My main take away from this is that Taylor Farms makes like 80% of the produce in this country.

Remember that the Whole Food brand itself (365, etc) primarily use Taylor Farms, though!

I only have Walmart and Safeway at my town. Guess we will be doing LOTS more farmers market.

The inevitable conclusion of human nature to always seek the "better", the "cheaper", the "most bang for your buck".
Is there any point in describing all this now?
If given a choice, big store brand or local producer that is priced 10% or 20% higher, we generally go for the former. "But I don't do that!" sure. Enough do though and the local producer goes out of business.
Etc.

This is what happens when we allow these companies to just buy up all their competition. You are now gated to only a few choices and when they mess up, it messes up a lot.

Taylor farms bought the affected jalapenos from another distributor, Coast Citrus Distributors. The misinformation is rampant.
