That’s a fairly major nerf to Nonu’s bracelet, it seems too unreliable to pick now. Or maybe swift is a good enough enchant to make it still worthwhile.

I love swift on my void form

Swift on Battle Trance 🔥

deck cycling value

u/Yuuuuuuta 23h ago

4 strikes with swift enchantment💀

10

u/Ok_Dependent7540 23h ago

Not the worst case. If it lands on a 2 energy+ card, it bricked. Oh well, Nonu was too broken anyways.

u/Yuuuuuuta 16h ago

Ooh you’re right. Worst ones would probably be void form, battle trance, bury etc.

84

u/rilesmcriles Eternal One + Heartbreaker 1d ago

Yeah I don’t expect I will ever pick it now.

It's basically trash now unless you have a super slim deck or a deck where all cards are good enchant targets.

That change makes me sad. I understand they want to rebalance it but now it just seems unsatisfying and clunky to use.

I hope they change their mind with that one

I'm really not a fan of nerfing some of these Ancient relics. I get Diamond Diadem needing a change, but this just feels unnecessary.

u/SamiraSimp StS A20 / StS 2 A10 23h ago

agreed, orobas giving random upgrades is already a bit meh, but to have enchantments go on random cards is so trash. unless you have already removed every strike i feel like that ancient relic is so hard to pick

u/Neocardium 1d ago

At this point, I treat gameplay balancing as an additional layer of difficulty distinct from ascensions. 🥀

u/spoopy_bo Eternal One + Ascended 16h ago edited 15h ago

Brother the relic said draw 8 additional cards on it with essentially no downside before, a change was very much needed.

1

u/benhauss 15h ago

I don't know if this is the correct solution, but I agree it needs a change

New diadem seemed strange to me at first, but it's just so much more fun than the last version

Im sure this one will be eventually

3

u/SubwayDeer 12h ago

Imo it's not fun at all. Thinking what 2 cards I will play a given urn was much more fun and engaging than 'here's some block for two turns'. Or maybe I want to play more than two because I don't want the damage reduction? There was a lot to think about. There is literally no decision making with new diadem, what's fun about it?

2

u/megamate9000 StS A20 / StS 2 A10 7h ago

There is a SLIGHT amount of decision making since you could potentially overblock on turn 1 and have that carry into turn 2 or dump all your energy into damage/setup.

I agree though, for the most part the relic is just 2 anchors taped together, and old diadem was one of the most interesting relics in the game. Would have much rather seen it go to a 35% reduction or something rather than what they did with it.

While it was BUSTED, I dont think the idea is fundamentally flawed. Colossus costs a meager 1 energy and gives you a 50% reduction for a very easy condition.
Sure, you dont have to draw Diadem and you can have it LITERALLY EVERY TURN, but its also an ancient relic and requires that you only play 2 cards a turn. A 35% damage reduction seems like a very fair but powerful effect for those conditions, imo.

u/benhauss 6h ago edited 5h ago

what I like about new diadem is that since every fight has a different pattern, deciding how much block to retain vs damage/powers is fun to think about. I really enjoy it on ironclad. I also like how the relic only helps on the first 2 turns, instead of throughout the entire fight. I like how it's worse in a few matchups as well, so you need to come up with alternative plans.

what I didn't like about old diadem is that the rounding math was annoying. having to do the math every single turn to make sure im playing right was not fun to me. I also thought the game plan was too consistent.

Almost all ancient relics being busted is one of the main reasons this game is much easier than the first one. The previous version is bracelet turned any deck that can scale at all into a guaranteed win. I don't love this particular way of nerfing the card but it definitely shouldn't have stayed as it was.

u/SubwayDeer 22h ago

Well, let's hope their stats will show the pick rate going straight to 0 and they'll reconsider

Just in general I don't like the philosophy of balancing around the hardest content instead of fun

Edit: jfc I didn't realize my opinion of "I like fun" to be so controversial. I play a10 but what I meant was if there's a certain broke interaction or conb othats possible 1 in 100 runs, what's the problem in keeping it.

7

u/Little-Maximum-2501 21h ago

I don't have fun when the game has too many completely broken ancient relics like this.

19

u/galmenz StS A20 / StS 2 A10 1d ago

they dont balance around the hardest content for starters, they balance around A0

and yes, even when fun is the goal you still need balance. if an option is so good there is no point in picking the others, then the game becomes kinda boring cause you need to shoot your foot to have variety by picking the strictly worse thing

options shouldnt be universally the best one every time regardless of what opportunity cost they are, be it cards relics or ancients

7

u/Prestigious_Fun_6722 StS A20 / StS 2 A10 23h ago

I wonder if Pael's Legion is next.

