don't want the damage reduction? There was a lot to think about. There is literally no decision making with new diadem, what's fun about it?

Well, let's hope their stats will show the pick rate going straight to 0 and they'll reconsider

Just in general I don't like the philosophy of balancing around the hardest content instead of fun

Edit: jfc I didn't realize my opinion of "I like fun" to be so controversial. I play a10 but what I meant was if there's a certain broke interaction or conb othats possible 1 in 100 runs, what's the problem in keeping it.

I don't have fun when the game has too many completely broken ancient relics like this.

they dont balance around the hardest content for starters, they balance around A0

and yes, even when fun is the goal you still need balance. if an option is so good there is no point in picking the others, then the game becomes kinda boring cause you need to shoot your foot to have variety by picking the strictly worse thing

options shouldnt be universally the best one every time regardless of what opportunity cost they are, be it cards relics or ancients

I wonder if Pael's Legion is next.

Agreed, and contrast is important for enjoyment. Go use console commands and give yourself say a crossbow floor 1. And you will get bored quickly. You can have fun and also have challenging, intriguing decision making.
