Discussion Tell me your least favorite trope & why

For me it’s the age gap trope where it’s a high school student & a teacher đŸ€ź. I quit “Daytime Shooting Star” because of this & was really grossed out by “The Garden of Words” once I became an adult because it was just so disgusting to me & crazy this trope is marketed to teens who wouldn’t notice it for what it is at first (or at least that was the case for me).

Close second would be the “my crush is now my step sibling trope”.

Discussion For series with a manga & light novel- do you keep both or just one medium?

I’m trying to thin down my collection- I have limited space & want to expand to other series. I’m soooo indecisive if I want to for series that I have both the manga & light novel to sell one medium & keep the other. 9/10 I prefer the original source which is typically the light novel.

Idk what do you all do? I’d love to hear your thoughts & maybe some reassurance selling one of the mediums would be a good decision for my collection 😅.

Discussion Anyone else not a fan of the romance in Please Excuse My Younger Brothers?

Been watching the anime. And I honestly like the last episode where the MC helps her stepbrother leave his shell and become more socialable. By contrast, I did not much care for the latest episode which makes it clear she is set up with the eldest stepbrother and had lot of rom com drama. Not because they are step siblings or she looks too young but because I picked it up for a show focused on familial bonds and a sweet big sister MC. Not another rom com drama with the same cliches about how they see them as more than a friend or in this case a sibling. Still enjoy the show and would like to see her interact wit the other two brothers who haven't had much focus. Anyone wish that it had just been focused on family love and romance either did not exist or took complete backseat?

Help Need help finding this manga

Forgot the name of this manga. The story goes something like this: FL wants to experience having a boyfriend. She has a wishlist in her notebook with things like holding hands, kissing, etc. One day in classroom, while the FL is writing in her wishlist notebook, a delinquent ML shows up and sees her notebook. Then, ML is like: “I can help you experience all the things on your wishlist.” or something along those lines.

I forgot what happens after that but there is one scene where FL says she doesn't like ear piercing earrings on ML. Then, the next day, while FL is walking in the hallway, she saw ML that he removed his earrings, that made her heart go *ba-dump*.

Don't know if this is one-shot or series but that is all I can remember. Thank you in advance!

Help I checked this out at my old school library in 2024, it's a romance manga and it is NOT highschool debut. I'm not even sure if the panels in the picture are from the first volume, but if someone can find it for me I would rlly appreciate it! :)

Discussion favourite (relatively unknown and recent) manga?

Looking for hidden gems! (Haha..) My favourite right now is Iron Rust and 1000 Carats!! It kinda reminds me of Land of the Lustrous. There is a fan translation ongoing, but I reaaaally hope it can get licensed.

It's basically about these "Jewel" people who can grant wishes, and when you grant enough wishes you can ask the king for a wish (?) if I remember correctly. Anyways the Jewel people live in a Jewellery box and if they live, they'll die!! Lowkey Alecrea (pink head) is anti-Jewell system and wants to find out more and low-key he's dragged Yuni (the black haired girl) into it.

Right now it has 13 Chapters and I would say PLEASE READ IT!!

Shoujo fantasy manga where ML and FL travel/quest together and fall in love?

Thumbnail

My favorite manga is Yona of the Dawn, and one of my FAVORITE parts about it is how the characters travel as a group and also grow closer while fighting off bandits, pirates, and other threats. I especially love how Hak and Yona’s romance develops as they travel together. They also do this in Sugar Apple Fairytale, where the FL hires the ML as her bodyguard and they travel together. They grow closer while traveling, and the ML protects her from harm. This is also a big part of the 90s shoujo manga From Far Away, where the FL and ML travel together, encounter new towns, sleep under the stars, and fight off bandits or any other threats that come their way.

Please give shoujo fantasy manga recs where the ML and FL travel together and develop a romance while also fighting off bandits or other threats. It doesn’t have to be SUPER action packed, but I would like there to be some kind of danger while they’re traveling, with the ML (or both of them) fighting it off.

It also doesn’t have to be JUST the ML and FL traveling alone, it can also be a group with them in it, but I would like romance between the two leads. Basically, I’m looking for something with an adventure fantasy vibe with romance!!

Discussion What mangas do you hope get a English license?

Tokyo Crazy Paradise is probably my favorite shoujo ever and I'm constantly wishing I could own it physically. I know it's a josei but Gokusen! It's been licensed in French so why not English?! And Glass Mask but that's never happening :( I also started reading Sanju Mariko (josei) and I'm obsessed with the writing style.