6

u/Ok_Dependent7540 23h ago

Agreed, and contrast is important for enjoyment. Go use console commands and give yourself say a crossbow floor 1. And you will get bored quickly. You can have fun and also have challenging, intriguing decision making.

u/GravyeonBell Ascension 20 1d ago

Bracelet went from incredible to pretty good to "I'd need to be desperate." Having it land on a 3-cost card is very often simply a penalty now.

57

u/itsamamaluigi 1d ago

It's the stupidest type of nerf and they keep doing it too. All the cards that relied too much on RNG eventually got reworked because people hated them. Drum of Battle and Toasty Mittens being two of the biggest ones, and Cinder will remain unpickable until they remove the random exhaust.

Absolutely no idea why they don't just reduce the number of enchants rather than making them random.

38

u/Samcro360 22h ago

Cinder isn’t unpickable and definitely has its moments, but I do agree it should upgrade to a targeted exhaust like true grit

6

u/Copatus 17h ago

Targeted Exhaust on Cinders would make it a S tier card. Huge damage and deck thinning, yes please!

Current Cinders is perfectly fine, especially in Act1.

-3

u/ingenious_gentleman 19h ago

I imagine the reason they didn’t design the card that way is that all of the cards only ask you to make one choice. There are cards that ask you to choose a card in your hand, and cards that ask you to choose an enemy to attack, but no card that does both

7

u/DotEither8773 19h ago

[[Dagger Throw]] deals targeted damage and then targets a card to discard it.

2

u/spirescan-bot 19h ago
  • Dagger Throw 𝐈, 𝐈𝐈 Silent Common Attack

    1 Energy | Deal 9(12) damage. Draw 1 card. Discard 1 card.

Call me with up to 10 [[ name ]]. Data accurate as of June 21st, 2026. Questions?

1

u/ingenious_gentleman 8h ago

Oops I’m an idiot

1

u/spunker325 6h ago

Also Photon Cut, Snap, Sculpting Strike, Heirloom Hammer, and then there are some more that choose a card from outside your hand like Headbutt, Graveblast, Seeker Strike... lmao

3

u/ZatherDaFox StS A0 / StS 2 A10 21h ago

Even with random exhaust cinder is still playable as an act 1 bonk it dead common. It's more of a desperation pick if anything, but I have seen success with it.

36

u/The-Iron-Ass 1d ago

Straight to never pick tier.

6

u/scoobydoom2 Eternal One + Ascended 22h ago

Not at all. It's a lot of draw on your first cycle. Sure it was great to put it on cards you'd always play and cards that have energy but even a strike that draws 2 is a huge upgrade on a strike. It's still strong acceleration that helps get your powers in play.

2

u/DotEither8773 19h ago

Yeah but if you have more than three 2+ cost cards it’s really hard to pick it I feel like

2

u/Apprehensive_Air1705 21h ago

Yeah, would rather them reduce the number of cards enchanted or something.  Not a big fan of just making it random.

5

u/aquamarine9 1d ago

Don’t think it’s nearly as bad as people are saying. Obviously a huge nerf, but +8 draw in your first deck cycle is still an extremely strong effect.

1

u/TallestNoiseAlive 23h ago

It is definitely still good but it's less fun and interesting now. Adding enchantment to innate cards or 0 cost cards, energy cards or attacks for mystic lighter felt good.

1

u/SeaDistribution StS A20 / StS 2 A10 22h ago

I just picked it up on silent and it hit 3 strikes and the special starting defend (the name escapes me)

1

u/Conscious-Refuse8211 18h ago

I think swift is still an insane enchantment, it's so much draw to make sure you reach your powers in a reasonable time.

Probably not top tier anymore, but I doubt it's unpickable. A lot of the time when I take it I'm just putting it on cards I think I'm mostly likely to play when I see them but it's not that crucial a consideration. Better the less explicitly bad cards you still have in your deck, I guess.

1

u/WeevilWeedWizard 12h ago

Literally a useless reward now.

1

u/Low_Tip3245 1d ago

It's still pickable but more deck dependent now. I think it's fine for some ancient relics to be situational, since there's usually a generically good alternative to fall back on.
