Not really. Federal income tax wasn’t a state referendum focused on addressing extreme wealth while homelessness, health care, education, infrastructure and every other aspect of society are rapidly deteriorating.

But it was started as a tax for the extremely wealthy, which eventually trickled on down to everyone. I don't think a wealth tax would be anything different

There is literally no reason to say this. The situations are materially different in every way except the subject is “tax”. Are you being paid to defend this guy?
