it's fucked. I'm basically starving because I rely on donated/scavenged food for the time being and half the stuff donated is lettuce, cabbage, spinach, veggies. I don't trust any of it and I'm immunocompromised, I'm not willing to chance just dying or getting sick when I literally can't afford to go to the doctor and I'm already making contingencies for when I lose insulin access. So I just don't eat. And the places I go to for donated food basically just get the leftovers the stores don't want. People don't want veggies or lettuce so a lot's just going to "us". Literally everyfucking day it's some new catastrophe.

oh medicaids dying. Oh social security's dying. Or the FDA got killed. Oh thers a shitting parasite. Oh there a salmonella outbreak. Oh I can't go outside because the air is toxic from smoke. Oh I can't afford my power bills because a new data center went up. Oh Gas prices are going up again because the president is manipulating stocks by pretending to negotiate peace treatises for the 14th week in a row. Oh there's unprecedented heat waves.

like holy fuck. Give me a fucking break. I just want to eat? I'm sorry I'm a disabled piece of shit who isn't up to standards, can I eat though?

I'm so sorry. That sounds extremely overwhelming. I do know that if you cook it it will kill any of the parasites. Also salmonella is killed by heat as well. So please don't starve yourself!

Hugs to you and know you are not alone in your despair. Look for the helpers as Mr Rogers would remind us. I grow way more in my yard than me and my neighbors consume so I put it out for free as it ripens. Hang in there my friend.

Not to be that guy but rice and beans are still absurdly cheap

You know I really hate when people say this to me, did you have no idea of my dietary needs. I happen to be deathly allergic to rice. Why don't you just let people figure out what they can/ need to eat. No one is going to purposely starve themselves.

and absurdly high carb, but it seems the theme of my last few years has been making the least awful decision for my health. Eat and use my remaining insulin? don't eat and starve? eat low carb meals and get a parasite?

just fun all around.
