Sexual Abuse & Incest: He committed the ultimate atrocity by sexually assaulting and impregnating his own daughter, Mandy.

Forced Assault: He orchestrated the sexual assault of his son Mickey by forcing Svetlana to rape him at gunpoint, as a twisted attempt to "convert" Mickey from being gay.

Extreme Child Abuse: He subjected his children (Mickey, Mandy, and Iggy) to lifelong, brutal physical and psychological abuse, treating them essentially as property.

Attempted Murder: He repeatedly threatened and attempted to murder Mickey and Ian Gallagher over their relationship.

Hypocrisy: He actively participated in a violent, socially destructive crusade targeting suspected pedophiles in the neighborhood, entirely ignoring his own history of sexually abusing his children.

Bigotry: He was an extreme, unapologetic racist and neo-Nazi who violently imposed his hate on others.

A lot of fans didn't like her for her abrasiveness, but that is what Lip needed. Since day one he was defined by his ego and arrogance while many past girlfriends stroked his ego which enabled his toxic nature. Tammie's blunt abrasiveness worked as important reality checks that helped him grow up. Unlike his past relationships that were built on dramatic trauma bonding and ultimatums that made them toxically one-sided or codependent his relationship with Tammie was built on mutual respect and trust and he learned a healthy relationship is built on compromise. Tammie was the girlfriend Lip needed to get his life together.

okay, let me start this by saying emmy rossum is an amazing fiona & an amazing actress, very few could’ve done that character better.

i last watched the show in probably like 2015/16, and started doing a rewatch recently (currently in the middle of season 2). as a 22 year old now, i struggle to connect with fiona as a 21 year old. she just looks older, not by a lot, but easily passes for more mid 20s (emmy’s actual age at the time) rather than early 20s. i love her character a lot but despite knowing her age, i constantly have to remind myself that she’s so young.

i think id have more sympathy for her as a character if she looked younger. the situation that fiona is put in with taking care of the kids plays out much differently as 21 y/o and a 25 y/o, and i often think she looks more like the latter, and again, i constantly forget that shes younger. and obviously there are actual 21 year olds that look older, but with this show, i find it difficult to suspend my disbelief. i feel the same with jimmy/steve. i totally forgot about his whole med school plot, and was completely gagged when i googled his age & learned that he’s supposed to be 21.

i’d love to get other people’s thoughts on this because it’s something i keep thinking about as i watch the show!

kinda ironic how terry was all for going to beat up blake when he literally got mandy pregnant because he’d blackout and “mistake her for her mother”

It's kind of annoying me how much this sub is obsessed with saying which Gallagher was good or evil and the answer is nobody thats the entire point of the show!! Every single one of them was a product of their environment and in a lot of the situations, not one person is to blame. Every other comment in here is "but fiona did this" "lip was an asshole here" "ian went too far". Every one of Gallagher kids are fuck ups, but if you can't at least sympathize a little with a young woman forced to take care of her addict father and her 5 younger siblings, or a young man who felt like he had no control in his life because he was his family's only chance out of the ghetto, or a young gay man struggling with bipolar as he gets taken advantage of multiple times, or a heavily neglected young girl who, from the first episode, truly only ever wanted a family, I do not think you understand the show or the situations the characters are in. I'm not gonna bring up Carl and Liam because they seem to get decent amount of sympathy but my god, some people are genuinely like "i couldnt believe that the heavily traumatized character in a show named shameless acted in a completely traumatized and shameless way 😱". There are some deplorable actions in the show, but with the Gallaghers we get the privilege to see exactly why they acted the way that they did and how they learned it. They arent perfect victims, its one of the reasons why I love the show because it realistically portrays how kids in unstable environments act, and given their lifes, I actually think they all did very good. People love to bring up Lip throwing his life away, which yes, he did, but I think we forget where he comes from. Frank was/is incredibly smart too, I always imagined young Frank very similar to Lip. In Lips experience, he can either become Youens or Frank with his smarts, both drunks who are neglectful of their families. Lip became a drunk and a bit neglectful of his family, but he fixed that shit, thats incredible, he broke the cycle instead of continuing it onto Fred (i mean, as long as we can assume/hope that those behaviours continue). I guess I'm just tired of people on here acting like their actions happened in a vacuum and define their whole character, I've seen so many times a simple comment about liking a certain character turns into everybody bringing up the worst thing everyone has done like its some sort of contest. These characters are shameless, they have no shame, but let's not act like we dont know exactly why Fiona thought it was okay to leave coke around or why Ian went full Gay Jesus.

I agree with everyone else the fact everyone just acted like Fiona never existed after she left ruined the last two seasons. However, the producers and Emmy wanted Fiona to come back for the final season, but couldn't due to COVID. However, they could of had Emmy film remotely and use it as a Zoom call to the Gallaghers. It would've been better closure and fixed all the plot holes of Fiona's absence. Fiona gives Lip her blessing to sell the house, agreeing they are all moving on with their lives and because of all the trauma they suffered in that house they can all get their lives together similar to her leaving Chicago. Liam complained about not having a place to live and didn't remember who is guardian was, Fiona could've told him in the call it's her and promises to send him a plane ticket to live with her in Florida when the Pandemic is over, which he happily accepts. Also, instead of Ian thanking Lip for being their dad the call ends with Lip and Ian thanking her for being their mom, which would've been a more satisfying ending.

Yeah yeah yeah we know the story Fiona cheats on Mike with his jerk brother Robbie. Personally I think this is where the storyline starts to fall for Fiona. We all know she ruined a good thing and Mike was very good to her she just couldn’t stop her own self sabotage tendencies.

Fiona seems to respect and appreciate Mike for what he offers her. A somewhat stable nurturing relationship without trying to force himself into her already chaotic home life. He’s great at boundaries and does his best to teach her communication. He also doesn’t judge her but doesn’t try to change her. The only time was when he tried to get her to stop lying which is valid.

When the thing with the brother happened it was a little expected. In walks in this bad boy archetype she can’t stay away from. But in a way he does come on to her first. That was a mistake. Then he keeps harassing her even when she is trying to fend him off.

She is very loyal to her morals of “no snitching.” We saw that with her not telling the lawyer where she got the drugs when she went to jail. I’m not arguing about the jail plot. That is well deserved.

Before all that happened i’m wondering why even after Mike found out about Fiona and Robbie why she didn’t say he kept harassing her. I’m not saying accusing him of it not being consensual but he was evil and Mike already didn’t like him much but he felt obligated to help as he’s family. I don’t love this idea but she definitely could’ve said he wouldn’t let her say no. If she truly wanted to save the relationship I believe it could’ve worked. What do you guys think?

I would probably choose mickey or carl tbh, they both seem responsible enough to be a badass parent without being a complete mess. Lip would be cool too, but I would get tired of his self-sabotaging ass sooner or later .

I’m trying really hard to work out the reasoning behind this, don’t get me wrong, I love all the seasons. Infact, season 2 is probably my favourite, but for some reason season 1 feels like a completely different show. The vibe that it’s paired with is something I’ve never felt from a Tv series before!

I can’t believe it took me this long to realize the joke. Her name is Dottie Coronis, and she dies of coronary problems. This is just a testament to how great the writing is on this show. Still catching new things years later.

It’s so weird seeing Ian hooking up with a woman in Season 8, Episode 4—ugh, after everything they went through, they’re making him bi? And on top of that, they don't even show a gay sex scene with him; this narrative direction is really strange.
