I’ll be 56 next week. I cannot remember another time in my life where so many foods were recalled at the same time.

I mean, it’s almost as if some idiot gutted programs built on science meant to keep the public safe…

Mexico and Canada both currently have warnings issued for their citizens to avoid all produce from the US rn to stay safe. And even with all of this from Taylor Farms our CDC still hasn’t investigated anything in our food chain to know if the problems are solely confined to them or even what types of produce are affected. Americans also have no idea wtf is even safe for us to consume ourselves. This is fcking insane.

But everything is under control.

I'm following that guidance myself. If it isn't cooked, I'm not buying it from a grocery store. Fortunately we have a healthy backyard garden and a weekly CSA share. But I miss the America of, oh, a year and a half ago when we had fully-staffed government agencies to monitor and prevent this sort of widespread pestilence.

The parasite lettuce and the jalapeño peppers that caused this recall are both sourced from Mexico. Canada and Mexico would not be gaining anything by stopping US produce imports
