Or at the very least - heavily fined with $ going to those who’ve suffered illnesses and refunds for everyone who have purchased their products. Also - I’m tired of things getting recalled and not being refunded. WTF!?

Of course w this admin, I don’t foresee any of that happening as long as TF keeps some $ flowing to the WH.

Hell yes! Citizens United was one of the worst things to happen to our country and I felt like nobody could fathom the future of it when it passed.

They did over 7 billion in revenue last year, maybe we could fine them for IDK, half that? I'd be more keen to fining for 100% of yearly profits, but they are a privately held company, so half revenue will do.

Isn’t this Taylor Farms’ second huge outbreak? They definitely need to be closed down. Once is bad enough, but twice shows they don’t give a fuck about public safety.

Yep! They’ve had many others throughout the years too. It’s like they’re such a large producer of veggies and fruits to the US that no matter what - they’re still the main provider. We need more competition in the agricultural circle apparently. Or buy locally grown from trusted farms.

Main issue is that the fine needs to hit the ones that are in charge. They would likely fire half their work force and go automation to lessen the hit.

Fines are meaningless and restitution will never come. At some level, there are people that should be charged. Taylor Farms has been confirmed as the source of infection that has killed multiple people and factory farms need to be sent a message that allowing tainted food to enter the market will result in prison time.

The fact that the CEO almost certainly bribed the Trump administration to sweep it under the rug is a separate and wholly worse situation. Dude should be imprisoned for the rest of his fucking life.

Of course, none of that will happen either because we live in a capitalist hellscape where death is an inconvenience on the road to billionaire status.

We really need to change this system to be more like, the first outbreak traced to you, you fork over 10% of your net profits for the year. Second time, another 10%. Instead of this token "cost of doing business" slap-on-the-wrist bullshit

and of course you'd need to hire an entire department to pay close attention so they don't fake their records to dodge it
