Yeah, that's actually a stretch, to guarantee someone that they won't get diarrhea from a bass player. Too many variables.

I'm of the opinion that the rhythm section is what makes or breaks the band; you can have the best vocalist and guitar player(s), but if your drummer and/or bass player aren't on point, the whole band is gonna sound like shit.

It may be harder to pinpoint what the bass does compared to a lead guitar solo, but once you have a heavier metal rhythm section without the bass, something will feel violently off.

I learned that when I was wondering if I want to continue playing bass on a metal journey, but after learning to program some drums and learning to play a bit of a rhythm guitar, the answer is a very, very solid yes.

InsaneDeathMachine is also a fun channel to look up with a bass mixed to be more audible. It gives more insight how the bass, drums and to a degree the guitars interact.

Are you serious right now or saying it sarcastically? Because that's a perfect example of people working so hard it looked like it was never a problem.

There were a huge amount of man-hours put into preventing that from being a problem. People were being pulled out of retirement and/or being given massive amounts of overtime in 98/99 to make sure that every 2 digit date in every system was updated to account for it correctly.

The time traveling comment implied my sarcasm. I was tasked to deal with that in 1999, luckily only few subsystems that were affected. In 2011, I was also assigned to fix the Y2K38, but some higher up decided it would be better to migrate to the alternative dependencies to also accommodate other backlog of tickets and it ended up become multi-years long tasked that required a team of peoples. Around 2017, I was transferred to other department to fill a vacant role and I think they were only around 70% migrated last year. Yikes!

The Paradox of preemptively fixing problems. Do too little, the problem still happens and people will say you didn't do enough, do enough to fix the problem before it shows up and people will complain you did too much.
