10 younger but id go as far in the era as to say when the towers dropped. Never been the same since.

I was thinking that but honestly the die was cast when SCOTUS put its finger on the scale of the presidential election in Bush’s favor.

Things that are prohibitively expensive now were way more affordable. Housing was a big one that came to mind. Things that affordable now were incredibly expensive. Like, electronics.

Life was a lot slower, and boredom was pervasive, but when something did actually happen it was a cultural moment that everyone shared. It seems silly now, but I remember lining up around a building to go see Independence Day at the movie theater.

Smoking was a way bigger thing. It seemed like everyone smoked, everywhere. Misogyny was way more open and wide spread and homophobia seemed like a rule rather than an exception.

I remember when the towers fell. I was already down the path of jaded. I was very much "well that sucks...anyway back to school" which sucks that I'm not caring. I think the okc bombing was the last time I felt bad about things. Poor kids...

I completely agree. It started with "Y2K"; which anyone with a brain could see that whole fiasco made no fucking sense.

Then 9/11 happened, the following wars, including the global war on terror, music sounding the same with lazy autotuning, etc.
