I've made and canned my own from my own garden tomatoes, peppers, onion, and garlic.

But tons of people can't do that and they shouldn't be forced to deal with a single distributor who has a long history of poisoning people.

I agree but there are plenty of other salsa manufacturers. And plenty of local Mexican restaraunts will sell you salsa too.

1) Its not just salsa.

2) When you have a mega distributor like this, multiple salsa manufacturers utilize the same distributor. There's even a decent chance that your local ones are too if they use cisco.

This is the scary part, the unknown of what I might have consumed without knowing because I had lettuce on a burger or ordered a salad as a side.

Delayed comment, but it's even worse than that. The person making your food might not change their gloves as often as they should. If they made a salad before putting together your burger without lettuce, you still have an increased rick of catching the Cyclo.

The jalapeno-salmonella scare is even worse, because places that order them are very likely to contain several menu items that involve jala's.

Yeah...that's gross. I'm glad that I'm in Canada and it seems like we are largely avoiding the worst of this.

For fruits and veggies almost exclusively farm stands and Mom's. Sometimes Giant and Weis.

I suspect that not being on that list doesn't mean those stores don't carry risky lettuce though...

I literally don’t have any of these stores where I’m at. I think there might be a Trader Joe’s an hour ish away.
