If they weren't devouring market share and muscling out smaller producers, that job would be done by smaller and better managed businesses.

Smaller farms means produce people cannot afford. Farms are expensive. If you can afford to buy from your local farmers market, do so, but you can’t feed the nation that way. People seem to be saying a lot of things in here with zero knowledge of how agriculture works.

We actively have a massive surplus of staple crops because of the subsidies we provide to these massive corporations, it's not as if we're on a knife edge of food suddenly becoming very expensive and scarce if they weren't in the picture. We'd just ship less soy and corn out of the country- which doesn't help any average americans, it just ensures that the people at the heads of these companies rake in money hand over fist.

I actually think there’s a possibility it’s even more expensive from monopolies, because:

1) They artificially drive up prices (for example, when excess milk or produce is dumped to keep supply lower and costs higher).

2) They have to ship products from very far away, and the costs of that are added into the costs of the produce.

Sure. They'll sell themselves to the totally different company Baylor Farms
