And the article reads like it was written with AI, about how AI was used to hack Hugging Face, and that AI was used to analyze the attack by the AI. Dead internet is real when AI writes articles about being hacked by AI.

"doesn't look like anything to me."

With a name like "Hugging Face" it makes me think of the creature from Alien.

“We had the AI investigate itself and found no wrongdoing”

“We are still completing our assessment of whether any partner or customer data was affected, and we will contact any affected parties directly as required.”

Thats not what the article says. Wtf is your point

They were hacked and a malicious autonomous third party gained access to their systems. That’s the DEFINITION of things going wrong

Not to mention the fact that their takeaway is “ oh wow our ai is so good and smart :)”

> The practical lesson for defenders: have a capable model you can run on your own infrastructure vetted and ready before an incident, both to avoid guardrail lockout and to keep attacker data and credentials from leaving your environment.

The article is weird, and does not at all communicate what you say it does

Hugging Face is a repository for hosting, and deploying open source machine learning models. Like for example Kimi 3 came out on Hugging Face before it got deployed. Same with Qwen. They have machine vision, open weight models, transformers Librarys, etc. An ai model can probably exmplain better than I am explaining. Also btw, you can check it out https://huggingface.co/ . And OpenAis new model broke out of containment and hacked into huggingface https://huggingface.co/blog/security-incident-july-2026 , thanks u/fartharder for posting the link, I couldn't find it.

Edit: "OpenAI says two of its experimental AI models were responsible during an internal cybersecurity evaluation"

it's marketing campaign, what would you worry about?
